Season Review Pt 1 — The Halfway Mark

Season Review Pt 1 — The Halfway Mark

Well this update will take us just past Christmas and into the winter break, with my little team from Spain!

Note I forgot to take any screenshots of the league table! But I will explain where we are when I can.

Table and Fixtures

Like I said no table forgot! but I can tell you that we are currently around 14th with 21 points from 18 games. So not exactly halfway but close enough!

The top three have around 45+ points so we are a fair way from them, the strugglers have around 18 or less points so our bid to survive is so far looking ok.

A look at our results next….

As you can see our home record is where we get 90% of our points, only losing twice in 9 home games. Our away form is, well not so good! But remember we still are one of the worst teams in the league.

I would like to draw your attention to our cup game against Espanyol.

In this game we were 20-1 to grab a win so to get a draw was a fantastic effort from my players. The return leg…

A game that we were 50-1 to get a win! But another fine performance, we also hit the post late on which could have forced extra time but no luck!!

The Ever Changing Tactic!

Early on I tried a few formations, 4-4-2, 4-4-3, 3-5-2 and many more but I have finally settled on this tactic I made. It seems to be working ok at the moment but I really must change it for away games as we are getting over run.

As you can see it allows me to play two stikers with Gaitan playing wide left. When it works and we play well we always look dangerous, however we can also get outplayed so what I have done is decided to drop my wide players down a space, to give more balance and support to the defence.

My Top Three Players So Far

Pedro Alcala — The giant on-loan defender is a must pick for my side. He leads the defence and is a great danger for set plays scoring 7 times this season. Malaga want £250k pounds for him which is impossible for me to get.

Walter Gaitan — My first signing and well without him we dont create anything! He already has 6 goals in the league and has 17 assists and is easily the best player we have.

Gorka Brit — My best forward and biggest goal threat, already has 12 goals to his name and looks a real danger at this level. Hoping he can stay injury free and keeps scoring!

My Worst Three Players So Far

A bit harsh but I have to let you know who is letting my side down!

Inaki Descarga — Club captain but a mistake waiting to happen! Has already given 4 penalties away this season, and has been sent off 3 times. Poor passing often gifts the opposition goals, will be removed of the armband next season!

Ivan Udarevic — A poor signing! Makes a lot of mistakes, often out of postion and along with Descarga gives penalties away (Only two but still!). Has lost his place to Chalwe and Alcala and to be honest has little chance of winning it back.

Marco Paulo Rebelo — Lopes — Harsh choice to him being injured for about 16 games this season! But on high wages means I have to put him here, Hopefully he can regain his fitness and start scoring some goals!

Part 2 of the season will follow soon, and the media prediction of a relegation battle seems spot on! But with the window opening soon I am looking to re-strengthen my little squad.

    Hi ana,

You seem to be doing ok so far this season and hopefully you will progress as the season continutes. Its unfortunate that two of your signings have been dissapointing and they should be able to turn it round soon.

That seems to be a nice attacking set up Ana, I like it. Well done on the close tie with Espanyol, your lads could have produced the upset with a bit of luck.

I hope you can sign some quality players to push your team up the table. I believe you should avoid the relegation easily. Good luck for season part 2.

@ Sam — Thanks! Yeah, to be fair on Rebelo Lopes he has been injured but plays well when I can get him fit! We are in mid table so not too bad so far.

@ Johnny — Thanks! My style on FM is always to be very attacking, being a Barcelona fan its seems wrong to try anything else! :) Close! But was still very pleased with my players!

@ Lye — Thanks also! Yeah I believe that we can survive as we compete well with all the teams we have played. A few more good signings could maybe see us climb the table.

    Thanks Frank! :)

I give them an official warning a few times then a weeks fine, then a two week fine! But only if they play really badly!

Yeah, Inter played very well but still another leg to play and if Messi can perform like he did against Arsenal then the tie is far from over!

    Fingers crossed! :D

    Thanks Kevin!

Yeah, we struggle away but I think I am a little to attacking! I should maybe tweak my formation a little but I hate defending! :)
