Ana — FM 2011 : Seoul, Season 15

Hi everyone!

So as promised I will post the new update to my pentagon challenge that I had began posting on Darren’s old site. For those who dont know the rules the challenge is to win the African, Asian, North America, South American and European champions league starting your game unemployed with a sunday league reputation. I mentioned in my last Coruxo post I was doing this post so am hoping most you have read the story and are up to date with me!

Also I would like to congratulate my local team Carlisle for winning at Wembley on Sunday! They won 1-0 to claim the trophy and over 20,000 fans travelled down, considering that the travel from Cumbria to London is around 6-7 hours and that our County has one of the smallest population in the UK it was really great to see so many fans making the trip! Infact the population of Carlisle is about 70,000 so over a third made the trip!

So back to my story, and just to recap I left my last job at the Moroko Swallows in South Africa having just won the African champions league after eight years I think in Africa. I left for Seoul in South Korea and had a really good season last year winning the league and cup so this post will be a season long post to wrap up my 15th season on this challenege.

So this is my CV so far, anything in red was won last post and the pink is for a Champions league win with only one so far! But am hoping to make it two here at FC Seoul!

————————————————————————————-

Transfers In First Window

So the rule in South Korea is that you can have only three ‘foreign’ players foreign being anyone born outside of South Korea, they can gain citizenship but a player must spend six years in S. Korea to qualify for that.

So I sold off my only foreign player Carlos to Brazil and Gimenez on loan to clear another place. Judging by the names you will notice that only one in Korean, Du Miao is a young player from China but the same rule applies, Kim Wong Sik is an experienced Soth Korean player so here are the ones from Argentina and Brazil:

Cristiano

At 20 he has a bright future and will be a starter at the back for my team. In terms of his quality he is probably the best centre back at the club so I would go as far to say he is one of the best defenders in Korea and he will be vital for our champions league hopes.

Agustin Guerra

So another defender however Guerra is a left back who can also play in the centre. Another really top class defender in terms of the league I am in, he is another from the hotbed of talent in South America, I have made a habit of having at least one scout in both Brazil and Argentina constantly scouting to unveil players like this.

The Halfway Point

So I manged to survive the dreaded board takeover! There was a  rumour I would be sacked but the new chairman pledged his support to me despite an up a down first half of the season.

Losing our first game at home wasnt the ideal start and despite having a better team than last year we have lost four games already and are stuggling a little to find some form. Three defeats in our last four games shows that.

We are currently third in the league but the top six all qualify for the K-league playoffs so am not in a panic just yet!!

Results End of Season

So we did improve second half of the season and managed to finish top but remember that we still havnt won the K-league but we automatically go into the final as the remaining teams fight it out to meet us their.

Just a note on the class of Olawale my amazing Nigerian centre forward as he scored ten times in the last four games.

The K-League Playoff Final

So we managed to win the K-league once more with a comforatble win in the end over Ulsan who did the league double over us so it was a bit of revenge!

The away leg ended two one as we fought back from a goal down but at home Olawale was the main man scoring twice and setting up Carlos to seal a 5-1 overall victory, so more champions league football this season!!

Final Player Ratings

So no prizes to find that Olawale was on top scoring 49 times in 51 games my main problem will be keeping him as teams such as Ajax are interested in him! Shin Hyun Suk was fantastic from my right hand side scoring 15 times and Kim Won Sik was really good at the heart of my defence.

But all in all was pretty pleased with all my players!

Cup Competitions

The Pan Pacific Championship

The Final

So I belive that this competition is for the winners of the American league, Japenese and Chinese leagues we met the winners of Japan in the semi final winning by five goals to two and the amazing Olawale scoring four times. He struck twice more in the final an Aldair added a third to seal the win and the trophy!

Korean League Cup

The Final

Another trophy for my collection as we regained our league cup title, the run to the final was pretty straight forward but the final itself was a let down. Both sides never really got going and in the end a set piece header won the game in a match that lacked any quality.

The Asian Champions League

This game amazes me at times! Having been given no real chance we sailed through our group that consisted of a big Australian team and a massive Chinese team! We met Daejon in the next round they also play in South Korea and we easily beat them to get to the semi finals.

After a home game against Saipa in which we won by two goals we could have had five or six quite easily so was fairly confident of progressing to the final.

In the second leg they had four chances in the whole game scored three times and had no clear cut chances, we had 22 shots 16 on target and 5 clear cut chances yet lost three zero and so were knocked out! Just as a note they scored twice from 30 yards and the second player had 6 for long shots!!

I think the game is conspiring against me, but we just had no luck!

Korean FA Cup

The Final

A very comfortable cup final win was we hit six times but this time Olawale took second place and his strike partner Carlos hit an amazing hat-trick. My wide man Shin Hyun scored two brilliant freekicks but the final was all about Carlos, Olawale did score as we easily won the FA cup.

And that is that! Again sorry for such a long post its just the easiest way of doing it so feel free to take a break halfway through! Also I bought a new computer monitor (well my boyfriend did) on Saturday and its a big wide screen one! So am not sure how my pictures look and if they need resized etc. So if they do like a bit wierd just let me know and I will fix them!

I have decided to stay at Seoul until I win the Asian champions league which I feel is very winnable, this time were just very unlucky and if I can keep Olawale we have a very good chance. Most of the teams are weaker than we are the strongest teams seem to be from Japan which is surprising and people have often said to me that the Australian teams are the best but so far we havent lost to any of them. Infact I find them fairly easy to beat so am hoping for a good run in my next season.

As always I will post my new season as soon as I can but expect a post on my Coruxo story next as I let to digest this very long post!

Until then bye bye!! :)

Omg, how annoying!! I hate when FM does that, you clearly dominated in the ACL semi final but yet you still lost. I don’t understand why it happen’s, I think it’s a joke tbh. I’m sure you’ll win it next year though, especially if you keep Olawale. He’s amazing! You’d another great season, and the Champions League will be won next year. Good luck!

      Thanks Sears,

You and me both! Its so frustrating but I guess that sometimes its happens in real life so I just have to accept it!

Olawale handed in a transfer request and is out of contract this year, he wont sign a new deal so my hopes are pretty low on keeping him! With him though we have a great chance at the Asian CL!!

Wow, talk about a CV.. Ana yours is right up there with the best of them and it keeps getting bigger and bigger!
Made some decent signings and from your own experience, they are the best in the league at the moment. Solid at the back and free scoring up top, there isnt much more you can want ;).
Unlucky with the ACL. Just that one off game trips you up, it’s really annoying and now means you have to do it all again.
Sounds like your struggling with the Home Grown or Nationalistic rules like in mine. Like you said, really annoying but with some persistence you will have this part of the challenge wrapped up in no time.

Best of luck with this challenge, hope you can take the ACL by storm next year and move on to challenge for another. :)

      Thanks!

Yeah, its really nice to mange somewhere else for a change! The rules are more annoying in Sweden I think! But its not too bad in Korea sometimes I forget though and just buy soemone, I have been managing in Spain for too long!

Am pretty confident of winning the Asian CL we are as good as most teams in it if not better, fingers crossed!

      :)

Too bad about that Champions League semi final, it seems that you really deserved to win it. I’m sure that you’ll get your hands on it next season, that is bound to happen! Good luck and don’t worry about the screen shots, they look just fine.

Great season Ana, and it seems that only bad luck stopped it from being even better. You’ve dominated every competition aside from the Champions League, and it’s only a matter of time before you win it, especially if you can keep Olwale. I reckon you can do it next season, good luck!

      Thanks Laxeyman,

Olawale is amazing! But I wont keep him, the standard isnt too high in Korea and I already had a very good squad to build on.

      Hopefully this is our year!

Olawale is incredible, what a strike rate!! Well you dominated yet again, but also stuck by your form in the bigger competitions. Played extremely well, should have won, but the game but you in the arse. I’m sorry to see that Ana, hopefully you’ll come back with a stronger team and win it next season.

      Thanks Darren,

Agreed! He is simply too good hence the level of club interested in him, I will lose him am almost sure of that but am hoping I can get the Asian CL before that happens!

    Ola Ana.
You keep on turning out great results regardless where you go in the world. Very unfortunate in the Champions League so hopefully your domination in the domestic cups made up fro that a little in particular that 6-0 hammering of Suwon. Good luck for next season and i’m sure you will retain that league title :)

      Thanks Kevin,

I was fortunate to get a club like Seoul who already had a very good squad, just needed a few quality additions!

      Thanks for the luck! :)

I won’t worry too much Ana, sometimes your players just have an off day or the opposition keeper suddenly decides to keep everything out, your team has the ability to win the ACL, good luck for next season

      Very true!

Just annoying as I felt we could have won the CL and to lose with the goals they scored was a bit annoying!

    Hi Ana,

Brilliant that you managed to win 4 trophies but I cannot believe you didn’t win the CL, it looked to be yours after the first leg but FM does that sometimes, unfortunately you were the victim this time. Next season it should be yours and I wish you the best of luck :)
