Jon’s Ultimate National Challenge — World Cup 2014 Knockout Stage

Before I start my story here is a list below of what I need to win and what i have already won so far;

The Copa America

The Oceania Nations Cup

The Caribbean Championships*

The Gold Cup

The World Cup

The Confederations Cup – 2013 England

The Olympics*

The African Nations

The Asian Cup

The European Championships – 2012 England

The Four Associations Tournament

As you can see there is two cups with a * on the end, they are in place because they aren’t a cup I have to win to complete it. If I get the chance I shall go for it but I will not be searching for the job.

Ok I am going to jump straight into this and I’ll start off at the second round of the World Cup, England are up against Belgium a strong team with the likes of Lukaku and Hazard!

Here is my beloved England first eleven;

According to “Goal.com”

Match report –

Belgium 1 – 2 England (World Cup Second Round)

England produced a good display this evening to see off the challenge of Belgium at Morumbi.

The first incident of note was on 27 minutes as Belgium were denied claims by Marouane Fellaini for a penalty. Commanding centre-back Vincent Kompany was left red-faced in the 42nd minute as he managed to put the ball into his own net. Centre-back Chris Smalling doubled England’s lead with a close range header on 72 minutes.

Flamboyant midfielder Eden Hazard’s 83rd minute strike proved the only consolation for Belgium.

Also here are Spain’s results for Ana;

So England have managed to get themselves into the quarter finals of the World Cup, they have been drawn against Holland a tough match for England but I am pretty sure England will overcome this challenge and get into the Semi-finals of the World Cup.

So here is my first eleven to face Holland;

According to “Football365.com”

“This game will be very close – I think it will most likely come down to the lottery of penalty shoot-out.”

Full time – Team talk – Well done

Match report –

England 4 – 1 Holland (World Cup Quarter Finals)

An efficient performance from England saw them run out 4-1 winners over Holland at Castelao. The highlight of the game was undoubtedly a superb hat-trick from England’s Gabby Agbonlahor.

Explosive striker Gabby Agbonlahor gave England the lead with an effort which hit the inside of the post before crossing the line in the 32nd minute. Agbonlahor added his 2nd goal of the game with a close range finish which was timed impeccably on 45 minutes.

An error from England’s Phil Jones allowed nomadic striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to score a finish executed with aplomb. Rooney scored with a well struck effort in the 57th minute to extend the lead further.

There were no prizes for guessing who completed the rout on 87 minutes as that man Agbonlahor popped up again with an accurate finish.

Here are the highlights of the game between England and Holland;

What a performance from England today, they completely out played Holland today let’s hope they can carry on playing like they have been in recent games as the Semi- Finals could be extremely hard.

Just for Ana;

So I’m guessing you will want to know what the Semi-Finals are like well I can certainly believe England have the upper hand on this occasion, after looking at the screenshot below I am pretty sure that you will guess who is in the final of the World Cup? Well I better play it and find out!

That’s right, England has got Colombia in the Semi-Finals but of course you can’t underestimate Colombia as they have got to the Semis in the first place! So here are the semis and here is my team;

According to “Football365.com”

“I think England have enough to secure a win against Colombia!”

Pre-match – For the fans

First half –

25th minute – GOAL – Wayne Rooney England

Half time – Team talk –  Encourage

Second half –

51st minute – GOAL – Wayne Rooney (2) England

Full time – Brilliant

Match report –

England 2-0 Colombia (World Cup Semi Finals)

An efficient performance by England’s players saw them confidently overcome a lacklustre Colombia 2-0 at Maracana.

Striker Wayne Rooney gave England the lead with an effort from the edge of the area which curled past the goalkeeper in the 25 minute. Colombia also saw their 27th minute strike questionably chalked off.

Rooney completed the scoring the England with an accurate finish on 51 minutes.

Here are the highlights of the game between England and Colombia;

Finally the over semi final, something I am sure Ana is waiting for well here it is;

Right so that’s where I leave you just before the Final’s of the World Cup something I am sure everyone is looking forward to the final as much as myself!

    AAAAH suspense!

    Great results, especially the Netherlands one, as much as I hate to say it being half-Dutch… good luck against Spain, as I said in your last update, time to end 48 years of hurt! :D

    Well done JC, great results allround, especially that 4-1 thumping of Holland!
    It’s going to be tough against Spain, but you have the quality in the side to win it. Bring that world cup home mate! :)

    Great job mate, I was particularly impressed with the victory against Holland! Spain will be tough, we all know that, but I believe that you can pull it off based on the form that the team has shown in the tournament. Good luck!

    Um Jon, just blocking out the scores for Spain vs Italy isn’t actually enough, since Italy was grayed out it was a little bit obvious who won :P

    The final will be a tough one, hopefully your team can turn in the performance of their lives

    And oh yeah, did you post the Belgium vs England report twice? :P

    • Jon Crosby

      31 мая, 2011 at 12:21

      Ah Silly mistake with the double Belgium post!

      And I really hoped no one would realise the greyed out, I only remembered after they played I was like «Sugar» and tried to get away with it!

    Wow, what will Ana say to this…stick by a fellow writer or go with patriotics and back Spain lol :) Well done Jon, a wonderful post and excellent results. Destroying Holland in what should have been a tight match was the turning point. I hope you can beat Spain!!

      31 мая, 2011 at 12:23

      Well I shall let her comment herself and hope she routes for me! As if we do manage to win she won’t be a massive fan of me ;)

      I hope, you hope we win!

    Hey Jon
    Congratulations on making it so far. World Cup success is so close and we know you can do it. Spain will be hard, though. Good luck!

      31 мая, 2011 at 14:12

      Hey Vaibhac

      Thank you and we are ever so close but it can all end in 90 minutes, which is sad and Spain will be hard!

    Oh no! What to do!!

    Split loyalties!

    You have done really well to get to the world cup final, but Spain look in good form and Fernando especially good.

    Not the kind of decision I want to make having finished work early! I will take the balanced side and hope the best team wins!

    Good luck! (Good luck Spain also!! ;))

    • Jon Crosby

      31 мая, 2011 at 14:14

      Haha, What a dilemma for you Ana, but good choice on making it balanced sides and the best team wins!

      A little insight Fernando is not available for the Final he picked up and injury! Mwhaha
