Jon’s — Ultimate National Challenge — The new start!

The list below is what I need to win and what I have already won so far;

The Copa America

The Oceania Nations Cup

The Caribbean Championships*

The Gold Cup

The World Cup – 2014 England

The Confederations Cup – 2013 England

The Olympics*

The African Nations – 2017 Cameroon

The Asian Cup

The European Championships – 2012 England

The Four Associations Tournament

As you can see there is two cups with a * on the end, they are in place because they aren’t a cup I have to win to complete it. If I get the chance I shall go for it but I will not be searching for the job.

So guys I am back and I am back with a new team and this new team are based in Central America and the capital of my country I am going to be managing is called Mexico City. So I can guess that you would of gathered who I am managing yes people its Mexico they have a massive stadium which can fit 105,000 people all seated now that’s a great stadium to play it once it is full! They are currently ranked 13th in the world, Ghana and Holland are two teams who are above us in the rankings my plans while I am here are to get Mexico into the top ten teams in the world! Finally in my little brief is the “Star players” in the Mexican squad Guillermo Ochoa, Adrian Aldrete, Erik Torres and finally one of my personal favourites Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez (Chicharito means Little pea).

So this update will feature two matches in the World Cup Qualifiers North American Section Third Phase, first up El Salvador who are currently ranked 71st in the world and my second match will be up against Canada and they are currently ranked 48th in the world. Mexico is sitting 5th out of 6 teams in the Qualifiers after 3 games! They haven’t won a single game but managed to draw two and loss one game. I’ll show you two pictures the league so far and the fixtures for 2017 and I must say 2017 is pretty action packed for Mexico!

S0 as y0u can see by the fixture lists Mexico have got 10 games with the possibility of playing 13 games overall this year!

So as you can see Mexico are laying 5th so far and I shall look to top the group of at least come 2nd in the group but let’s just see how we do!

Right it’s time to pick my first Mexican squad to play against El Salvador and Canada, so as normal in the qualifiers you might of picked up that we need 26 players to register to play so here you go;

Goalkeepers –

Jonathan Orozco – Trabzonspor – 13 caps, Guillermo Ochoa – America (MEX) – 93 caps and Liborio Sanchez – Dynamo Kyiv – 12 caps.

Total caps – 118 caps combined.

Defenders –

Total caps – 270 caps combined

Midfielders –

Andres Guardado – Stuggart – 115 caps, Pablo Barrera – Birmingham – 78 caps, Cesar Villaluz – Nurnberg – 31 caps, Giovanni Dos Santos – 52 caps – Malaga, Efrain Juarez – Aston Villa – 103 caps, Jonathan Dos Santos – Leverkusen – 42 caps, Jesus Eduardo Zavala – Wolfsburg – 39 caps and Erick Torres – Spartak Moscow – 14 caps.

Total caps – 174 caps combined.

Total caps combined (Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders and Strikers) – 1036 caps

Just look at that 1036 caps in my whole team and that is amazing I must say I’ve never seen that many caps in one national team squad.

So first up is El Salvador and here are the match odds of the game;

Here is my starting line-up;

So according to a well-known source “Goal.com”

They said “Mexico have got to be favourites for this one. They have been impressive at home recently and I expect them to have too much for El Salvador.”

Prior to this match I said it’s my first match with you and I want you to do this not  for me but for your fans! (Team talk – For the fans)

First half –

4th minute – GOAL – Javier Hernandez

16th minute – GOAL – Pablo Barrera

27th minute – GOAL – Pablo Barrera (2)

Half time –

Mexico 3 – 0 El Salvador

So boys you’re doing as I said, I can’t say much more than I am pleased! (Team talk – Pleased)

Second half –

46th minute – GOAL – Javier Hernandez (2)

51st minute – GOAL – Javier Hernandez (3)

78th minute – GOAL – Hector Moreno

90th minute – GOAL – Javier Hernandez (4)

Full time –

Mexico 7 – 0 El Salvador

So boys, you done everything you could of done it today! 7-0 was fantastic well done boys!

Match report –

Mexico 7 – 0 El Salvador (World Cup Qualifiers (NAM) 3rd phase)

Mexico fans celebrated an emphatic 7 – 0 win at Estadio Azteca this afternoon. The game will be remembered for a remarkable display of goal scoring from Mexico’s Javier Hernandez.

Player Jonathan Portillo showed a sign of things to come though as he nearly gifted Mexico a goal on 4 minutes. Striker Javier Hernandez got Mexico off to a flyer by scoring a tidy finish on 4 minutes.

Winger Pablo Barrera doubled Mexico’s lead with a deftly executed finish from close range on 16 minutes. Barrera added his 2nd goal of the game with a deftly executed on 27 minutes.

Hernandez added his 2nd goal of the game with a placed shot from close range on 46 minutes. Hernandez added his 3rd goal of the game with a placed shot on 51 minutes.

An error from El Salvador’s Geovani Escobar allowed centre-back Hector Moreno to score a fluke goal. An error from El Salvador’s Cesar Menendez allowed Hernandez to score a fierce shot.

Here are the highlights of a stunning match that Mexico won 7 — 0 available in stunning HD (1080p) ;

So next up Canada who are currently the holders of the Gold Cup which is a cup that I need to win! So this should give me a boost of confidence that we can do well in the Gold Cup!

As you can see below Mexico are favourites to beat reigning Gold Cup holders Canada!

Here is my first eleven to face Canada;

So according to a well-known source “Goal.com”

They said “Mexico have got to be favourites for this one. They have been impressive at home recently and I expect them to have too much for Canada.”

Prior to the match in the hotel I told each player I expect you to win this match! (Team talk – I Expect a win)

First half –

20th minute – Hector Moreno makes way for Rafael Ramirez

Half time –

Mexico 0 – 0 Canada

So guys go out there and do this for your fans! They pay to watch you win! (Team talk – For the fans)

Second half –

74th minute — Jonathan Dos Santos makes way for Carlos e Vela

85th minute – Jesus Eduardo Zavala makes way for Giovanni Dos Santos (Due to an injury)

Full time

Mexico 0 – 0 Canada

Guys that was just not good enough! Canada showed they aren’t no pushovers today! Up your game for next time!

Match stats –

Match report –

Mexico 0 – 0 Canada (World Cup Qualifiers (NAM) 3rd phase)

Mexico could count themselves highly unlucky to only draw in their World Cup North American Qualifying Section Third Phase match at Estadio Azteca.

Mexico had a number of attempts at goal but their profligacy meant they didn’t score as many as they maybe would have liked.

So that’s the end for this update, as you can see I am now managing Mexico and we have got a great squad to play around with! My next update will be the Gold Cup group stages where we will be playing El Salvador, Jamaica and Netherlands Antilles.

Last of all, I’ve had the chance to write a side story to this Ultimate National Challenge and it is with my favourite club Fulham Football Club.

If anyone would like to read it and I’ve had it reviewed and they seemed to like it and recommended it to others.

So if you would like to read it, pop your e-mail address you would like it to be sent to below and I shall send it to you.

Thank you and good night!

    Interesting new team Jon, Mexico will surely be a good challenge. You started well against El Salvador, and it seems like you were highly unlucky against Canada. I’m sure you’ll get a good run of results soon, good luck!
    P.S I wouldn’t mind reading your Fulham story, my email is laxeyman@manx.net

      We was extremely unlucky against Canada but I hope to beat them sooner or later!

    Wow how did you not score against Canada, wonder who was the previous manager, conceding so many goals and getting 2 draws and even lost to Costa Rica…………you should be able to qualify from the group as long as you can turn your domination of games into wins, there’s 3 spots plus one playoff spot for CONCACAF i think

    You’re sending out yout story by email? Why not post in the forums :D, my email is cs_atlantis@yahoo.com

      Your telling me I was pissed to see a 0 — 0 we didn’t have our shooting boots on! I am not surprised they actually sacked him but maybe I am the right man for the job.

      Ah the reason why I didn’t post it on the forums is because of the layout I’ve done on the Word Document although I may sooner or later put it on the forums and alter the layout I suppose that could be a better option I’ll look into that Thank you!

    Mexico is by far the best team in the region, you will surely win the Gold Cup. The only team that could pose a threat is the U.S.A. but I think you will be able to beat them as well.

      21 июня, 2011 at 16:17

      Agreed Mexico are a top notch side! I’d be pretty annoyed if we wasn’t able to win the gold cup I’l admit that!

    Wow!

    Long read as I have been catching up with your story, have been on holiday you see!

    First off congrats on the African cup of nations win! Glad you managed to win thanks to some hopeless penalty takers on the oppositions side!

    Mexico is alot of fun, I managed them to the gold cup on my story and you should have no real problems in winning it.

    Unlucky against Canada just one of them games, and good luck!! :)

      21 июня, 2011 at 16:15

      Ah was no need to catch up but thank you! I hoped you enjoyed your holiday.

      Thank you, Wasn’t the best of finals but we won and that’s all that matters!

      Yeah I really like Mexico my first time managing them but looking at players in my other games they look superb.

      I hope to get revenge over Canada! Thank you Ana
