New Story, Coruxo : FM 11!

Hola a todos! Or hello everyone!

Am finally back from my trip and it was amazing! Spent all my time with my boyfriend in Germany and what a fantastic place! Its the last time I will see him until February so I have to spend Christmas on my own! :(

But enough about my real life! I bought my copy of the game on Saturday and decided to do the weakest team in Spain, as its my favourite league and the one I know the best!

So lets have a little introduction!

Coruxo F.C were formed in 1930 and play in the Segunda division B Group 1, their are 4 groups in total and how it works I am not sure yet! Adds to the unknown I guess!

They play at the stadium O Vao, standing at a colossal, 1500 arena! But its not a bad little stadium,

Now like Johnny’s story our clubs are very small! And our teams are very poor however while he has to put up with the hardship of the English weather this is were my stadium is situated!

So even if my fans hate the way I set their team up, at least they have a beautiful golden sandy beach to relax on before games! Quite a glorius place to have a stadium I think, imagine Barcelona and Real Madrid coming here!

So like I said bottom league I could in Spain and the worst team I could choose, but great weather and a beautiful beach so things could be worse! A little snapshot of team info :

So basic facilities, minimal youth setup, poorest team in the league, smallest stadium but at least a nice chairman who loves his club!

Coruxo’s history isnt fantastic in their 80 year history they havnt lifted a single trophy and their biggest achievment to date was promotion to this league where I am now! They have no legends, no icons but an ambious manager!!

The team is everything you would expect for a newly promoted team with limited resources, my assistant compiled a team report and here it is :

So not great, I must admit I have a couple of, well decent players! The best probably being right fullback Alberto Garcia (No relation!) a former Celta Vigo B player. Jacobo is also a good fullback and seeing as I use them quite alot its nice to have them as our best players.

Antunez is our record appearence holder with alomost 100 but our new strikeforce of the pacey-ish Santi Domiguez and towering 6′ 4» Zurbano could form a decent pair. My formation isnt going to be 4-4-2, but am still experimenting so bare with me!

So avoid relegation is my target not to ambious but am trying to get used to all the new features etc in the game so dont want to over extend myself. We have a massive £12k to spend which is very generous so I will do my best to spend it wisely, and we have a good wage structure so I can afford to bring in some more players.

Like Johnny only one journalist came to hear my first interview but the end response was exactly the same I guess were both very alike in our thinking!

So thats it! I will post up my squad and friendly games next time along with the new faces at Coruxo! Just to let you know that Real Union, my former team in the previous game also play in this division but play in group 2!

Finally a snapshot of the area where Coruxo is situated in Vigo in the Galicia region which is sort of the most North West point in Spain.

Thanks for reading and hopefully you will join me on my journey.

Hi Ana, looks like you’ve got a really good story in the making, it will surely be a great challenge. The lower leagues are always very interesting, I’m sure this will be the same. Good luck!

      Hi!

Thanks, it will be more of a challenge than my old Union game as everything here is almost basic so will have to work hard to improve the club.

Am still learning about the lower leagues in Spain but am enjoying the little time I have spent on it so far!!

Hi ana good to know your back from your holiday safely and you enjoyed it.

I think its a good choice of club and it will be a real challenge.

Also, how is 12k massive? :L

And are you sure there isn’t any relation with your right back ;-)

It is actually fairly generous to give 12k, considering in the blue square premier you hardly ever get a transfer budget !

      Thanks Sayam :)

Well £12k is big as I usually get nothing! My whole clubs value is £200k so to £12k to spend is quite alot!

Ha! yeah am pretty sure we are not related!!! :D

    Welcome back Ana!!
Not bad having a stadium right by the beach. I wouldn’t mind playing for that team if I wasn’t so old and I could speak Spanish :)
I think you have a classic story in the making and I’m looking forward to your new adventure. Hasta la vista!

      Hi Kevin,

Thankyou! Its a great place for a stadium!

Hopefully I can bring a little success here but its a big challenge.

    Hey Ana!
Glad to hear you had a nice holiday. You’ve an interesting story in store for us, and like Johnny, your managing an extremely poor team. I decided to manage Bilbao as there only allowed to sign Basque players. Any suggestions??

Kevin — My local Gaelic Football stadium is located right beside a beach, and trust me, it’s not an ideal place to be kicking a ball around. The wind is ridiculous must of the time!

      Hi Sears
Well I see my namesake team is top of the GAA National League

      Hi Sears,

Thanks I am looking forward to it.

Bilbao is a tough challenge! Like you said only signing Basque players but I suggest that you invest in the youth and training so you can hopefully produce a few local players to help your squad.

Also use the search thing to find Basque players and try to bring them in, but I always love hearing about stories in Spain so please let me know how you get on!

Oh and am not sure if you know but Bilbao are only one of three clubs that have never been relegated from La Liga since it was formed!

Alongside Barca and Real Madrid! So they have a very proud tradition!

        9 ноября, 2010 at 15:32

Thanks Ana. IO’m really looking forward to the challenge. I will invest heavily in my youth set up as it’s the only realistic chance I have of signing any good player. There’s some good Basque players, but the majority of them aren’t interested in signing for me. I also found out that I’m allowed to sign under 16 year old Spanish player, regardless of his birthplace. Will also let you know how I do, but if you’ve any spare time, my story will appear on this website:

        Thanks.

There not a great football actually, (Kerry, where I live, are the most successful county in the country) no county team takes the National League season! Teams use it to try out new players and the GAA use it to try new rules etc. Teams try there best in the Championship, which is a knock out system.

Hi Ana, great to see you back. This should be a huge challenge not only because of the poor finances, small stadium and poor squad: you will have to keep the crowd entertained otherwise they might flee the stadium and go straight to the beach! :) So I guess you have no other choice than to play attacking football :) Best of luck, I think we’ll be witnessing a memorable story.

      9 ноября, 2010 at 13:07

      Hi Johnny,

Yeah! But am still messing around with tactics at the moment so not sure how we will play yet! I found out to my cost that attacking with Real Union at lower league wasnt the best idea so will have to find a nice balance!

The beach is tempting but hopefully the football will be even better!

Seems like an interesting story…will surely follow…

are you going to be using your old formation(from fm 10)…I really loved it on fm 10 and will continue using it on fm 11(with some changes to payer instructions)…

    • Ana Garcia

      9 ноября, 2010 at 13:12

      Hi dami,

Thanks, well I have tried it and it seems a good base to try a new formation on. I find that wingers are more determined and my full back often get caught so will tinker around with it a little.

I will probably have two strikers with an attacking midfield player as I like that setup alot. But am not sure how the rest will line up!!

At the moment is a sort of 4-3-1-2 and its working well, but am still trying to find a nice balance!

    Hi Ana,

It should be a nice place to stay. Good choice for you. I am predicting another Real Union in the making. Bet you will dominate the Spanish League once again.

      9 ноября, 2010 at 13:14

      Hi Lye,

Thanks might take me a bit longer to get to la liga and dominate it but am liking this game thus far so am looking forward to a fairly long game.

Interesting stuff Ana, a tough challenge that you have set yourself in your first FM2011 game. It might be a long slog before you get anywhere with them. I will be keep my eye on this one!

    • Ana Garcia

      9 ноября, 2010 at 13:17

      Hi Thomas and thanks!

I agree! It could take a few years to build a team just to get out of the league I am in!

But it should be fun trying to climb the table with such a small club and am glad you will be following!

Hopefully it will be a fun and interesting read and journey.

My god.. That is one HUGE challenge.. REALLY HUGE.. I tried my hand once at the lower leagues of various countries.. Always lose enthusiasm after a max of 2 years.. It’d be interesting to see you pull through this one.. Best of luck for it !!!

      10 ноября, 2010 at 12:09

      Hi Alan,

Thanks, Spain is my favourite league though so I know enough to hopefully guide this team!

At the moment just trying to get a squad together to compete so my aim of avoiding relegation is about right I think!

Thanks for the luck as I may need it! :)

Wolass! hehe nice to see another spaniard taking on the lower leagues of La Liga xD. I’m on my second year playing Marbella, trying to get them to glory. However this year they dropped from Segunda Division B2 a Tercera! So I had to go into editor, and create two regional leagues just so my B squad had something to do till I could jump up to segunda and bring them up to tercera xD fun stuff! Good luck with the club! I’ll drop a message if I come accross your squad in battle in my game ;)

    • Ana Garcia

      10 ноября, 2010 at 12:17

      Hi Sharan,

Thanks! Lower leagues is always fun and with Spain having the best league in the world it was an easy choice! ;)

Shame that they dont have any more leagues in Spain in the game below the one I am in, but I always enjoy stories about Spanish clubs so please let me know how you get on!

    Hello Ana,

Looks like you’ve got yourself a real challenge here! Looking forward to seeing the transfers and how you lead this team to glory :)

    • Ana Garcia

      10 ноября, 2010 at 12:19

      Thanks Calin,

Yeah the club is alot smaller than I am used to but having read up on them I really like the club!

Have already made a few transfers so will post them when I get chance along with the rest of my team.

Glory may take a while but so far am really enjoying this game!!
