Jon’s — Ultimate National Challenge — World Cup Groups!

The list below is what I need to win and what I have already won so far;

The Copa America

The Oceania Nations Cup

The Caribbean Championships*

The Gold Cup — 2017 — Mexico

The World Cup – 2014 England

The Confederations Cup – 2013 England

The Olympics*

The African Nations – 2017 – Cameroon

The Asian Cup

The European Championships – 2012 England

The Four Associations Tournament

As you can see there is two cups with a * on the end, they are in place because they aren’t a cup I have to win to complete it. If I get the chance I shall go for it but I will not be searching for the job.

So as you may well know, Mexico have been drawn in one of the toughest groups I’ve ever seen in my life! With Brazil and France being the two top seeded and more than likely favourites to advance into the next round that leaves myself (Mexico) and Minnows Japan to sit and cry!  I could see myself coming out with 4 or 5 points in the groups! I personally think we should beat Japan with ease and then either draw the games agaisnt France and Brazil or Draw and lose against one of the teams if you get that.

So prior to the World Cup, only one game was scheduled one that I didn’t decide on but it was against a country called Tonga, this is a team who have previously only won 1 game in the past 4 years which is well horrendous to be fair and they didn’t stop losing when they stepped up to the plate to have a swing at Mexico. Mexico would be the toughest team they would face to date but could it be a wake up call to Mexico?

Well unfortunately I haven’t got any build up to this match as I completely forgot to save it, I really thought I was just playing a normal save not my national one but I have got  the highlights and the match report for you;

Match report —

Mexico 7 – 0 Tonga (Friendly)

Fans sang the praises of their heroes at Estadio Azteca as Mexico ran out 7-0 winners over Tonga in their latest friendly fixture. A brace from Abraham Ramirez helped Mexico to victory.

Winger Abraham Ramirez got Mexico off to a flyer by scoring a deftly executed finish after just one minute. Striker Javier Hernandez doubled Mexico’s lead with a finish tucked away with consummate ease on 11 minutes.

Hernandez added his 2nd goal of the game with a placed shot from close range on 33 minutes. Midfielder Angel Cerda then added to the lead with an effort from range on 46 minutes.

Juarez then increased Mexico’s advantage further with a real poacher’s effort on 55 minutes. Ramirez added his 2nd goal of the game with a shot from the edge of the area on 59 minutes.

It was a superb solo effort and Ramirez looked delighted. Winger Luis Ricardo Rios completed the rout with a fierce shot on 76 minutes.

Here is the highlights from the match between Mexico and Tonga (1080p);

So swiftly moving on to the 2018 World Cup! I will jump straight into Mexico’s first match and that is against Japan a team I shall look to well DESTROY! .

Here is my starting line up;

So according to a well known source «Goal.Com»

They have published that “Mexico have got to be favourites for this one. They have been impressive at recently and I expect them to have too much for Japan.”

So I said to the boys prior to the match, you’ve made it this far go and show what you really mean on the biggest stage of them all! (Team talk — For the fans)

First half —

11th minute — GOAL — Javier Hernandez

23rd minute — GOAL — Taufic Guarch

45th minute — GOAL — Javier Hernandez (2)

Half time —

Japan 0 — 3 Mexico

Excellent start boys you are really showing what you can do out there tonight! I am pleased with your performance! (Team talk — Pleased)

Adrian Aldrete makes way for Andres Guardado

Second half —

60th minute — GOAL — Abraham Ramirez

71st minute — GOAL — Hiroyuki Kato

73rd minute — GOAL — Taufic Guarch

Full time —

Japan 1 — 5 — Mexico

So boys, you done everything you could of done it today! 1-5 was fantastic well done boys! (Team talk — Well done)

Match report —

Japan 1 – 5 Mexico (World Cup Group C)

In a stunning performance, Mexico demolished Japan 5 -1 in the World Cup Group C match at Luzhniki. A brace from Javier Hernandez helped Mexico to victory.

Striker Javier Hernandez gave Mexico the lead with a deftly executed finish in the 11th minute. Striker Taufic Guarch doubled Mexcio’s lead with an effort from the edge of the area on 23 minutes.

An error from Japan’s Hiroyuki Koido allowed Hernandez to score an incisive finish. Winger Abraham Ramirez then added to the lead with a real poachers’ effort on 60 minutes.

An error from Mexico’s Gabino Gallardo allowed player Hiroyuki Kato to score an incisive finish. There were no prizes for guessing who completed the rout on 73 minutes as that man Guarch popped up again with a real poacher’s effort.

Here is the highlights from tonight’s game, Enjoy (1080P);

Next up for Mexico are France they are currently ranked 8th in the world ranking system, and Mexico are ranked 6th in the world does that mean anything? Let’s see if it does….

So France are only slight Favourites  to beat us tonight so could we see a little surprise tonight.

Here is the squad;

So according to a well known source «Goal.Com»

They said «This isn’t a easy game to call but I predict France to come out on top in what will undoubtedly be a tight affair.»

Boys, this is your chance to get your name and the countries name out there! Go do this for your fans! (Team talk — For the fans.)

First half —

7th minute — RED CARD — Mamadou Sakho

11th minute — RED CARD — Luis Ricardo Rios

Half time —

Mexico 0 — 0 France

Well done boys, keep this up you may even get a win from this game! (Team talk — Well done)

Second half —

Full time —

Mexico 0 — 0 France

Match report —

Mexico 0 – 0 France (World Cup Group C)

Mexico will have been the happier of the sides after a 0 – 0 draw on a hard and bouncy surface at Spartak.

Commanding centre-back Mamadou Sakho’s red card for a vicious foul on 7 minutes put France’s position under question. Winger Luis Ricardo Rios red card for a vicious foul on 11 minutes put Mexico’s position under question.

France also saw their 24th minute strike questionably chalked off.

Both teams had a number of attempts at goal, which promised much, but the quality of finishing was poor throughout.

No highlights due to it being a 0 -0 draw.

Anyway on to the build up of the final game of the groups and this is agaisnt no other than the great Brazil! But in the build up there was a little controversy….

Spain have had a horrendous World Cup, losing their opening two games in the group. First losing against Greece and then Ghana after leaving them unable to advance into the next round!

Here is my squad to face Brazil (AHH) ;

According to a well known source «The Brazilian Football Review»

They said » I Fancy Brazil for this one. They have enough quality to see of Mexico tonight.»

Come on boys, just do your best it’s all I ask for! (Team talk — You can win today)

First half —

27th minute — GOAL — Neymar

35th minute — GOAL — Ticao

Half time —

Brazil 2 — 0 Mexico

Come on boys, I no you’ve got it into you to get a goal back I believe in you and so do your fans! (Team talk — For the fans)

Enrique Reyes makes way for Diego Reyes

Second half —

71st minute — GOAL — Javier Hernandez

90+4 minutes — GOAL — Diego Reyes

Full time —

Brazil 2 — 2 Mexico

What did I say? I knew you could do it! You’ve made me a happy man and all your fans extremely happy feel proud! (Team talk — Well done)

Match report —

Brazil 2 – 2 Mexico (World Cup Group C)

Mexico had no answer to Brazil’s prowess from dead-ball situations as Brazil scored all their goals from set-pieces on a hard and bouncy surface at Volgograd.

Striker Neymar gave Brazil the lead with a well struck effort in the 27th minute. Flamengo captain Ticao doubled Brazil’s lead with a good header from just inside the six-yard box on 35 minutes.

An error from Brazil’s Pato allowed striker Javier Hernandez to score a fine header from point-blank range. With Brazil already beginning to celebrate, defensive midfielder Diego Reyes then scored a shot from the edge of the area in injury-time to snatch the equaliser for Mexico.

Better late than never for Mexico and the fans were clearly delighted with Reyes’ impact.

Here is the highlights from today’s game (1080p);

That’s a wrap for today everyone, You shall see what happens in my next post! Did I qualify, Did I finish 3rd? You will have to wait!

    I think it’s safe to assume that both Brazil and France will have beaten Japan, which means you’re almost certainly through, as either they’d’ve drawn with each other, leaving them also each on 5 points, but you have an excellent goal difference, or one of Brazil or France will have beaten each other, meaning one of them ends up on 4 points, behind you. I’d say you’ve finished 2nd in the group, behind Brazil, with France on 4 and Japan on 0 (Brazil having 7 points).

      MRDNRA, that confused me reading it but I got you in the end, you’ll see in the next post with what happened although I think you may be close!

    Hey Jon
    I think you may have qualified second. 5 points for you. I think France and Brazil both beat Japan. France vs Brazil is the game that decides it, you need any team to win to qualify.

    What a cliffhanger.
    I think you got qualified like Vaibhave mentioned.
    The Spain job. While it certarinly would be interesting it counterproduce your goals since you have already won the European Championship. You might however have a better chance of winning the World Cup with them.
    If I were you I would reject the Spain job and hope to get a job in South America or Asia before the next World Cup.

      That was what I hoped for a good cliffhanger.

      It would be a counterproduce but being the manager of Spain is an achievement!

      I shall be looking to do that based on goals being set and in need of being complete.

    That was a great comeback against brazil, well done! I think you will have finished second in your group which is a fantastic achievement. I’m interested to see what happens with the spain job, they really are an incredible side!

      Thanks Mike,

      I believe 1st or 2nd is a outstanding achievement with the group I had but even if I was to come 3rd I wouldn’t be to downhearted.

    Pretty good Jon, and I reckon you have qualified, your results should be good enough, and that last gasp equaliser against Brazil must have sent you through. About the Spain job, I reckon you should ask to delay until the end of the World Cup (or when you’re knocked out) then accept the job :)
    Good luck for the knockout rounds!

    • Jon Crosby

      9 июля, 2011 at 16:43

      Thank you Laxeyman,

      I reckon I have qualified to but you never no.

      The equaliser against Brazil could of made me the happiest man at that moment of time!

    Hi Jon
    I’m sure you made it to the next round. Great job so far though I’m wondering if you will accept the Spain job after the World Cup?

    5 points from 3 games? I think you should go through, something had to give between France and Brazil

    Might want to start checking out a new job really soon though :P

    Well no matter what, you’ve done Mexico proud! To thrash Japan then hold your own against France and Brazil is excellent…however, I’m 99% sure you’ve qualified, only 99 because there may be some weird mathematical chance that I’m missing ;)

    • Jon Crosby

      9 июля, 2011 at 16:32

      Thank you Darren,

      Mathematical could be a problem but you’ll have to wait and see!

    LoL! Guardiola as Spain manger….

    Its the same in every game, really annoys me for some reason!

    I would say you have qualified as five points should be enough, but complications happen but I am 99% sure! :)

    Like Johnny I hope you didnt turn Spain down, I would very dissapointed… :(

    But the best of luck!!

    • Jon Crosby

      9 июля, 2011 at 16:31

      I think in the future he will become the manager of Spain once he’s done with club football but who knows?

      Yes 5 points in theory should be good enough to qualify!

  12. Joe Lance

    6 июля, 2011 at 16:23

    No need for guessing, you would have qualified, but then football is crazy.
    Take the Spain job.
