Bury FC: January & February 2019

Hi everyone, long time no see! I’m back from my one week holiday in Portugal and i’m glad to say my passion for Football Manager is also back! I guess a holiday was needed indeed! ;-)

Anyway, i’m sure you probably have forgotten some bits of my story so let me remind you:

Last season we came 2nd and didn’t retain our PL title due to Arsenal firing under Sam Allardyce and taking the league by storm! We also lost the FA Cup final and the Champions League final. I guess it wasn’t our year. :-( After spending 40m in the summer, 33m on a RB and a LW, our best signing was Fabio Fiorentino who was our top goalscorer. We signed him 5m. Last time I left you in the league we were:

Top of the league with a 5 point distance but a game played more than teams in 2nd, 3rd, 4th. It was tight!

Champions League: 1st knockout round against Marseille

FA Cup: 3rd round tie vs Man City

Carling Cup: Semi Final tie vs Man City

=========================================================

January & February

Premier League Results

A good start to this period, however you could call it frustation also. Drawin against the worst team in the league (villa) and bottom half teams Bolton and West Ham really dented our title challenge. Add to this Arsenal are looking unstoppable again. Excellent victory vs Man City, and hopefully we can do it in the other three games we face them also.

Man City 0-3 Bury

League Table

So dissapointing really, to end up 2 points behind Arsenal. We should really be 6 points ahead at least…

Carling Cup

So, we are through to the Carling cup final and we will play Everton. After losing the first leg, we really needed an excellent performance in the 2nd leg:

Just look at all the statistics!

FA Cup

Another great performance vs Man City but then complacency was shown against Swindon.

And lastly, our first leg tie vs Marseille. Not great hmm. Leading 2-0 and then losing 3-2. DISGUSTING!

Squad Ratings

As usual, here are the squad ratings:

Fabio Fiorentino is our best player, the former AC Milan striker was signed for 5m and is our best player this season, scoring 28 goals! Then comes one of our favourite personell at the club, Ze Carlos. The CB is deadly from set pieces and is one of the best CB’s around. He was also signed for 5m a few seasons ago.

I’ve already started to make plans for next season on outgoings:

Antonio Quimbamba will be sold and a new RW will be signed. He has never impressed, it’s a shame as he has sooo much ability. Maybe the PL isn’t the correct league for him? :-(

One of Sergio Araujo or Stefan Meyer will be sold, we have too many strikers at the club and both will bring a good fee if sold.

Anyway thanks for reading, sorry it’s been a long time. Thanks for your patience.

Great to see you back Sayam, I hope you had a wonderful holiday! About your game now, I think you’re right on course to win all four competitions and I’d be surprised if you wouldn’t win at least three of them! :) Good luck!

    Hi Sayam
Good to see you back too…it’s been a while like myself. You certainly seem to have the making of Man City and I’m sure we will see you back on top of the EPL by the next update.

Unlucky in the league mate, Arsenal just look unstoppable!! The CL result was frustrating but I think you’ve beat them by two goals in the home leg, then there’s the domestic cups also so at least your in all comps. Certainly some silverware available but as for how much and which one I’m not sure.

You’ve summed it up perfectly Darren. It would be nice to win some silverware and starting off with the CC.

    Hey Sayam
Great to see you back, I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Shame that Arsenal are 2 points ahead of you, even when you played well. You are on track to win at least 2-3 cups.

    Hi Sayam,

Seems Arsenal is so good in FM. They are the current champions in my game. Their form is just too good. Your team did not do badly at all. There is chance for you to topple them. Still in with three cup competitions. You should win us a few though. Good luck.

Nice to see you back Sayam, and you’re doing reasonably well again, you are unlucky that Arsenal are a fantastic team in your game. However, the title race is far from over, so hopefully you can regain your crown, and progress further in the other cups too. Good luck!
