Swindon Town: August 2012, The End

Hello Everyone

I’ve decided not to carry on with Swindon anymore. As you will see below their was not much improvment in August and the defeat against Derby was the final nail in the coffin. There’s really not much to write about when all the action is in your own half which has been the case since the start of 2012 and so it’s very difficult to be motivated and continue on.

I’d like to thank all of you for reading my blog and for all the kind words and support along the way but most of all my biggest thanks goes to Johnny for allowing me to be the first to post on his site and for responding to all the messages I sent him from work almost  every day. I’m sure you will agree he’s a great guy and freely gives out advice and always comments on our stories.

Here are the last results

Whether I’ll start a new story remains to be seen. For now I’m going to clear the snow off my driveway, have a cup of coffee and comtemplate my Football Manager future. I’ll continue to follow Notts County and all the other stories linked to this site as they are a superb read and well done to everyone for your achievments so far.

If anyone wants to contact me I can be reached at kevin.mayo@aegoncanada.ca   (Mon -Fri) or kevin.mayo@live.com  on the weekends.

Johnny, I’ll leave it up to you in how you want to handle all the previous posts, i.e. whether to delete them or not.

Regards, Kevin

I’m sorry to read this ending Kevin but I understand your choice. The posts won’t be deleted, it would be a shame to delete all that wonderful writing. I hope that you’ll find the motivation to start all over again.

It’s sad to hear that Kevin. I think that you should have a little rest before you choose whether to start a new story or not. Id you do decide to do a new story I would suggest Aston Villa or Everton.

    Good Luck!

Hi Kevin, sorry to hear that you are leaving Swindon.I thought you had a wonderful career, probably the pressure of delivering got to you or you set too high of expectation for your Swindon team. But i understand why you decided to leave as everything doesn’t seems to go your way this season.
Have a good rest and take a break. I will miss your writing and hopefully you will find the motivation to begin with a new team and a new career. Hope to see your posting again as your story is always one i look forward to.

Sorry to hear you story end like this, but I can understand it. That’s actually how a lot of my attempts at managing clubs in FM09 ended, so take heart from that. The fact that you managed to get Swindon up into the Premier League is still a good feat.
Hope to see you pick up another story once you’ve had some time to work out what to do next.

Cory: Thanks for your suggestion and especially your confidence in my abilities :) I will have to respectfully decline as in keeping with the spirit of this site and what drew me to it originally I would prefer to start with a lower league team again.

Ziggy: Thanks for your support mate. That’s actually refreshing to hear your comments as I was begining to think I was just lousy at the game. I really enjoy corresponding with you and all the other guys.
