Coruxo FM 11 — 2015 : End Of Season Update

Hi everyone!

So the last time I left you I was struggling in my debut season in la liga, and despite an amazing 6-4 home victory over Real Madrid things quickly faded and we went on to lose more games than I wanted.

However with the January window open, I made a few new additions and also I will post month by month just how we got on.

So lets have a look!

————————————————-

So I made three new signings all Brazilians but two were non-foreign due to their dual type nationality. I let no one go as my best chance of surviving was to keep all the players and try to build a squad to stay in this division. As always I will show each of my new players :

Nikao

So my first signing was Nikao who I picked up for £600k pounds so I felt that was fairly good value for money. He can play as a striker or as an attacking midfield player and is young also so has time to develop.

Edu

So finally I have found a decent right back! As in every game I play I always scout Brazil for obvious reasons and once again it hasnt let me down! Edu is a bright talent with a big future I hope, and he will definatly start despite his age.

Denilson

So my final signing was yet another central midfield player! However I got a really talented footballer who was released by Arsenal. I am amazed at the players that are simply released on this game but I picked him up for free and already he is worth £2 million pounds! As with all Arsenal palyers he is technically very good ,can pass and is a good team player also. Definate starter!

January Results

So January began with well earned point at Valladolid infact we were unlucky not to take all three but Carvalho missed a late penalty after Zerbini had drawn us level. We then beat Racing thanks to a Ayala header and a much needed three points.

A dissapointing away defeat at Hercules was then followed by some revenge by Real Madrid as we were beaten 5-0 and we are are just above the relegation zone.

February Results

So February began with a great home victory over Valencia as Agirrexte struck twice to give us a deserved win. A good point at Mallorca followed before two narrow home defeats against Betis and Espanyol but another point was got as we struck late to steal a point at Las Palmas.

March Results

God, this game can annoy me at times!! We totally outplayed Almeria hitting the woodwork four times, but luck was against us as we held on for a draw it felt like two points dropped. We then missed an 87th minute penalty against Atletico which could have been the winner before letting a two goal lead slip at home to Zaragoza!

Getafe compounded our frustrating month by beating us 1-0 an own goal by Ayala….

April Results

The game definalty hates me, as we again lost another 2-0 lead! Sporting with an unlikely comeback scoring three times in seven minutes….

We were well beaten away at Villarreal and well beaten at home by Sevilla but got a deserved point at Osasuna with Kaka scoring from a corner, we have now crept into the relegation places.

May Results

Wow, the game suddenly loves me again! We began the month with a narrow win over Tenerife, Melli gifting us the win thanks to an own goal. Then a trip to the Nou Camp where we fought hard to lose only by one and in my view deserved a point.

Then a comfortable victory! Which is something I havent said too much this season as Valladolid were well beaten and Henrique finally ended his 16+ hour goal drought by scoring twice! A great away win at Racing and we made it three wins in a row thanks to Nikao’s late winner at home to Hercules in the end we were safe by seven points.

Tough season in all honesty but we pulled through with a mixture of good displays and luck, probably more of the latter! But everyone needs some luck at times and having watched my team play well and get nothing we probably deserved to survive in the end.

Player Ratings

So Mr Reliable, Kaka was our top performer and was also our fans player of the year and I cant disagree he was the only consistant player we had. Agirrexte struggled badly to score goals with a very poor return of 6 in 31 Henrique only managed 7 in 33 so both were a real let down.

Palacios as expected did well in the middle and improved when Denilson arrived most of my players found the going tough so I will need to invest well in the upcoming window so expect a massive overhaul next season to hopefully improve our fortunes next season.

Thanks for reading! Sorry for no dream start or European football or anything but we did survive which was my aim so I am not too dissapointed. With Real Union I was relegated first time so I guess I have improved slightly but I need to get rid of a lot of players who are just not good enough.

My next post will include all the summer dealings so until then bye for now!

Hi Ana, that was a pretty nerve wracking season, and I must admit that at the end of April I thought you were going down. I’m pleased I was wrong though, and it looks like you deserved to stay up in the end, so well done! The squad needs an overhaul in the summer though, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you do in pre season :)

      Thanks Laxeyman,

Me too! It was looking gloomy I admit but we hit some form which was really surprising!!

Agreed I will be doing my best to sign some better players!

    Hi Ana
Well done on surviving your first season. I remember your Real Union story and this one is certainly mirroring that — apart for the relegation of course. You made some good signings in Janaury and those guys will really strengthen your team and you will do much better next season for sure. Good job!!

      Thanks Kevin,

Yeah! Was pretty sure that we would be relegated this season but we didnt thankfully! We definatly need some new players and I will be selling of as many of these players as I can!

Very entertaining post Ana, as always you have a talent for drawing the reader in and hooking them to the story. Well done on surviving the drop…you deserved it and seemed to have dropped around 15 plus points due to bad luck, so karma saw you right in the end. Next season will be interesting, hopefully you can grow from this and get Coruxo into the top half. :)

      Thanks Darren,

Karma is right! We dropped alot of points from winning positions also but just some bad luck at key moments almost cost us. Hopefully we can be a bit safer next season!

    Hi Ana,

I guess that’s pretty tough for a debut season. You did really well in surviving and i believe you will fare better next season with more money available and more quality signings. Good luck.

Well done Ana, surviving the drop in the first top flight season is always difficult. Nikao is a player I’m very fond of, I signed him in FM 2009 and he was a star in the Premier League. The squad needs strengthening but you already have a good starting point here, good luck on the transfer market!

      Thanks Johnny,

Agreed, Nikao has some talent but we do need some new faces!

    Yay :-) :-) :-)

I’m so happy you stayed up Ana… I love foreign stories like this :-p I feared relegation following your 5 match losing streak, but thankfully you rallied your team and won 4 out of your last 5 games. Looking forward to your pre season post :-)

    Hey Ana,
Great turn around there, I thought you were going to get relegated! Maybe next season you can do the double against Real Madrid!
