Ana, FM 2012 : Season 4 Velez Sarsfield 2031-2032

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to my long pentagon journey as we are on the hunt for that elusive Copa Lib title to hopefully end my long wait. Last year I fell short due to family health problems so am doubly determined to get it and as such finish this challenge.

Velez has been an amazing club to manage and I really do like the Argentine league very much, everything sounds pretty much perfect except for my lets say our dubious chairman who seems more inclined to line his pockets than invest in the club so I have been fighting an uphill battle for money.

So lets have a look at our season went.

Jobs Accepted, Jobs Declined, Jobs I Should Probably Have Declined!

So lets start with a job I should have declined! I guess my chairman aside I really like Velez I like my squad and the progress we have been making.

Four years sound about right as if I cant claim the Copa Lib in that time then I will move away to possibly Brazil or maybe a team like River Plate if the opportunity arises.

Job declined next!

Made me smile that after sacking me about ten years ago they now want me back to manage the national side!

I declined as you can see but I did accept a new job……

Peru!! :)

I must be mad……

I guess I have nothing to lose they have quite low expectations and seeing as I am so bad at international management maybe this is the ideal job for me? Or maybe it will be another sacking but either way I will have some fun and hopefully upset some sides like Argentina or Brazil in our World Cup Qualification section fingers crossed!

Our star player is probably this guy :

Special Picture Time! The World Rankings.

That’s right Cameroon are the worlds best! Jake will be happy that Sweden come in at number eight and Tunisians and Serbians even happier at fifth and sixth.

England can be pretty happy to be ahead of the likes of Spain, Argentina and Germany but France have tumbled down to 28th position and Peru are currently 19th so not too bad in the crazy world rankings! :)

Velez Club Information and Finances

Our value has tumbled down to £29,5 million from £38 million last year into our chairman’s bank balance no doubt!

We payed back a small fraction of our debt but things stay mostly the same.

Finances still look poor considering last year we sold a star player for £24 million where did all that money go!

I fear it will a season where at the end we will be in the red…..

Transfers In and Out — First Window

Kept my buying small again with only two new faces whilst also selling two players and making a small profit of £4 million wonder if that money will be there come the end of season, I dont have high hopes.

I said in a post to Acss about a love of African players so I decided to sign one and a promising Argentine defender so here they are.

Thabang Lichaba

Cristian Dominguez

Opening Stage Results and League Table

So a really good opening stage barring two away defeats, the River one I didnt mind as they have an amazing squad but losing six one away at Argentinos I hate how at times my team get so complacent its defiantly a thing I have experienced at all my clubs but its seems to be the worst here at Velez.

However all things said we were in the Copa Lib so cant complain too much I guess. :)

My Theory Was True!!!

So last post I made some ‘claims’ about my chairman, lets say taking our money for his own and most people said it couldnt happen in the game but I now have proof!

Now I dont know if this is actually part of the game with a lets say ‘dodgy’ chairman in charge but let me put my case forward.

So Mr Matias Vergara decided that enough was enough and wanted to leave the club, however the £24 million he took from us to line his pockets just wasnt quite enough as he allowed my promising right back I posted last time Carmona to leave for almost £3 million pounds I was furious however before I could even react this came into my inbox……

Your kidding!!!

Within almost a week he left and that money? You guessed it, it never even touched the Velez bank balance (as you will see later in my post!) that’s right my chairman pocketed all that money thats the only explanation for our money problems.

I really was shocked but I guess its really a nice idea to have sort of nefarious characters in the game, I dont know if that is the case but I cant really think of another explanation as I cut all my costs to the bare minimum yet lost MORE money so I will let you decide with your own opinions! :)

Closing Stage Results and League Table

So finally we won a milestone game!!

That two zero win over Lanus was my 1,000 in charge and finally my team put in a consistent season most think the season finished in January!

However you may have noticed that we finished equal on points with Boca so you know what that means, its playoff time!

Lets see how I got on……

I’m scared……!!!

Not only did we win a playoff game we totally dominated it and yes you are reading an Ana story! :)

I cant believe it a milestone win and then a playoff win in the same season, we were in total control the scoreline was a fair reflection on the game as we claimed the closing stage as well!

Cup Competitions

Copa Sudamericana

Hate this competition!!!

Sometimes I just dont get this game how they scored six times I will never know they only had four shots on target! We did help them with two own goals, but really games like this frustrate me.

Copa Argentina

So we failed to retain our Copa Argentina after losing three two at home to Tigre I was disappointed but its life I guess!

Copa Liberatadores

The Final — First Leg

The Final — Second Leg

YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!

Sorry a bit over the top but after 1,400 games last year and another 1,000 this year I have finally done it! :)

I must say I was very pleased with myself (without sounding smug!) after such a long journey I have finally done it the last sentence in the blue box sums my journey up perfectly!

World Cup Qualification — Peru

Too good to be true so far! Something had to give as my terrible record at international level continues…

I forgot to take a picture of the league but lets just say at the moment we wont be going to the world cup, hard luck storie’s as we lost two ninety minutes winners against Chile and Paraguay so not great so far.

Final Player Ratings of the Season

All heroes in my mind!

But I cant say enough about Barreto and Choquhuenca I ended up pairing them as my two strikers and the results speak for themselves, 64 goals and 35 assists between them I really believe that Choquhuenca has all the Messi attributes.

Romero was also tremendous at the heart of my midfield and Prieto had another solid season but all in all was so happy with them all. :)

Star Men of the Season Miguel Angel Barreto and the New Lionel Messi! :)

End of Season Finances and Save Game Status

So with our new and ‘legit’ chairman! The finances are not as bad as I expected as we are still on the right side of the balance sheet coincidence that when our old chairman left we saved £10 million in expenditures?

We didnt get that much for winning the Copa Lib around £1.5 million I think so its good to have a chairman out for the club for a change! :)

Finally The End…………Or Is It!?

Phew!

Sorry for a super long post but am nearly finished now!

Where to start! I guess with the final piece of my pentagon challenge and I have loved every minute of it having looked back I am sort of proud of myself to re-do this challenge after missing out last year I know its just a game and it wont affect anything in my real life but still I set out to do this challenge and after 1,400 games last year and a further 1,000 this time (2,400 for all you bad at maths!)  I managed to conclude it.

I know I took the easier option with Arsenal rather than a team from outside the big five (England, France, Italy, Spain, Germany) so that’s the reason for the is it? Having thought about this I was wondering shall I re-do that part of my challenge and win with a team from Portugal or something? However with Johnny trying to win from a team with Romania I dont want to steal his thunder and give you a more of the same type story.

Or shall I just continue on a journey to try to and wrap up managing in every league on the game? I have managed in a lot so far but their are some that I haven’t even tried so I will let you decide, a trip back down memory lane with Real Union, or a trip back to South Africa to topple them pesky Orlando Pirates! its your choice! I will read your comments and try and pick the one I like! ;)

So again a huge thank you to everyone who has read my story and felt the need to leave me a comment, it does mean a lot to me that you take time out of your lives to read it and that I have even inspired some of you to take up some different challenges like the storie’s that inspired me to even start writing.

I play for fun and never ever fabricate my results (unless I get a crash or something but I always let you know if that’s the case) as I am in this for the challenge not the success hence why I posted my save game status at the end of every season to prove no under hand antics were used. I cant seem to get international success right yet but as you have seen I’m a  pretty determined person! So I plan to at least get to a final of a tournament but am not too hopeful!

So that’s it I guess! Again a massive thank you to everyone who as followed me from day one and those who joined the story and different points I look forward to hearing where you want me to go next but before I go here is  a picture of my manger profile, bye for now and thanks!!! :)

Note* — The formation picture is wrong! I play a 4-2-4 this is my containing formation which I rarely use! :)

Note ** — I ended up letting my assistant do all the press conference after a +1,000 games its getting pretty tiring answering all the same questions time and time again!

Its been a long journey but am very happy I managed to conclude it!

I can’t say how much you inspired with this challenge! congratulations! you were awesome all over the way, ana. it is such a great accomplishment having set yourself out to this task and getting to conclude it in such high spirits!

as for the financial part, i guess SI did not do their homework properly as i’ve gone through major issues such as my tax payments being 75% of my total turnover, or the field maintenance line being of almost 25MM euros, and many more. so, i guess they have to make and effort to correct that part.

for the next challenge, i suggest you take jake’s youth academy challenge in a new country you are not used to managing. have you tried brazil (my country! o/)? as the country has the highest quality regeneration of the game.
i’m taking the san marino challenge, now. it is tough, but doable. have you tried it?

best of luck and congrats again!
hoping to read your next story soon!

      Thanks Pedro! :)

Thanks also for your kind words am so am so grateful that I inspired you that’s the best comment I can receive! :)

I agree 100% unless they deliberately have chairman who take from the club’s balance but I guess they focus more on getting the ‘bigger’ leagues correct financially, they pay less attention to the others.

I tend to stay away from what others are doing as Jake’s having a great time doing that challenge I don’t really want to steal his thunder! I have managed in Brazil with both Sao Paulo and Cruzeiro and enjoyed it also!

I haven’t tried that challenge either am sure I will think of something to continue writing with!

Congratulations!! That’s a fantastic achievement!!! Over 700 wins and a winning percentage of 70% is absolutely incredible. It was wonderful to read your story I really enjoyed it. If you’re going to continue or start a new story maybe try managing in the Australian A-League, don’t think I’ve seen anyone do that before.

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 18:32

      Thank you! :)

My percentage increased at Arsenal and New York as I had two great teams there but in South Africa it was around 60% I think and at Velez it was around 63%.

Am really pleased you enjoyed my story, I was planning on continuing but adding the leagues etc people had suggested.

Mostly I want to beat my total games record which was about 2,900 so that’s my next aim I think! :)

Australia is a place I have managed in before but fell foul of the rules so didn’t enjoy it that much I guess I could give it another try! :)

Congratulations Ana!!! An absolutely outstanding achievement this is one of the toughest challenges to complete and you have done it despite your poor luck in play-offs and penalties. I am especially happy for you after what you endured with your Brother, to come back after that and complete what you couldn’t previously is just fantastic.

I personally like the idea of a return to Real Union as that was one of my favorite saves.

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 18:36

      Thanks Darren!

You are right, I guess in a good way its a nice sort of tribute if you like to him. Having missed out last year I was was twice as determined to complete it this time still feel weird thats its now done.

True! My luck in playoff’s and penalties haven’t really improved but I guess that’s something I have to deal with!

Thanks for the suggestion, that was the story that brought me here so it might be nice to re-live it once again.

Hayhay its complete !! Managing to overcome your meanie of a chairman and finish the challange off at the same time was great to read :)

Now.. well its up to you, but it’d be cool to see you continue this save whatever you do :) San Marino challange would be interesting like pedro said but maybe that’s best for another save..

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 18:39

      Thanks Steven!! :)

I was twice as happy to conclude it with my dodgy chairman! I still couldn’t believe it when I was writing it up that is was done!

I was like my Boyfriend after the champions league final, in total shock! :)

San Marino challenge am not sure what that is! I better check the forums and see if I can find that story as I dont really want to step on any toes by starting up a similar story if they are years into their game.

An end of a big journey.

    Congatulations on everything you’ve done.
Yo’ve produced some great players in Velez.

Ana you need to manage a Croatian side it would be sooooo interesting!!!
Good luck,I believe you will make the best decision :)

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 18:43

      Thanks Ivo! :)

I have before! I still remember buying Andrej Kramaric for my Real Union side and him scoring 202 goals before he retired then I made him my assistant manager until I stopped playing that game!

I do like Croatian players! :)

Fantastic stuff Ana and a big well done for sticking with Velez too! I love idea of you trying to win every single league; I think I may even have suggested it to you on one of your previous write ups but I can’t remember now! I would also love to see you try to win all International competitions too but might be pushing my luck with that one ;)

    Well done once again Ana!

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 18:46

      Thanks David! :)

I like the idea too, am not sure many people have managed in every league on the game so am tempted to at least try!

I would be happy to win one international tournament! Never mind them all! :)

I think a great achievement and can’t believe you have had similar problems with chairman and funding going missing and player sales with all funding going bare like 10 percent. As for ideas of who to manage now have you thought about a stint in the middle east? Or like someone said the san marino game?

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 18:50

      Thanks James! :)

It was very annoying every time I thought I had my finances at least workable the money then all disappears and am back at square one again.

I tend to manage in the leagues available in the game am not sure any countries are from the middle east are there?

I have said before that in future games I would love to have proper teams from the Middle East, Nigeria, Egypt, Japan etc To make us who love the wacky leagues enjoy them! :)

Great season Ana and you should feel just great for finally ending this journey. I believe that you should start a new save, you’ve done everything. A new with Real Union would be just perfect I think.

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 18:53

      Thanks!! :)

Am am pleased its over but at the same time I really did enjoy it so am also sad its done as well!

I could start a game but I really hate starting new games!! I tend to enjoy games more when all the real-life players have retired that’s why most of my stories go on for ages I only start again when I absolutely have to!

I could continue with this game and just add Spain and see if Real Union are their I do love that club! :)

    Hi Ana

Great job!!! You finally finished this challenge and thank you for taking on us wonderful journey around the world. This is probably the most deserving end to any story I’ve read and you should go out an celebrate completing such a task.

I have to agree with Darren that your Real Union story was equally as brilliant though I’d still like to see you manage Benidorm :)

    Way to go amiga!!

      21 мая, 2012 at 18:56

      Thanks Kevin!! :)

      Thanks for following/reading it!

I love Real Union too! problem is that so many people enjoyed that story it will probably turn out worse or something if I do it again!

A return home would be nice though! ;)

Not surprised that you finished the pentagon challenge in style, and nice to see that you kept up your stranglehold on the Argentenian League in the closing stage as well.
Shame you have to leave the club just as you get the new Messi!
I would really like to see a story where you started in the 3/4 highest devision, and you try and work you way up in a very poor country. But it’s your choice! Many options to pick from, and I’m sure no matter which one you pick you’ll keep your audience locked in an interesting and unpredictable story. Just stay away from countries with play-offs!

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:01

      Thanks!!

I was pleased also that we managed to have a full competitive season, rather than my team going missing in the closing stage.

I know! I cant believe how much Choquhuenca has come on since I bought him and Barreto also was a terrific player am sad to see them go!

I dont mind that! Any countries in mind?

Unpredictable is right! I could but is it really my story without a thousand defeats in the playoff’s! :)

      • saltwater

        22 мая, 2012 at 17:14

Maybe Croatia, Ukrain, Australia (if they have a league), or hell, maybe somewhere closer to home (or rather my home), like Ireland or Wales.

        • Ana Garcia

          22 мая, 2012 at 23:18

I did like Croatia when I managed there but I did really dislike Australia and I have not tried Wales or Ireland so will have look to see if any teams take my fancy! :)

Hmm, I think management in China would be cool.
Other than that though, this story has been an awesome read! If I wasn’t also doing a pentagon, I’d read it again, but I don’t want to take too much inspiration from it!;3
Good luck in whatever you do next, I’m sure you’ll have us all captivated; again.

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:05

      Thanks Jordon!! :)

Thanks for the suggestion, I have managed in China and Hong Kong and enjoyed both so I could make a return!

LoL! Thank you, I wish you the best of luck on your journey also!

Fantastic Ana! You finally managed to win the challenge. Despite your luck in playoffs, you won it! I missed out on your Real Union story, so I really want to see you manage them.

    19 мая, 2012 at 12:36

    Congratulations Ana.
I was sure you would do it, although with the way Vélez were being run, I was thinking you might have to find a different club. You’ve shown great determination to complete this epic journey. Arsenal may have been a fairly easy route to EUFA Champions League, but as everyone knows, going for teams outside of Spain, England, Italy, France and Germany, will take years to finally get there. Even then it’s hard to overcome the financial power that successful clubs from those countries have.

That complacency thing is really odd. You’d think after conceding one goal they’d wake up, but it rarely happens. The worst thing though is a player getting nervous, as it often means nobody can hit the target, even if you stood them a yard from the line in the centre of goal.

I can understand why you usually send the assistant to press conferences. They do get tedious very quickly, buy current assistant at Torquay has a habit of upsetting my players, so I’m rather stuck with attending them all. There is a most definite bug, when you’re asked about another club’s prospects in their next match, as saying they should win it, often sees your own players react badly. I don’t understand how they think that comment is putting pressure on them.

As for what to do next, I’m not sure. I’ve often wondered what the J-League is like, as I remember Gary Lineker going out their many years ago. Can’t say I’m even a fan of his, but it still intrigued me, that he took such an unusual step to go to Japan.

    • Kevin

      19 мая, 2012 at 15:35

      Hey Ziggy

J-league, that’s a great idea and something completely different

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:14

      Thanks Ziggy! :)

I was planning on leaving Velez but with the team I had I wanted to stay just a few more seasons and am glad I did!

True, I tried to win the European champions league with Sporting from Portugal and was about around nine years and still never made the semi finals.

At times my assistant does upset my players but not too often and it saves so much time rather then clicking the same answers to the same questions every single time!

I have wanted the Japanese league in for a while but its not in the game and I dont like to download leagues as either I can never get them to work or they crash as I am starting to enjoy them.

Hopefully they will add them in the new game! :)

      • Ivo Knežević

        21 мая, 2012 at 20:48

You already have the Japanese league in the game.
        It’s the J-league.

        • Ana Garcia

          22 мая, 2012 at 23:20

Hmmm, I loaded up my game and Japan is defiantly not there as its a league I have wanted to manage in for a while.

There are other Asian countries but no Japan unfortunately.

This is my first time ever writing on your FM Blog and i just want to congratulate you on completing the Pentagon Challenge!

Also i reconmend starting the challenge from scratch again. XX

      Thanks Jack!

Its been a long journey so am happy its done!

I honestly wouldn’t mind doing it all again! But not straight away as I want to try some different things first! :)

    19 мая, 2012 at 14:07

    Congrats, Ana!

I haven’t been following your story from the beginning like most of your readers here. Actually, I was bored one evening and began reading the stories here.. well, it took me a while to get through 4 out of 5 the steps you took at once but what a fantastic read that was. Kept me up for half the night and inspired me to try and manage a team outside of Europe. Andso I stumbled upon a J-League db…

TheZiggy suggested it and I also feel it would be the perfect challenge for you. The rules are similar to the argentine league — only 4 players outside of Japan can be registered, 1 of which needs to be asian. And while in Argentina you get fantastic regens, not much talent comes from this part of Asia so you basically recycle what’s already there! It’s fun and challenging and you should definitely look into it :)

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:21

      Thank you!!

Am so glad you ventured outside of Europe! Honestly there are so many great leagues and games to be had outside of the normal teams people go for that’s why I enjoy trying to explore them all!

I have this funny thing about downloading leagues I tend to be a little 50 -50 with them, I know that sounds strange but I like to play as the game comes and I do really hope they add Japan and leagues like Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt etc on next years game as all are places I really want to try! :)

Heey Anna! You’ve done a great job so far and i believe you should set your sights on the world cup!! Also, I believe you should try and manage a team in Scotland that’s not Rangers or Celtic since they always win and try to win the champions league from there! Anyway well done!!

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:30

      Hi Dan and thanks! :)

World cup may be too far out of sights with my record at international management!

I did manage Celtic in a story I wrote a few years ago and it got far too hate filled, political and downright nasty very quickly so I tend to stay away from Scotland.

I know that’s pretty judgmental as not every person is that way inclined so I do apologise to anyone who finds that offensive in anyway but that’s from my own experience I saw first hand.

But the idea of managing a lower league side may be less controversial I hope!

Congrats Ana! Incredible achievement to finally complete the Pentagon challenge! It’s the hardest (and longest) challenge I’ve ever seen attempted on FM, I bet there’s not many people who’ve ever finished it :)

      Thanks Laxeyman!!

I agree in my case with the longest as almost 2,400 games and over forty in game years goes to show!

The moment I saw this challenge I had to try and complete it!

Am glad its done now though. :P

What an achievement , Incredible stuff Ana , I really don’t think many have finished this challenge specially from a girl as I am sure not many girls in the world are playing football manager :D

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:39

      Thanks Mohammad!

      I’ll take that as a compliment! ;)

Am sure there are lots of girls who try and play its just most get forced away, I myself have been forced away from a few sites I used to write at and that’s why I am so glad that I found this site with so many open minded and respectful people.

This challenge has been so much fun to play, its even opened my eyes to how many fantastic leagues are out there I want to try and discover them all! :)

Oh yeah, well done Ana! Winning the Copa Libertadores at the end of such an intense season is a remarkable achievement and one you thoroughly deserved. As for the future, Ziggy’s idea sounds quite appealing to me too :) But it’s your choice ;)

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:42

      Thanks Johnny!! :)

You know me I wasn’t about to give up without winning that Copa Lib!!

It was almost a perfect season in a way so best to end on a high I guess! I like Ziggy’s idea too but have my doubts over downloading the league to try it.

I tend to play the game as it is without adding anything to it, am funny about that! LoL! I know it sounds weird but if enough like the idea I should take a look at least! :)

Congratulations on grabbing the Copa Libertadores despite your chairman’s best efforts to undermine you Ana! Choquehuanca and Barreto have been brilliant signings

How about a game in France, maybe in Ligue 2? Plenty of great clubs with great youth infrastructure like Nantes, Lens, Monaco and the french leagues are really quite close, even PSG does not dominate the league with their money

Or maybe it’s time to retire from club football and focus completely on international management :D

    • Ana Garcia

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:47

      Thanks!! :)

I agree they both have been amazing, Choquehuenca did take a little longer to settle than Barreto but that season they were both star’s.

I love France! I have managed a few games there and wrote a few stories also but its a league I do like a lot.

Ha! I would be tempted more by retiring from international management and focusing on just club management! ;)

Wow you finally did it! Huge congratulations! :D I bet all the waiting was worth it, great season to end your Pentagon challenge with ;)

Anyway I wouldn’t know what to tell you to do next, I personally will enjoy any of your choice, either if you decide to continue this career or start another one. Good luck! :)

      21 мая, 2012 at 19:50

      Thanks Acss! :)

It was worth all the effort! I set out to do a challenge and after so long its finally done and it entertained me and hopefully the readers of my story but in a way am glad its finished!

I will probably continue this save as am really enjoying it but will just add some more leagues then pick a league I fancy! ;)

That’s great, you can try new challenges within your save ;) I was curious, what’s your place in the Hall of Fame, did you manage to reach the 1st place?

        • Ana Garcia

          26 мая, 2012 at 18:15

Yeah have a few ideas in mind!

I didnt, currently I am in 8th place well behind the leaders (over 300 points) but I will post the hall of fame in my new update!

Thanks for the reminder I should have posted it on this post but typical me I forgot! :)

    Hey Ana,
Since everyone has already said everything I’ll just say congrats!

I’ll read whatever you post next but I personally like the sounds of either a J-League story or a return to Real Union. :) Good luck in whatever you choose!

It’s really weird that So few leagues from outside of Europe were included in this year’s FM and the choice which ones to include left a lot to be desired as well (Hong Kong?!.. really?!)

Tried to think of a challenge which wouldn’t require downloading any leagues but with all fairness, it’s difficult to come up with something which wouldn’t be overshadowed by your latest tremendous achievement ;) It’s also difficult to think of something innovative as this site has some great and active storywriters :)

I personally would have wanted to manage a team in the Middle East. Wonder how’d they react to a female manager ;)

Whatever you chose to do next, I’m sure it will be a massive hit and another great read :)

    • Ana Garcia

      22 мая, 2012 at 23:25

LoL! I have managed in Hong Kong with South China!

It wasnt the most exciting league in the world and the transfer rules were horrible!

I agree! I dont want to copy any of the fantastic stories on here my main reason on doing the pentagon challenge is I knew know one was really doing it that’s why I’m struggling where to go next.

Thanks! am still pondering many ideas so hopefully I can come up with something! :)

        25 мая, 2012 at 11:15

I don’t suppose your Hong Kong save lasted long.. :P

Well, I’m not sure if this idea I’m about to suggest is fresh enough for you but.. you’ve said you like the French League. So I thought managing a League 2 side wouldn’t be much of a problem. However, to make things more interesting, you could try and make a french Barcelona out of it. With the wealth of french regens, I’m pretty sure it’s more than doable within a decade or so. The ultimate goal would be to win the Champions League with all homegrown players. Does that sound interesting enough?

I’ve had this idea before I saw Kevin’s Tenerife challenge post, to make things clear ;)

If not this, how about a collonial challenge? Build infrastructure (facilities, coaching etc) to good/top level in a club from each of the available english collonies (England included if you’d like). So the goal here wouldn’t necessarily be winning but building foundations for the future. It would be another marathon though..

The third idea would be to advance from managing some unknown club to being offered a post at a top 3 club or possibly the best club in the world at that moment. If you’d like, you could give yourself a cap of the amount of clubs you’re allowed to manage to reach the goal. As I see it, this would mean building a squad of players that can win something fast and not so much looking for future stars as you won’t manage a club long enough to see them develop :) A 180 degree turn from my second suggestion.

Sorry for the long post. Can’t wait to hear what you’ve decided :)

Err… meant Martin’s Tenerife challenge of course ;)

          26 мая, 2012 at 18:12

Hong Kong was part of my last Pentagon challenge I stayed around six years I think but it didn’t really help me as my reputation didn’t increase for winning anything.

So I left for FCAK and found South Africa my favourite league!

He stole my Real Union idea! But its fine! :)

I will think of something else, infact your first idea is something I have been planning (in another nation maybe! ;)) I did try it with Barcelona and was sacked before I got going so its something I want to do.

I will be continuing with this save though as I hate starting new games! I did plan on another idea but at the moment I dont think its going to work which is a shame as I thought it would be quite interesting but I will unveil my plans as soon as I can! :)

Congrats, really enjoyed following you save! You inspired me to have a go at the pentagon myself, though not doing nearly as good as you did. I look forward to seeing what you try next.

    • Ana Garcia

      22 мая, 2012 at 23:28

      Thanks Fergus! :)

That’s really nice of you to say.

I did do it last year as well and I did far worse than this time as I knew most of the leagues very well and knew what I was doing in a way.

Good luck on your pentagon challenge also! :)

Completing this challenge is a wonderful achievement. My suggestion for your next job would be Real Union(that’s one of my favorite stories on this site) and I still use the tactics you used for them on my FM2010 save(haven’t been able to quit yet).

Goodluck with whichever team you choose next,I’ll be reading though don’t usually comment.

    • Ana Garcia

      30 мая, 2012 at 22:46

      Thanks so much Dami!

My new post has just been posted so hopefully you wont be too disappointed! I was planning on doing a return to Real Union until Martin decided to start a Tenerife story which was fine.

But I really didn’t want to have two stories in the same country with the same goals but Real Union will always be my favourite save! :)

Am so glad you havent give up! And that the tactics are still working! :)
