Sears — FM11 Terek, My New Home 14/15

Hello everyone, and welcome back to my FM11 story. Well, it’s sad to announce that I’ve parted company from my beloved Queens Park and found a new home in Russia, more about that later. Most of you will be disappointed that I’ve left Queens Park as we were about to embark on a historic journey in the SPL and Europa League.  I decided to leave because I feel I’ve bought the club as far as I could have bought it. It would have taken years and years to break Rangers and Celtic’s dominance and since we were just an amateur club, it would have taken even longer. Therefore I decided to resign and immediately began searching for a new job as I didn’t want to start a new game.

When I began looking for a new job, only a few clubs manager’s were under pressure, particularly in Russia. I declared interest in every job and most said they’d consider appointing me but that was all.  A few job’s came available that interested me, a club in Holland and France were looking for a new manager, along with Tottenham. However all three clubs rejected me :-/ I didn’t give up and I was finally offered a job… in Russia! Yup, a team in the 1st Division called Terek approached me and I accepted without hesitation.

They gave me a generous budget as well, £11.5 million! The wage budget wasn’t to shabby either. I’ll surly be able to bring in some talented players.  For those who don’t know the club, here’s a short background:

Last season, Terek were relegated from the Russian Premier Division. This season Terek were predicated to finish first in the Russian First Division, but unfortunately for the previous manager the club were underachieving and found themselves in 5th spot, 7 points off the top of the table.

Their results thus far are promising, certainly much better than what I anticipated. Were also still in the Russian Cup, but that could be short lived as were playing Rubin in the next round.

I was also rather surprised with our team report, we sure do have quality but most defiantly lack quantity. I’m not sure if we’ll be adapting a 4-4-2, I might. It’s really between that or a 4-5-1, but I won’t be using the downloaded tactic I had with Queens Park. I want to try create my own tactic this time!

Here’s a look at our squad, we only have 16 players and two of those aren’t registered so it’s obvious that we need to strengthen heavily during the next transfer window..

That’s just a short summary of my new club and the situation thus far. Regarding our facilities, Terek’s new stadiums holds 30,000 people. It was built in 2011. Our youth facilities are classified as average and so are our training facilities. Well that’s it for this post, I’ll be back in a few days with my transfer news plus opening fixtures. Thanks for reading and feel free to comment!

I respect your decision to leave Queens Park Sears. The club wasn’t helping you achieve the goals and that is extremely frustrating. This Russian team look quite interesting though. You could really push on within the first year. Good luck!!

Thanks Darren. It was tough leaving, but in the end it was the correct decision.

YAY! Now i can read your stories :) It would have taken me ages to catch up on your queens park story. I have always wondered, why did you pick queens park as a team to manage?

Anyway, good luck, what are your targets with Terek?

      That’s OK Sayam… :-)

I decided to test myself in the Scottish lower leagues, and tbh I picked Queen Park because of their stadium! It has a capacity of 52,5000 :-) And I thought that the club would turn pro, but they didn’t…

My target with Terek is to get promoted within two years and further enhance my reputation in Europe.

I never saw this coming at all…Wow!
Well, good luck and I’m sure you will create another interesting story for us.

Cheers Kevin. It is a surprise but career wise it was a wise decision to move clubs :-)

I read an interesting article today in my local newspaper. Ruud Gullit is coaching Terek today and the chairman of the team is a former Chechnyan warlord. Ruud Gullit has 80 persons squad to guarantee his safety in Grozny, which they have noted that Grozny is safe place to be in.

Anyways Sears good luck with Terek, hope you will make them a big team in europe :)

Noooo, what a heartbreak! I guess I became a fan of the Spiders and now I just know that the club won’t continue to grow… Terek seems like a nice challenge although I think it will be fairly easy for you considering that it’s a wealthy club. Winning the Russian league is achievable in a rather short time but taking the team to the peak of European football might take some time. I’m sad that you left the Spiders but I wish you the best of luck in the new journey!

Sorry Johnny…. I grew to love the Spiders as well but I just had to leave… Not sure if Terek are a wealthy club, there balance was only £6 million when I arrived and I think they had a large transfer budget because they sold all there best players during the summer and replaced them with freebies. And in the information section their finances are only considered »Okay». Thanks for your support :-)

Good choice there, you took the Spiders as far as they could go…and a little bit more! Good luck with Terek, they look pretty good from the assistant report and I look forward to seeing what you can do!

Thanks. It will be interesting to manage in Russia since I’ve hardly managed there before.

I for one am gutted that you left. If it was me I couldnt have left without a fight in the top division, not after taking them that far.
Although I do respect your decision and see where your coming from. What a club you have found though! Massive transfer budget and you have just less than half a season to make up a 7 point deficit.

Good luck pal, I’ll be routing for you :)

It was tough departing, but in the end is was the right thing to do. I didn’t want to hang around for much longer and I’m proud of what I achievement with them. To make sure that this story remains my last on FM11, it’s going to be a journeyman story around Europe. I was always going to leave Queens Park! Terek have a good team but lack depth, but I’ve bought a few decent players already. Thanks for your support!

Very nice, I know Terek pretty good since Gullit became coach, huge news here in Holland! They tried to buy Mbark Bousouffa from Anderlecht for 10 million euros, he went to Anzi though.

Btw what was the Dutch club where you applied for? :D

    • Sears

      11 апреля, 2011 at 17:10

£10 million? That’s a lot for a relatively unknown player.Prior to my appointment they sold all their best players because they had previously been relegated from the Premier Division!

The Dutch team was Sparta Rotterdam… I think that’s their name? They rejected me anyway :-/

      Cheers!!

Yes, that’s their name. Dutch Championship team in RL :)

I think is was the right move in the end, always being an amateur club would just have been annoying to say the least!

You look like you have a decent team though and a good transfer budget so hoepfully you can bring some success to this team!

    Good luck!!

    • Sears

      11 апреля, 2011 at 17:14

Thanks Ana, and your 100% correct. Being amateur really tested me but I think I did a good enough job considering the success I achieved!

Yeah, our team is OK, although we’ll do well to finish in the top 6 or so. Might take a while for me to adapt to Russia so hopefully my new board have patience :-D

      Thanks Ana.

Great move and interesting choice. Looking forward to your transfer news. Good luck on your new team.

Sad to see that you’ve left Queen’s Park, but Terek looks like a decent challenge, they have Roberto Carlos playing for them in real life now as captain :D

They’ve managed to stay in fourth place with such a meager and modest squad (only 1 striker!), probably won’t be too hard to get promotion with the generous transfer budget (and a lot of wage budget to be filled)

Well, at least you’re getting paid now, you might want to spend some of it on some bodyguards :P

    • CsAtlantis

      12 апреля, 2011 at 02:08

Oh, Roberto Carlos doesn’t play for them but instead plays for FC Anzhi Makhachkala? My bad

      • Sears

        12 апреля, 2011 at 11:43

Thanks! I managed to bring in some decent players so hopefully we can get promoted within two years or so.

ps Yeah your right, he’s with Anzhi.

it was the right move to move away from queens park. it would’ve taken years to break the old firm dominance. what’s your goals at terek eg 1 year 2 year etc. do ypu think by 5 years your be in with a shout of winning a top European honour??

    • Sears

      12 апреля, 2011 at 11:29

Thanks Ben. Your right, Celtic and Rangers are just the »god’s» of Scottish Football and I didn’t fancy waiting around.

Well, my first target is to become more familiar with Russia, tactics etc. I’ve taken over the team with them languishing below the promotion spots, so hopefully we can finish the season strongly and then I want to get promoted next season!

Terek(or Gronzy i always say)isn’t bad team in the real, they got some good player, good manager, good new stadium(especially with the design)
Btw im shocked with your resignment, because you bring QPS to the highest level of Scottish League, okay one time i said you better go from QPS,but at least you don’t want to enjoy the highest competition of Scottish league with your ‘hard working’ team?
    hope you get promotion
    cheers :)
ps:better you recruit some guards and bring mini uzi and some grenade in your bag :P

    • Sears

      12 апреля, 2011 at 21:45

Yeah, just saw their stadium on the »World Stadiums» website! Not bad :-) It would have been nice to manage Queens Park in the top flight, but the amateur status was so annoying….

ps I’m Irish, they won’t want to mess with me :-D
