Wrexham: Game Over

Hello my friends. I have to share some disappointing news with you all that my Wrexham game is finished. It seems just as I’m getting somewhere with this great game I’m thrown a «curve ball» to deal with and this time it’s Dell and not for the first time either.

So my December report was full of defeats but early in January 2014 we faced Liverpool at home in the Third Round of  The FA Cup and pulled of a sensational 2-1 victory with goals from Nicholas and Camara. Delighted with this I saved the game which turned out to be the last time as  my PC totally crashed and is a very costly fix. Not worth it.

I don’t know how many times Johnny has mentioned about backing up games and I did that but admittedly not for the last few weeks so the game date would be too far back if I releloaded from the USB key.

Some good news though is that I’ve already replaced my PC with a new HP  Triple Core, 6GB, 3.2GHZ and 1 Terrabite of storage. I guess that’s pretty good as all the little «perfromance» stars light up when I load a new game and I can have a massive database!

I hope to bring a new story to you by this coming weekend. I’m thinking either Derby County or starting unemployed as Hereford is available.

Anyway, I’m keen to get started so post any suggestions here. I’m 5 hours behind the UK so I can read them before leaving work today.

Thanks everyone!

So the file isn’t retainable if you go through your old hard drive? Shame, was a great story :(.
Anyway, sounds like a massive improvement in hardware which should see you through the next story!

As for a new one, harder stories are the best both for you commitment wise and the community entertainment wise. So I suggest something that has rarely been tried before.
One of the scandanavian leagues wouldn’t be a bad shout.
I am doing one from Sweden at the moment (story is over on the forum), but I wouldn’t recommend it due to league rules (9 home grown) and the lack of Swedish talent available.

So, I would go either Finnish or Danish. And start as a team as far down as you can :).

Alternatively, a lower league Brazilian team wouldn’t go a miss. The coaches are top class/cheap and the players/regens are equally as good.

    Good luck!

      Hi Excessive
Thanks for your suggestion. I have a Brazilian employee so maybe I can tap into her knowledge :) I did do the Swedish League on FM 2008 and it was pretty good too.

Notts County. Very hard team to manage.

    Hey Kevin,

that’s unfortunate. It was a great story and will be missed. I’m not sure what team you should be, although I would like to see you manage Derby County. Leading them back to the glory days of when Clough was manager would be very interesting.

      Hi Sears

Having recently watched The Damned United….again, I thought of Derby as I remember those glorry days at The Baseball Ground all too well :)

    Hi Kevin,

Sorry to hear about that. My Compact laptop is struggling all this while and i don’t know how long it will last me. I have a dropbox account so i am preparing to save the game in it, so i can retrieve in case the worst happen.

Look forward to your new story and with a more powerful computer, you can load more leagues giving you more choices. Good luck.

    Hi Kevin,
I think that you should make use of the power of this new PC and start a game with a few more leagues loaded and maybe unemployed. That would be a tough challenge I guess. Recovering the files from the old hard drive is not an option?

      Hi Johnny
I’m not sure how to recover the files if it can be done so I think I’ll prsee on with the new game. As a trial I did load quite a few leagues but only Hereford and Mansfield came up as requiring new managers :)

I think you should do plymouth argyle as they are in league 1 and are facing lots of financial struggles at the minute

      Hi Owen
I like your suggestion. I’m from the West Contry originally and my dad was there in the Royal Navy.

That’s harsh on you Kevin, just as soon as you won against Liverpool. You should be Scunthorpe or Southampton

Hi Kevin, sorry to see that you’ve lost your Wrexham game, it was a great story and very interesting. Don’t know who you should go next, I would quite like to see you start unemployed and try and get a job, working your way up to a big club. Just a suggestion anyway :)

    • Kevin

      28 февраля, 2011 at 19:35

      Hi Laxeyman
Thanks very much for those kind words. I was enjoying the story too. Starting unemployed is very tempting and that would immediatley give me Hereford

Disaster mate and I’m really sorry to hear it. I haven’t had too many issues…only lost two games the most notable been my 5 season Newcastle save in FM10. :( I’m glad you got a new and improved computer though and it sounds really good.

I would personally like to see you manage Derby…there’s a lot of lower league games around and you have already gone through the ladder with Wrexham. Would be nice to see you carry at the same level as you finished off. :)

      Hi Darren
I’m really pleased with the PC, hell of a lot faster for sure. As you know i’ve had my eye on Derby for some time so decision time will be over dinner tonight when I get home.

Any thoughts on palace? Some key players in the team already but I like to completely turn around the team in a few seasons! Maybe not as long as your earlier game or starting from lowest leagues but very enjoyable I feel and a decent challenge never the less!!

Hi Kevin, soo sad to hear about your Wrexham story, you came a long way with them and it must feel a waste of time now this has happened! Anyway, good luck on your next story.. Why not manage a big team? Arsenal?

      Thanks Sayam
I’ve shortlisted between Exeter and going unemployed but appreciate your comment.

A real shame, I hate when it happens though!

I will obviously say Spain! But what about Carlisle? My local team or a foreign adventure?

Anyway, good luck with who ever choose.

    :)

      Hi Ana
I think you have the Spanish market well taken care of :) I may check out Carlisle. Thanks for your suggestion.
