Bury FC: Pre-Season Report & Squad Analysis…

Hi everyone, welcome to my Pre-Season Report with Bury FC.

Sorry it has been a long time for this post, i have been very ill with a temperature and a headace, a very bad headace were my head was going to exploid. No Joke!

So we made 6 new signings and 10 departed:

I may sign a few more players for the club before the end of the transfer window but we are already above the wage budget.

So lets go through the main players of the squad:

Goalkeeper

16 year old goalkeeper Richie Branagan is the best goalkeeper at this club despite only being 16! He could turn into a pretty good goalkeeper so he could have a long career at the club.

Right — Back

Our first choice right back will be Tom Lees who is on loan from Leeds United, despite buying Ben Hoskin on a free transfer. Lees has better quality at the moment but Hoskin has better potential and will become better. Tom Lees is also versatile and he will able to cover the centre-back position if any problems occur.

TOM LEES:

BEN HOSKIN

CENTRE — BACKS

MARCO TEANI — NEW SIGNING*

MARCO TEANI was signed on a free transfer. His attributes for a defender is really good. I was very impressed with his mental attibutes also. His pace lacks, but i don’t think it really matters in League 2. He’s never played higher than Serie B in his career and he took the oppurtunity to play in England straight away! The main thing that made me sign him was his wage! Only £475! One of my best players on one of the lowest wage, funny init?

The other centre-back position will have to be battled by the two brothers, Sam Sodje, who is a new signing & Efe Sodje, who is also a coach at the club. I’d say the younger brother, Sam, who is younger by 7 years is better but we will see. Sam Sodje joined the club after being released on a free transfer, his wage is quiet high but I needed a defender of his quality to take us to the next step.

Sam Sodge — New Signing*

Efe Sodje

LEFT BACK

JOEL SCARZ

Our Left Back for the club will be Joel Scarz who was already at the club. In pre-season he was the one who got most of the man of the match performances.

Right Midfielder

Manu — New Signing*

Manu is a spanish player who was signed on a free transfer. He has had a year with Real Madrid but never played a game. The best club he had ever played for was Malaga for 6 years.

Central Midfielders

MARCEL MAHOUVE — NEW SIGNING*

The first position of Central midfield will be the defensive midfield position. New signing Marcel Mahouve will fill this position. Despite being 37 years old, he has great ability for a club in League 2 and I couldn’t turn down the oppurtunity to sign him. His wage is very low, only £500.

Lolo — New Signing*

Lolo was also brought to the club. A funny name, I know, but hey ho! The spanish midfielder’s career never got past the third division in Spain unfortunately. He has good technical abilities, I’d regard him as a ‘passer’ the creative midfielder, which my team needed. Unfortunately he has suffered an injury which will keep him out for 5 weeks so I have a little problem to solve!

 LEFT MIDFIELDER

ANDY HOWARTH & MICHAEL JONES

These two players that were already at the club will have to battle it out for LM position. To be honest i do not know myself which one of these two are better.

STRIKERS

When i came to the club, I have to say this is the positions where we were the strongest in. The club has 3 very good strikers. Have a look: Unfortunately Andy Bishop, the best striker at the club will be missing for 4 months through injury!

Andy Bishop

Ryan Lowe

Danny Carlton

So thats my main players of my squad done.

Now Pre-Season went quiet well. We even managed to draw with Manchester United, yes it was a weak team which they played but they still played the Legendary Ryan Giggs!

 Bury 2-2 Man Utd

Me and my board also had a confrontation whether they should increase the wage budget. However they did agree with me in the end ;-)

Anyway folks, thats it and I hope you enjoyed this pre-season report.

Take Care, Sayam

    Hi Sayam, good signings there.
Try to loan some players from Premier League teams, it will be good additions to your team.

Thanks Java, I would try to loan from PL teams but we are over the wage budget so i can’t pay any of the wages of the loanees and clubs will find hard to agree with that.

Ha! Manu, I bought him on my game too!!

Pretty reliable player to be honest but am glad you bought some Spanish players! Lolo looks ok also.

Really good pre season also, especially against Man Utd, even if they rested alot of players!

Really glad your feeling better and good luck on your season. :)

ooooops, sorry Ana! Where do you play Manu in your game, on the right wing?

        No need to apologise! :)

I play him of the front two in an attacking midfield role set as an advanced playmaker, and he has a really good habbit of scoring some goals from that position.

He can also create chances, I dont play with wingers so dont know how effective he might be.

Great result with Manchester United, scoring two goals against them is not easy. The team looks fairly solid and you could boost it even further with a couple of loan signings. By the way, do you have a parent club?

    • Sayam Khan

      19 ноября, 2010 at 10:13

Yes Johnny, Man City is my parent club! :/ Like I said to Java I would try to loan from PL teams but we are over the wage budget so i can’t pay any of the wages of the loanees and clubs will find hard to agree with that.

Well, the parent club will not require any wage contribution from your club so it might be worth checking the Man City reserves and under 18s ;)

    Hi Sayam
First off I’m glad you are feeling better. I carry migraine medication with me all the time so I sympathize with your situation. I like your 37 year old Mahouve. He looks like he could be very useful indeed. Good luck as you begin your campaign.

Mahouve seems like he could do the John Obi Mikel job for us, which he does for Chelsea.

Hi Sayam, good that your feeling better, and you’ve had a pretty solid pre season. Your teams looks good, despite the blow with Bishop being out for some time. Great result against Man Utd, and good luck for the season.

Losing Bishop for 4 months is a big blow, but it happens.

Hi Sayam, you have made some very positive moves in the transfer market. Strengthening the weak areas is vital in lower league football. In my opinion Bishop and Lowe could be the difference for you though. If they play well upfront, I think you should be hoping for promotion. Goodluck mate and I cant wait to see the first month.

      Hi Darren,

I’m hoping Lowe & Bishop do bang in the goals, there is extra pressure on Lowe as Bishop is injured for four months. We’ll see how he handles that!

    Hey Sayam

Hope that you feel better and I am sure that the players that you have got and the players that you have brought in will make you feel better when the season starts. Hope that you have a good season.

Andy Howarth will be your best LM, he’s a fast, skillful player. Mike Jones, although in real life is proberly our best wide man, has very poor stamina on the game and wont last much more than a few games on the run if you choose to start him.

isnt cameron belford your best gk too?

watch out for efe sodje too, is ratings will plummet in the second half of the season due to his age.
