Hi guys, it’s there: Football Manager 2013 will be out on November 2nd, just after midnight GMT. Here is the official announcement from Miles Jacobson:
I’m really excited to be able to announce that the release date for Football Manager 2013 on PC & Mac will be Friday November 2nd at 00.01 GMT – that’ll be the time we’ll turn on the Steam servers to allow people to start playing the game.
This year we also have a very special reward for those people who have pre-ordered the game from participating retailers – you’ll actually get to play a version of the game 2 weeks upfront.
So, 2 weeks before release those who have pre-ordered (from participating retailers, which I’ll have to repeat every time for legally type reasons) you’ll be able to download a beta version of the game which will be very close to the final game, and play to your hearts’ content. The beta will include FM, classic mode & challenges, but will not include the network game.
This beta version will be playable until Monday November 5th, so if your game doesn’t turn up until Monday’s post, you’ll still be able to play, but you’ll need to install the finished game after that point.
Saved games will be compatible with the final game.
As an extra special bonus, people who buy FIFA13 (PS3 & Xbox 360) from GAME retail outlets in the UK and pre-order FM13 from them at the same time will get a voucher for £5 off the retail price of FM13 on its release. This offer is only available til the shops close on Monday 1st October.

Our distributor, DLGamer, informed me that all of those who pre-order or have pre-ordered from our Games Store will receive the serial keys two days prior to the beta live date. Then, when it goes live, you will be able to download the beta through Steam.

Is the Beta the demo? I’m a bit confused, and also, will I get two codes, one for beta and one for the full game? I’ve always brought the disc copy of the game but this year I’ve brought it from your store, but I’m not sure how it works.

It’s quite simple if you bought the game from us:
1. You will receive an activation code via email.
2. You will enter that code in Steam and then you will be able to download the beta two weeks before release date.
3. On release day your game will be updated through Steam, nothing to worry about, no new activation codes.
The beta is more than the demo as it will be the full game with no restrictions. It will probably have a few bugs though, given it’s a beta version.

DL-Gamer porovides a Steam activation code, not the game. So if you buy via DLGamer is the same thing as if you would buy from Steam. I have asked both SI and DLGamer and I have the confirmation, nothing to worry about.

Thats definitely tipped the balance to get the game from you guys. I’ve been reading your stories for an age and if I’m having a slow month losing inspiration for the game — you get me back on track — bringing out the desire to win again. I normally prefer to have a hard copy in my hand in case of internet problems, but getting it early and reduced rate is an absolute steal :p
Keep up the good work and any tips on how you could start your own story would be appreciated — I’m not hugely technically gifted but my love of the game over many years I’d love to give something back to the FM community

Abou the game, I think that having the game through Steam is much better than owning the DVD, mainly because you can download it whenever you want and as many times as you want, provided you have a legitimate activation code.

I pre-ordered the game through DL-Gamer and now when I go to my account I see: Football Manager 2013 (PC — Mac) Preorder available the 11/02/2012 at 00:01 GMT +1 . How come? Wasn’t it supposed to be 10/19/2012 ?

It should be just a glitch in their system, I asked them earlier today and they confirmed that all those who pre-ordered will receive the activation code two days prior to the beta live date and then will be able to download the beta. I’ll keep you posted if I receive further info.

Dear FMstory fellows,
In a way to clarify some points with our FM13 offer, we permit to post on that thread since you’re quite active :)
Since the date for the beta in unknown for the moment, the date that comes show up in your account is only related to the final release date, we’ll probably change it once we get more information, but anyway don’t worry you will be delivered in time to acces the beta :)
We’ve also updated our games pages to avoid any more misunderstanding.

The editor probably won’t be in the beta but it will be included in the final game.
