Good evening (or morning) folks, I’m here with a bit of a problem. I’ll cut straight to the chase — I’ve been playing my second full season with FC United, and everything was going fine and dandy until I encountered this:
It appears to be a typical crash dump error as far as I can tell, but it it’s occurring consistently on two occasions:
1) If I try to click the «Squad» button in a player’s profile, intending to assign them to the Reserve squad or U18 squad.
2) If I hit the Continue button.
The first one cropped up toward the end of last season, but is relatively livable. For one it doesn’t occur every single time, and for the other changing the statuses was something I was willing to live without. The second one is obviously game breaking, and cropped up around the 10 game mark this season.
I’ve tried the whole restoring my cache, even going so far as to completely remove and reinstall Football Manager. I’ve also tested my two other backup saves, and whatever bug is plaguing the main save is afflicting them as well. I hit the «Continue» error in each of the three immediately following my October 25th, 2015 game against Gainsborough Trinity.
So basically…anyone have any ideas?

That really sucks mate, unfortunately I am useless in these scenarios and haven’t endured a crash dump since FM10 of which I’ve forgotten the fix. Like Johnny I think the first port of call should be the official SI forums. I hope you fix it soon mate.

Try and holiday past the crash date and see what happens?
Try right-clicking a player and see if you can change their squad status that way

I did try the holiday thing, but it’s still crashing anytime I hit «Continue», regardless of how much I holiday. :( I hadn’t tried the right clicking thing, but I imagine it would work.

It seems difficult to get your game back whenever this error happens. Hopefully there are some computer experts out there who can help you. All the best to restore the game back as you are really having a good career. Good luck.

3 suggestions:
1. Completely close steam.
Go to your steam folder and delete ‘clientregistry.blob’.
Try FM.
2. Restart computer/Unistall FM then install.
3. Right click on FM, choose the option ‘Verify game cache’ or something like that.
Hope one of these work :)

Have you tried simply to delete the crash dumps file and try again? Worth a shot.
Also, once FM shuts down like this, is it still running in task manager? Sometimes that can be a problem.

Similar thing happened with my Coruxo game from last year, I never managed to fix it.
I hope you can though as this was turning into a really great story, and if not maybe its a sign for you to join me in South Africa. :)
Technology is not my friend so I have no real suggestions on what you can do, but good luck with trying to resolve your problem.

Mate, i had this on my first game in FM12 and i was also in the conference north, I decided to make a new save and i am in 2017/2018 and i haven’t had any in this save.

I’ve got the same problem Stromson, apart from mine crashes on trying to load up FM :( It happened about 4 days ago and I’ve been searching for a solution ever since, but nothing seems to work. I’ve posted on the SI forums and hopefully they’ll find a way to fix it. If I get a solution I’ll let you know :)

I’ve fixed it Stromo! Hurrah! I uninstalled a program called ThreatFire, that I downloaded to get rid of a virus. I downloaded it on Tuesday, and seeing as FM hasn’t worked since then, I suspected that it might be the problem. Uninstalling it means that FM works again :) Did you download any software just before the crash? If you did then just uninstall it, then FM should work again :)

Sorry Stromson, no idea at all.
When this type of stuff as happened to me I just delete everything and unistall steam and then start all over again with a brand new game. Frustrating especially when things start to go well.

dis happened me last year in fm 2011 a few times what i did was go into dat game file and save it under a new name and delete the original one and it started working again

Gutted. You looked set for promotion too. On the other hand does this mean the Welsh challenge could be re-started? Good luck with whatever your next story is, I love them all anyway.
