Hey everyone, welcome back to my Queens Park story. I havn’t posted in a while, that’s because I havn’t played much of my Queens Park file in a while. Everything has settled and I can post regularly again. Yay! Anyway, in my previous post if you remember we did alright in August, won some matches and then lost our last two I think. This post will cover my results from September until November thus let’s see how my magical Spiders have settled in the First Division.
Sept-Nov results:
Unfortunately our dismal run continued as we managed a disappointing draw Morton. We then got beaten by Hamilton, but we reached the Challenge Cup semi final with a comprehensive victory over Morton at home 3-1. Kilmarnock trashed us 3-0, but what followed after shocked me, and probably the nation as well. We polished ourselves off to launch a raid for the title, five back to back wins saw us rise from beneath the crust of the earth to the dizzy heights of the First Division. Yes, in under just five matches, we somewhat fortunately found ourselves challenging for the title. Could this phenomenal run continue or would the peer pressure of challenging for the title utterly destroy my squad? The answer is the latter. Following our astounding winning streak, we endured a terrible November. No win in five, and only three points out of a possible fifteen. This frightful form has plunged us back into an unnecessary relegation battle. Agh the thrill of being amateur :-)
Table:
Our league position has improved since August, amazingly were both in a relegation battle and in the midst of a title challenge. Some wins could propel our title challenge, or some bad form may see us dragged closer and closer towards the wrong end of the table. One thing I’ve learnt thus far is that Brechin WILL finish bottom.
Player ratings:
The majority of my players have been mediocre. Mayulu has impressed, Guy has been alright, Jean-Marie has been OK too. Reece Hands is superb! Everybody else has been extremely inconsistent and if we succeed in staying up, I will revamp this team for next season and lead a properly organized title challenge. Until then, this depressing group of individuals will have to stay.
That’s it for today’s post, thanks for reading and take care.
Sears

I’d say a mid table position should be your target now given your apparent inconsistency. It seems when you play well, you play very well and can seemingly outclass most of your opponents, but when you play badly, you play very badly.
Best of luck for the rest of the season anyway.

You’ve summed it up perfectly MRDNRA. On our day we can be superb, but those days come extremely rarely now. I’m still ecstatic with how well we’ve done thus far though. Cheers.

Hey Sears, your Spiders are very unpredictable. Like you said, promotion is still realistic but relegation is also a worry. Hopefully you’ll manage a top four finish but I honestly couldn’t call it. Good luck mate, its going to be an exciting end to the season. :)

My Spiders are immense :-) Anywhere above 9th spot will be superb. Cheers pal.

Finally, somebody apart from Darren posting!
I honestly believe you will be an amateur club forever :(
Not bad, I think your squad isn’t great and I would personally not enjoy being in your position, if you bring in somebody decent and he plays well the chances are somebody will take him from you. You should survive but a title challenge may just be out of your reach this season, good luck though :D

I know we’ll be amateur forever so I’m going to try increase my reputation in Scotland and hope to get a more suitable job. Your right, my squad isn’t great, but considering our amateur status I’m never going to have a ‘good’ squad. That’s the beauty of managing an amateur team. I wouldn’t want to be Real Madrid or Man City where I could sign anybody I want and spend huge amounts of cash. I’m quite happy with Queens Park :-) Thanks for the comment.

I’ve never seen such a tight table after 16 games, we should be in for a thrilling finale! Good luck!

Yeah, it’s extremely tight. Just goes to show how inconsistent everyone is! Thanks Johnny.

Brechin=Derby County
They need to draw 3 games or win 1 more to be as good as Derby when they were in the premier league!

Ha, they just beat me 1-0 :-(

Not bad Sears, I reckon you’ll avoid relegation and you could even challenge towards the top of the table. As long as Mayulu keeps scoring you should be fine, a safe mid table finish is what I’m predicting for you. Good luck!

Hi Sears,
There are still some games to play for and hopefully your team will start to improve. Overall you have done a good job considering the resources and restrictions you have. Good luck for the rest of the games.

Hi Sears
I haven’t been able to connect to the site for days hence this late reply. Glad to see you posting again even though it seems you are in a much tougher battle than ever before. Given the closeness in the standings anything could happen so I hope you’re able to lift the Spiders up for the second half of the season. Good luck!!

That’s OK Kevin, don’t worry about it. I’m happy to be back posting again, my love for Queens Park has reignited. I’ll be pleased if we stay up, that was my main aim at the beginning of the season. It would also be nice to finish the season with some consistency. Cheers Kevin.

Sears,
your team is better than relegation battle, you will get mid table finish or better
one question, why your team status is still amateur with that achievement?
(btw Brechin is extremely horrible)cheers :)

Thanks Timmy. Yeah my team is better than that and thankfully we’ve won a few games and extended the gap between ourselves and bottom. Queens Park will always be amateur. It’s just the motto of the club, »to play for the sake of playing». Brechin have actually won a few a games now :-D

This reminds me of when I was at Cheonan, two wins could put you top two defeats and you could be bottom!
Its very close mind so am hoping that you can survive and a good run and you could be pushing for a promotion!!
Good luck Sears! :)
