Sears — FM11 Terek: My Intentions Turn Elsewhere…. But Where? 15/16

Hey guys, welcome back to my FM11 journeyman story. So far I’ve managed to conquer the lower leagues in Scotland with amateur side Queens Park. I also managed to win the Scottish FA Cup during my turbulent years as Spiders boss. I then resigned and a short while later, Russian side Terek came calling for my services. I answered their calls and immediately settled in as I won promotion, thus leading Terek back into the Russian Premier Division. During pre season, I heavily strengthened my team spending a massive £11,000,000 or so. Let’s see how we settled during the first few months of the new campaign.

Premier Division results:

A wonderful but yet inconsistent start to the season. In truth, I was ecstatic with my teams form and it was much better than expected. I was fearing that we’d begin terribly and thus be thrown into an unwanted relegation battle. Thankfully, my players played to their full ability as we picked up some important points. The victories against Anzhi and Saturn were most pleasing.

League table:

I guess you all know what happened, Terek isn’t highlighted anymore because… I left them! Well known Russian side Rubin Kazan stacked their manager and after I expressed an interest in joining them, they approached me and I accepted their offer. Firstly I took the job to further enhance my reputation, and secondly, their one of the biggest teams in Russia and have some amazing players! It was simply an offer I couldn’t refuse. There’s loads of room for improvement because Rubin have been underachieving massively this season.

For those who know nothing about Rubin, here’s a short background:

Unless Zenit or CSKA Moscow approach me, I think I will be manager of Rubin for a few years at the very least. Rubin are a well known Russian club with an incredible 45,000 seater stadium and they have been constantly challenging for top honers in recent years. Like the background says, they are a club with a growing history and I hope to win some silverware in the coming years.

Although the majority of the squad is foreign, my assistants team report is extremely promising:

We boast some quality players like Chris Wood, Carlos Eduardo, and Vujadin Savic. These players will be essential if we are to challenge for a Champions League spot, I think we are good enough to do so. Here’s my squad in full:

Signing more Russians is on top of my to do list when the transfer window reopens. I will also try sell some of my overpaid foreign players like Martins and the heavily overpaid Carlos Eduardo. He’s a great player, but he is defiantly not worth £84,000 a week.

We have some daunting games, in particularly  against Zenit, CSKA and Dinamo Moscow. Those games will be arduous and my team will have to play to their maximum ability if we are to even secure a point.

It’s a shame that I left Terek, but sometimes in life you have to be selfish and greedy. I leave Terek with a heavy heart and I’m fully prepared to return Rubin to the top of Russian football yet again. Until my next post, thanks for reading and feel free to express your opinion. Thanks.

    hey sears,

you had a good run at terek but i dont think anyone would turn down the chance to go to rubin kazan. they are a much bigger club and under your guidance should be a force to be reckoned with again in a few seasons. it will be intersting to see how your return to terk goes in only your third game in charge.

Yeah, Rubin was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. It will be an emotional return to Terek but hopefully we’ll pick up the 3 points :-) Thanks!

    Hey Sears,

You did well with Terek but I’m guessing you want quick success, Rubin can provide that. Their reputation is quite high so you could get some very good players. Carlos Eduardo always gets released by Rubin because of his ridiculously high wage, so you should sell him ASAP. A CL spot is very realistic with the quality you have, good luck!

On a side note, sorry if this comes out a bit rude but you spell ‘definitely’ wrong. You say ‘defiantly’.

Cheers Alex. Rubin are far better than Terek and with a few new players we can challenge for the title. Carlos is good, but I feel I can get someone as good ass him on a lower wage so he’ll probably leave by the end of the season. I’m optimistic that we can secure a Champions League spot too.

Thanks for clarifying the spelling mistake :-D

I guess it was a good choice Sears, Rubin is a big wealthy club and you have better perspectives with them than with Terek. Arlauskis is a great keeper, I know him from a few years ago when he was playing in the Romanian league, fantastic talent. Best of luck mate!

Thanks Johnny. Unfortunately Arlauskis didn’t play in my first game because I already had 6 foreign players playing :-( He seems to be a decent keeper though.

That’s just another step up within your Journeyman career Sears. Well done, Terek would have taken an age to improve beyond Rubin’s standard. Great move and hopefully we’ll see some great signings. :)

    Hey Sears
I think it was the right decision to join Rubin Kazan, because it would have taken long to become a top club. I am pretty sure you can do great things with Rubin. Good luck!

    Hi Sears,

It really depends on what you want. I believe Rubin will provide a better chance for you to attract better players and a higher wage budget. That’s the joy of playing FM, signing players that you desire. It will take few seasons if you are managing Terek. Good luck for the new team.

Rubin was too good to turn down I suppose Sears, they have a good structure to build on

They have too many non-Russian players though, by the way Henry Bienvenu seems to be the most highly valued player in your squad, how good is he?

Looks like Rubin has some solid DCs, a bit lacking on wingers though

It seems everything has already been said!

But it was a good move I think, it reminded me of when I left FCAK for the Moroko Swallows sometimes jobs are just too good to turn down.

Really good luck Sears, hopefully you bring some success to Rubin!

    :)
