Bury FC: End of season 14/15

Hi everyone, welcome back to my end of season update. We last left off with Bury having a great chance to achieve a Champions League place, but with the run in we had, it wasn’t going to be easy with Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Liverpool to play in our last few games.

Final Results

Not the greatest start to this period as 2 vital points were dropped against relegation candidates Norwich. It didn’t get better as we slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea. We then beat Middlesbrough 5-2 but goals were still conceded. We then failed in the next 2 games as we lost to the big boys. 2 more vital points were dropped again Villa and our Europa League place was looking threatened. We then got back to winning ways with two priceless wins against West Brom and Arsenal, whom fielded a weakened team as they had nothing to play for.

But, the question is, did we get what we wanted? European Football next season?

Yes we did! Chelsea and Tottenham didn’t capitilize on our poor results and therefore we just about managed to to qualify!

Great Victory vs Arsenal!

Bury given 12m

Bury break goals record!

Now, some achievements I need to show you:

Adebayor was Premier Leagues top scorer and broke the record of Andrew Coles 34 league goals :D

Adebayor won English footballer of the year! A great achievement! :D

Petr Lastuvka broke Bury’s assist record in just half a season!

PLAYER RATING

Well, no suprise Adebayor is at the top of that list! Petr Lasuvka is one of my favourite players at the club. The Czech is simply amazing! Nicklas Pedersen scored 5 more goals than last year. Ronaldo, well you know why i wanted to keep him so much now.

Next season, we definatly need a new GK, a new CB (maybe), new LB,  maybe a new striker as a long term solution.

Well folks, thats it, Bury will be player European football next season :D

Take Care!

    Hey Sayam
Thank god you made it into the Europa League, it would have been so annoying if you didn’t. Adebayor deserved his awards, and Lastuvka was amazing for you. By the way, how did five teams make it into the Europa League?

Hi mate, yep! Thank god we made it! It’s amazing how good Lastuvka was as he only cost 55k!

Oh and Everton need to win their qualifier for a proper Champions League place. If they dont they are promised a Europa League place. Wolves won the FA Cup, Chelsea won the Europa League, and City won the League Cup which is why Spurs missed out.

Oh that clears it up. Cheers Sayam!

Wonderful work Sayam. It’s evident that you have enough firepower but your main focus this summer should be to improve your defense. Good luck!

Great job Sayam, the fifth place was thoroughly deserved. Champions League football was off limits anyway, I wasn’t aware that England had just 3 CL places in your game (probably due to UEFA coefficients). Adebayor was a killer this season, it probably was the best season of his career.

Johnny, Everton need to win a match vs another team in Europe to be guranteed a proper place. Just like Arsenal needed to a few seasons back.

      And Thanks!

Wow! Brilliant job with Bury, Sayam. It looks like you’ve got a great season ahead of you. And Europe within 5 seasons with Bury is fantastic. Congratualtions for Adebayor and hopefully your team will grow next year and you will have a great season ahead of you. Good Luck for next season Sayam! :D

    Well done Sayam!!

Adebayor was fantastic he really performed for you, Europe is a brilliant achievement and beating Arsenal was also very good!

With your attack the best in the league its time to buy some defenders!!

    Good luck!! :)

Thanks Ana, Arsenal did field a weak team so it wasn’t too dificult to be honest.

Yeah, it is time to buy defenders :)

Well done Sayam, that was an amazing season. Top five is tough to get and you’ve done it in style. Adebayour had an amazing goal tally and so did Pederson. My only concern would be getting a younger striker through the ranks with bags of talent for the long term. Also I think your defence is the main thing to concentrate on. Do this and the top four is realistic for next season. Well done mate.

Thanks Darren, it was an amazing season. If it wasn’t for Adebayor’s amazing goal tally, I doubt we would have got Europe as our defence was just too leaky.

Yes, that is my plan for the new striker: Young, bags of talent, ready to step in, when needed.

We did concede loads, and defence is the main priority in the summer

    Hi Sayam
Well done and congratulations in steering Bury into Europe. I was hoping you’d get that sixth place and you did just that. 93 goals is just amazing and if you can deal with the 61 against you’ll have good shot at the title next season. Anyway, fabulous achievement!

Thanks Kevin, we actually got the 5th place, not 6th :D

    Hey Sayam,

Brilliant season for your boys, this is the first time I have seen 5th place score the most goals! You conceded loads, all you need to do is find the weak spot(s) in defence and sort them out, then you could be looking for a few more trophies for your cabinet next season. Good luck next season.

Thanks Alex, I think it is my first time seeing a cub finishing 5th score the most goals also. We did concede loads, and defence is the main priority in the summer

    Hi Sayam,

5th place is a good finish and the best thing is you will be in Europe. You can build on this and aim for a better finish next season. Good luck.

Finishing above Tottenham, Chelsea and Man City is a great achievement, well done Sayam!

Good to see Adebayor, Lastuvka, O’Hara and Pedersen doing well for you, you’re team definitely does not lack power in the goalscoring department

I agree with your transfer targets, you just need to tighten up at the back, might want to check for any good defenders from the relegated sides esp. Bolton

Good luck in Europe, and watch out for the homegrown rules, Europa League has 4 squad slots reserved only for players developed at your own club

You might want to get a few more youth prospects to add depth, you’ll have to play a lot more games next season! :D
