Jon — SFC: Premature Ending

Hello all, and welcome another pseudo-update of my Stenhousemuir story. We’ve run into a bit of a speed bump with the story, as a result of some computer issues. For those of you who followed my Salisbury City story, you’ll recall that I nearly lost the save due to a nearby lightning strike that fried one of my two hard drives (thankfully I had a backup and was able to recover most of my progress). My second hard drive has been carrying on as normal until yesterday, when my desktop failed to turn on after I returned home from a weekend away. After extensive testing, I was able to determine the hard drive as the point of failure.

Fortunately I didn’t lose any critical personal data (which I back up regularly), but my Football Manager files are toast. At the time of my last save, I’d guided SFC to a 3-3-7 record in the First Division, and we were sitting 8th on the table. We were dealing with a minor injury crises (both of my first team keepers were injured within a day of each other), and we looked set for a season long relegation battle (but not before upsetting Premier Side Morton in the League Cup, only to be demolished by 3-0 by Celtic in the next round).

Next Steps

This leads us to my next steps. I thought I’d try something a little different this time. Rather than picking a team on my own, I’m going to leave my fate in your hands. Leave a comment letting me know which country or club you’d like to see me manage. If you have a specific club in mind, definitely mention it and I’ll take a look at it. I’ll go with whichever country/club seems to have the most support. I’m bummed our Stenhousemuir story is coming to a close before it even began, but I’m looking forward to the next game!

(FYI — I’ll be playing on my laptop for the time being, and will be backing up my FM saves onto Dropbox after every session. I will *not* lose another game or save to some stupid computer malfunction.)

Birmingham City — decent transfer budget but quite an old squad and never seem to do well when controlled by the computer. PLUS, I never have any success with them.

Luton Town in the BSP or a team from Ireland or Northern Ireland

I’d like you to choose either of Celtic, Leicester, or Hinckley (Leicester’s feeder club). Both Celtic and Leicester are in higher divisions though.

Alternatively, I will second Sibo in saying go for Seattle (just cos I went to Seattle a few years ago!).

How about a team from the Austrian League or maybe Swiss League. I think it needs to be different from anybody else…more variation on the site the better :)

I’m tending to agree with you, a «smaller» European nation like Poland or Hungary would be interesting, although there appears to be some demand for an MLS campaign. :-P

Aberdeen! I am a huge fan and have seen them have a terrible season capped off with Paul Hartley retiring. Please turn it around!

    Cheers

For an MLS team I’d suggest Philadelphia Union, they are doing well in their 2nd MLS season (very very mean defense with Farid Mondragon between the sticks)

Watford, relegation battlers with poor budge, but on the up side they have a high potential team with many players who are thought to become leading players for the league. I think it should be a good challenge to get them to the premier league :)

Barry Town from Wales!! Save them, they’re going out of business and might not be in FM 2012.

I know almost none of you follow Slovenian football but if you would manage a team from Slovenian league that would be great.
