A while ago I published a shortlist with the best free players in Football Manager 2011 and I promised back then to deliver other such shortlists to help you with your scouting. It took me a while but it’s finally here: a shortlist with the best under 18 wonderkids in Football Manager 2011! Why under 18? Well, in my view you can’t call a 20-year old player a wonderkid, can you? The main reason is that you can get most of these brilliant youngsters for less money when they are under 18 years of age and also their wage demands tend to be lower overall. Now let me explain how I compiled this shortlist of 115 great under 18 prospects. I started a test game with all the possible leagues loaded and I chose to manage Arsenal because of their vast scouting network. Then I sent the scouts all over the world and then advanced about six months into the game until I felt we found all the great youngsters we could find. Then I started the game again with the same database to capture the initial status for all of these players. The list is rather long but don’t bother writing their names down, I will provide a ready-made shortlist with all these youngsters to import into your game. For each player you will have the following information: name, profile picture (click on it to enlarge the image), age, initial club, current ability and potential ability (the number of stars assigned by the scouts), the probable transfer fee and also the player’s likely wage demands. About the ability stars, I’d like to point out that around 2.5 to 3 stars mean that’s a good Premier League player and over 3.5 stars usually mean that you’re in front of a probable leading Premier League player. Let’s begin!

Downloaded the test and put it in a newly created shortlist folder, but nothing appears in game. I saved a new shortlist of my own, yet it wasn’t on the drop down menu, but the file is in the folder. Am I looking in the wrong place in game, or is it just going mad? I’ve restarted the game multiple times.

In the game you have to go to the shortlist screen and then to import. If the files don’t appear in there just browse to the exact location where you have the «shortlists» folder.

I signed galeano in jan of the 1 st season and he was in the championship team of the year. In the perm now and his averaged rating is 7.5 and man city are trying to get him. I’ll scout the rest aswell, thanks for this Johnny

I think he might be a regen. Look at his career stats to see which is his starting club in 2010-2011, then we might know more.

The instructions in the post are quite clear, the file should be placed in Documents>Sports Interactive>Football Manager 2011>shortlists.

It depends on the size of the database that you loaded at the start of the game. But it’s perfectly normal to miss some of the players unless you load a huge database.
