Season Review Pt 2 — 38 Games Gone 6 To Play

Season Review Pt 2 — 38 Games Gone 6 To Play

Update will include the results up to the first result in May, and all the January transfers in and out.

The January Sales!

Only one outgoing for my team :

Not really much to say about this tansfer, never played him this season so was an easy choice to let him go.

Players In

Tried to strengthen the weaker areas of the team, and in my opinion managed to get some really good players, considering the stature and finance at the club! So here is a quick look at them.

As you will notice Zanev was bought for money! Infact he is now the club’s most expensive player!! He used all my £21k pound transfer budget but I felt he was worth it. Next a look at each of the new players.

Richard

A really good defensive minded midfield player, who will replace Thiago Xavier. Good work rate, team work and determination along with good tackling should hopefully break down more of the opposition’s play

Jhoel Herrera

As I said in the previous post, our first choice right back Inaki Descarga is hopeless! So I signed this Peruvian to replace him. Good well rounded player and should improve our very weak defence.

The record breaker next! :)

Petar Zanev

As you can see a fast left back! Pace is a real problem in my team but I think I managed to pull off one of the best transfers in the league this season. Again with Herrara is well rounded and again sould help our defence.

Cristian Mora

The defensive area continues to improve with this new goalkeeper! Like I have said we are so bad at the back, letting go of many leads so thats why this keeper was bought. He is so much better than Jauregi he should compliment the rest of the squad perfectly.

As you may have noticed two more South Americans, so what about squad numbers? Well both Thiago Xavier and Ivan Udarevic have lost the EU shirts and Mora and Herrara will get them. Both have really under performed this season so the choice was fairly easy to make.

Table And Fixtures

Ok the results first :

As you can see our home form is superb only one defeat against Betis, and is the main reason why our survival is almost confirmed. In that period we also picked up 9 away points which for us is quite unbelivable!!

We were also were involved in a record breaking game :

This was the highest scoring game in this league’s history, and in a way highlights perfectly the good and bad of my team. We score plenty of goals but we conceed loads too, we have improved but this result avenged the 5-2 reverse fixture when they beat us!

The table reads something like this, 56 points from 38 played. We are currently 6th in the league only 9 points from the 3rd promotion place! A good run in the last six games, with results going our way and we may sneak up! Unlikely I know, but at least we have survived this season.

The club has been steadily making a profit so hopefully going into next season we can strengthen again and maybe push for a top half finish again!

In the last part of the review, will be the best and worst players award voted by me! The final league standings and a possible promotion???

Wait and see!! :D

Hi Ana, your team really performed well in the second half of the season. Well done. But your team need to work harder as you are 9 points off the last promotion place. I hope you can do it. Good luck.

Confident performances there and some good signings in Mora and Zanev!

Hopefully you can pull off a promotion and then get some money to sign players from, otherwise it wouldn’t be that bad to hang around in the adelante and build a stable team.

    Good luck Ana!

Well done Ana wasnt expecting you to finish the season so quick. You made some good signings and your team is playing well. Promotion looks impossible though.

@ Lye — Thanks! Its a big ask, but I aimed for survival so to achieve that has taken all the pressure from my team. Its along shot and we do need results to go for us, but anything can happen!!

@ Majk — Thank you! I agree! Another year to stabalise the team wouldnt be a bad thing but am more than pleased with the January finds!

@ Micheal — Thanks for the comment! To be honest I am almost twelve season into this game (But alot of twists and turns to come! ;)! But I dont want to spoil too much! Our team is playing well but agreed that promotion may be just to far this season!

Good signings there, well done. I’m quite curious to see if you managed to get promoted, that would be a superb comeback after a not so great start of the season.

@ Johnny — Agreed , but its a bit of long shot! Results must go our way to stand any chance, but at least we have staved off relegation!

@ Kevin — Hi! I have England (League 2 and above), France (Top and first division), Italy (Serie B and above), Spain (La liga and first division), Holland (Top and first division) and Germany (Bundesliga and first division). My database size is large!
