Hi everyone, welcome back to my Bury story! Last time I left you in a mixed position regarding the club. The Premier League crown was almost out of reach, but we had an exciting 2 matches against Lyon in the CL and a Carling Cup final to look forward to! Lets see how we did!
Final PL Results
I’ve had enough of our league campaign this season, soo many dissapointments after the good start. We get very complacent against weaker teams but play brilliantly against really good times, as the above screenshot shows the evidence. Victories against City, Everton and UTD.
League Table
Arsenal finished on 101 points! It just shows how good they are! +73 goal difference also! City finally finished in the top 4 in my save. Gareth Bale’s teamates finished 17th!
THE LEAGUE CUP FINAL!
THE TEAMS:
Team news before the game was that Antonio Quimbamba was out injured so an out of form Alex would have to take his place.
The only formation I hate playing against is the 4-4-2 diamond! I can never handle the player behind the striker, and in this case it is Delph.
Result:
We didn’t deserve to win the game at all, look at the teams average rating! Only 6.78. However we do feel slightly robber as the goal that Witsel scored was a fluke from outside the area. Never mind, maybe next year lol.
Champions League
I’m sure you can’t believe what your seeing, but it’s true! Playing Lyon was a piece of cake for my team! Then we had a close game vs United, but came out on top in both games, and AC Milan turned out to be the same! So it was time to play Atletico Madrid, who knocked Barcelona out in the Semi finals, in the final!
The Final
The Teams:
Antonio Quimbamba missed another final through injury! Alex replaced him as usual.Kevin Lorenz was out of form and had very poor morale, and the good run of form by Stefan Meyer put him in the team.
My defence had a big job to do as they faced an attack of Khouma Babacar and Sergio Aguero! Very scary if you ask me!
The Result
Well we wern’t favourites, and we didn’t cause an upset. However my team played terrible, our average rating was 6.52. Explains everything…
Player Ratings
Araujo was our top goalscorer this season, however he wasn’t as good as he was last season. He scored 16 goals less, which is a lot. Pedro, Feghouli, Lastuvka will all be leaving… We definately need a LW or two, a new back up CM, maybe a new RB as Micah Richards is now 30 and he was very error prone towards the end of last season…
Two finals, both lost… Hmmm
Anyway thanks for reading, I hope I suprised you with our CL run!

Very unlucky there Sayam, however you can take pride from two wonderful runs to the 2 finals which would’ve brought you in some cash :)

Thanks Ravenie, and it brought in a lot of cash! ;-)

Very unlucky season Sayam, hopefully next year you can rally and buy some quality players, then you can win those finals and hopefully the league.
Well done though, even if you didn’t win, and good luck for your pre-season! :D

Unlucky stuff :(
Just curious, have you considered a switch in systems and formations? The 4-4-2 seems outdated.

Hi Brandon, I do have a 4-3-3- formation as spare which the whole team is familiar with. I don’t want to change formations because I usually stick to one formation since the start of my game. I also have 4 strikers and having 3 of them on the bench would be ridiculous. The 4-3-3 is there in case of an emergency (too many injuries) or as a tactical suprise (which I hardly do) and if we are going through a bad form, it does come handy!

Ahh this has to be the most unluckiest season I’ve ever seen! Arsenal dominated the title, and you lose two cup finals… :-( Hopefully you can buy some more good players during pre season and win back your title :-p

Hey Sayam
I would not worry to much about the Champions League final, Athletico Madrid are just a fantastic team. You were just very unlucky this season. I mean Arsenal with 101 points! Imagine if you had taken that job offer.

So unlucky Sayam, I know how you feel!
Arsenal were amazing though! One defeat and over a hundred points means it was an impossible task to beat them.
Real shame that in both cup finals your team didnt show up, am really surprised that Atletico won the champions league! Who is the manager?
You just need a few new additions and you should be able to challenge for trophies next season, good luck! :)

Hi Ana, their coach is Quiqe Marcos. I wouldn’t say it is all down to the coach, they have a frightening attack which is very hard to stop!

You had a great season Sayam, you were just very unlucky. 84 points can guarantee the title in most seasons but this time Arsenal were just too good for anybody. About the finals, what can I say, I lost one too this season… :)

Hi Johnny, I guess we were both unlucky in our current seasons! ;-)

Ahh, so near Sayam! You were incredibly unlucky this season, the way Arsenal domianted the league was just amazing, and it seems like you were robbed of the League Cup too. A great run in the CL, just a shame you were up against a very good Atletico. Still, the team has a lot of potential, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you do in pre season :)

Ahhh so close Sayam…your CL form was simply stunning and At.Madrids front two would prove too good for many. I just think your players lacked that experience and cutting edge on the big stage, maybe that’s why they crumbled in the finals. But with time you’ll be winning those matches.
Ze Carlos is brilliant, Araujo had a great year despite being under par and Dudu IS better than Ronaldo in my opinion. :) Great post.

Hi Darren, I agree, experience could have been a factor and maybe next season we will be better as my players will be maturer! We had a lot of additions in the team last year, new CB (petrache), new CF (Lorenz & Meyer), new CM (Dudu), so the whole spine of the team changed last year so that could have been a factor also!

Those strikers in the final have to be the best ever. Good luck for next year. You’ll get the league title next year

Big Sam, killing the league with Arsenal? Oh well he did buy pretty smartly, you had a kit more competitions to contend with Sayam so getting to the 2 finals, especially the Champions League run where you *ahem* buried Lyon, Man Utd and AC Milan, a few more signings to rejuvenate your squad would be great, probably no harm in trying a lone striker based formation, especially as Araujo can play up front as a solo poacher
Sayam Khan
29 мая, 2011 at 12:14
Hi CS, I’m very suprised by Big Sam’s success but he did inherit Wenger’s team ;-) Like I said to Brandon, I tend to stick with one formation since the start of my game, and after listening to my cousins experience, he said it took him a whole season for his team to tick with a new formation. I also have 4 strikers and having four of them on the bench is ridiculous.

Hello Sayam
I fell your diasapointment. However you were up against an extrordinary Arsenal team in the PL and did well to come second and a fabulous achievment in taking Bury to the Champions League Final. Very well done in my humble opinion.

Blimey, how you took Bury to two finals ill never know but you did brilliantly mate and you shouldn’t be disheartened in the slightest.
Arsenal have been on fire, but hopefully you can pip them of their title and get some silverware under your belt next year :)
