———————————————————————

Transfers In And Out First Transfer Window

So for once I was pretty happy with my team and as such made only one transfer that was Arendse on a free transfer. I sold only one player for money that of Morfou for £150k and for once a really quiet transfer report!

Marc Andrese

So not much to say a decent young player who will provide backup to my team. Nothing to lose as I payed nothing for him but we will see how he gets on in my side.

A New Job Accepted!

So I am now the national manger of Senegal! Who to my surprise have a very good side, my aims are to qualify for the world cup and to have a good go in the African Nations cup. I will show you my two best players :

Khouma Babacar

Wow! I wonder if he would be interested in joining me at the Moroko Swallows! A brilliant striker who is currently at Chelsea and will lead the line in my Senegal side. His stats speak for themselves really!

Aliou Faye

Is he even better??!! Another who plays at Chelsea and is a winger but could easily play anywhere! Again his sats are amazing and will play a big part in my Senegal side.

The rest are pretty good also so am confident of doing well here at Senegal I would have posted more players but these two are the standouts just amazing stats!

The Halfway Point

So despite a pretty good first half we lie in second to the Sundowns! Ironically their deadly strikeforce were both players that I sold to them! So a lesson learnt do not sell players to your rivals!

Am a little worried as their goal difference is also better than mine so that could be another point to them but we have to keep going in the hope that they slip up and we can take advantage. No transfers in or out as I kept the squad together.

The Second Half Of The Season

I must admit we were quite lucky but we did manage to retain our league title but the Sundowns pushed us all the way. After the humiliating 3-0 defeat to them they had opened a seven point advantage and at one stage looked like they would cruise to the title, but we kept on going winning the games we needed to just edge clear at the end.

It was an exciting finish and at one point I felt it was over but was pleased to win the league again.

Final Player Ratings

We played alot of games and as you can see some played up to 60 games, which to players of this level is too many. Injuries were coming thick and fast towards the end as many of  my players were running on empty. Khumalo remained our best player on the right wing in creating so many chances for others.

Davids and Paulse were terrific at the back and Kirsten scored 23 goals alongside the 15 of Wayne Josephs. Lots of my players are wanted so that shows just how good they are so my main aim is to keep them together for the upcoming season.

Cup Competition

Charity Cup

The Final

So a loss and its always frustrating to lose a cup final! That said we didnt really play that well so we deserved that result and we will just move on.

African Confederations Cup

Wow, a stupid amount of games to play just to lose in the final! This is the Europa league equivalant here in South Africa so to get to the final shows that we should be able to compete in the champions league. Ismaily are a massive club from Egypt with superstars compared to us! But we gave them a game and in the end we were unlucky in my view.

The Knockout Cup

The Final

The South Africans sure do love there cup competitions! This one was a pretty easy final but we had to come through a edgey game against the Orlando Pirates winning on penalties. Set pieces were their undoing as Davids scored twice from freekicks, Van Heereden added a great finish to seal the trophy.

So thats that! Another season down and another title and and trophy. As I have said before I will only post the cups I get to the final of so its safe assume that I did rubbish in the others!

My next post will include the champions league  results as we try to qualify for the group stage, it will also be the post were I will show my world cup results and the results of my first ever African cup of Nations with my Senegal side!  As always there will be twists and turns along the way so thanks for staying with me as I search for the first part of the challenge and try to win the African champions league!

Another good season Ana, in the end you deserved to win the league, although it seems like you’re missing a free scoring striker, that would massively improve your team. Hopefully you can get one in pre season and then do well in the Champions League!
Looks like you’ve got an interesting job with Senegal, Babacar’s stats are amazing, and 96 goals in 97 games and still only 28 is incredible!
Also, what’s your reputation like now?
    Good luck for next season!

      Thanks Laxeyman,

I agree about the striker, trouble is I am only really limited to South African players I found an excellent player from the Ivory Coast but he just kept failing to get a work permit so i just gave up.

Good South African forwards are few and far between so its hard to get a decent one! Yeah he is amazing! Like you said 96 in 97 is fantastic hopefully he can continue scoring now I have joined!

My reputation is still continental but I have been linked to some biggish clubs without being offered any!

Hey Ana, you managed some good form there and won the league despite heavy resistance. You were unlucky in the two cup finals lost but that Knockout Cup (very original name lol) seemed yours from the off.

Senegal seem like a challenge but capable of a big shock! And that regen is just crazy, Chelsea must be incredible in your game. :)

      Thanks Darren,

There are about 6 cup competitions in South Africa! So the names are a little obvious! My team played so many games that it was down to injuries that the league was so close I think.

Senegal is something different, I must admit their team is pretty fantastic which surprised me a little so was pleased when I saw the players I could choose!

Yeah they have a great team, I dont have England selected but they have won the premier league quite a few times! :)

    Hi Ana
Well done on another great season though too bad about the Confederations Cup. Looking forward to see how you do with Senegal

    • Ana Garcia

      Thanks Kevin,

The confederations cup was just annoying to play so many games to lose the final, but I was happy just that I could compete with the sides I will be facing in the upcoming champions league.

Senegal is a nice team so am hoping that I can do well in the world and African nations cups.

Good luck next season in the African Champions League, those Egyptian sides can be very hard to compete with, hopefully you can win it quickly and proceed to another continent

    • Ana Garcia

      5 марта, 2011 at 14:11

      Thanks CsAtlantis,

Agreed they are indeed massive clubs full of quality players so my best chance is to hopefully avoid them until the final!!

I quite like South Africa so I wont mind staying a bit longer until I win the champions league.

So unlucky in the Champions League, if only you could get Babacar :P
That regen is unbelievable, are Chelsea the best in England, with those two I can imagine the Blues dominating.

    Good luck next season :)

      I mean Confed Cup :)

    • Ana Garcia

      5 марта, 2011 at 14:16

Thanks fmcrazy! (I like your name! :))

Sorry for the confusion but that was just the confederations cup sort of the Europa league equivalent in South Africa, my champions league will be in the next post.

Chelsea could just loan me Babacar if they dont want to sell him to me! :)

But they have a great team Chelsea built up of largely African players.

Great post and of course a great season.
Your team played a ridiculous amount of game only to lose in the final? That’s gotta be a hard slap to the face. Well done on getting another 2 trophies there.
Looking forward for your next post, Ana.

      Thanks Wazz,

It was hard to take! We also played very well and were very unlucky in both games but it just wasnt meant to be. But like you said another two trophies so was pleased with that!

Well done Ana, that was a fierce title race! Too bad about the Confed Cup final but I guess you’ll be making up for that in the Champions League next season. Good luck with Senegal as well, a good run with them might boost your worldwide reputation.

    • Ana Garcia

      5 марта, 2011 at 14:25

      Thanks Johnny,

It was very close! I was annoyed though as their strikeforce were both players I sold to them! Yeah at least I can compete which is the main thing so am looking forward to how I get on.

Thats what I was hoping to do with Senegal, if I can have a decent world cup and do well in the African cup of nations it should push my reputation up making it easier to find a job in the future!
