Ana — FM 2011: Cheonan, Round The World Challenge!

Hi everyone!

So the snow is causing havac in my area so I cant get to work, so I am stuck at home on my own so I thought I would give this challenge a go I saw over at Sortitoutsi.

The premise is to win all the champions leagues in every region (South America, North America, Africa, Europe and Asia) In one game/save. The rules state you have to begin unemployed and start with a sunday league reputation.

If you fancy joining in just start up a new topic and post at the forum https://www.footballmanagerstory.com/forum/, remember this is a rather big challenge in leagues I have never been in so will be fun and also a steep learning curve!

More details here : http://sortitoutsi.net/forum/topic/47746-the-pentagon-challenge-thread/

————————————————————————————————-

So loaded leagues from places I have never played in, also none of the big leagues (England, Germany, France, Italy or Spain) as I want to have a game away from the usual places!

After a few months and applying to every job I could I found one I liked, in South Korea! My new team is Cheonan who play in the N league.

A brief history of my new club so have a lot of work on my hands, I dont think I will be able to win the Asian champions league with this side but this will hopefully be a good stepping stone to a better job, fingers crossed!

They were already 14 games into the season when I joined and were into their sort of break period so the transfer window was open. They only play 28 games and as you can see their is no outstanding side. Top four qualify for the playoffs and only one side can win promotion to the K league.

My contract, as you can see we have a decent transfer budget and a very decent wage structure, finacially the team is very good so a good base to start my career.

Transfers in and out were very difficult, as I dont know any players! I got a scout who wasnt great but at least found me some players that I could judge. I also got an assistant manager after a while so he should also help me a little.

I opted to ‘improve’ the squad by buying a few players! I am not sure if they are better per say but thats half the fun of managing a club you have never heard off!

Lee Sang-Tae

My first buy was this this fullback on a free transfer! Considering we didnt have a left back at the club he has to be an improvement!

Joao Paulo

So Brazilians seems to make up a big part of the better teams in the K league (one above us) so I bought this defender on a free. Rules state I can have 3 foreign player (foreign = none South Korean) and two in my first eleven. He will be my only none Korean signing as I cant find anyone else!

Kim Hong-Ki

Its really hard to find any under 30 players who arnt rubbish! So bought this striker who has some good times in the past! A fairly ok striker despite having no pace, hopefully he can score some goals!

Hwang Yun-Suk

Well he is experienced! And tall! Very tall, at 6’4” he towers over most of our team which is one of the smallest in the league, looking around height seems to be a massive advantage so I bought this striker to kick the ball at, England style! ;)

Thats it for this first post, hopefully some people will join in and try this really hard challenge but it should be fun and different from any game you have played! I will update frequently when I feel their is something to say, you can also check out other people’s stories over their (Sortitoutsi).

I am not affiliated with that site! Just trying to give credit to the site where I found the challenge so they dont get mad at me!

I will run this story alongside my other story (Coruxo one) and am looking forward to see if I can complete this challenge.

Thanks for reading,

Ana. xx

    Hi Ana

Welcome to allthisisfootballmanager and I am pleased that you have joined us. It’s a very interesting story and one that I may look at doing myself at some point in the future. I hope that you can bring your first Champions League to Cheonan soon.

    Good luck

Wow! that is one hell of a challenge Ana. I’ve never really managed anyone other than an English Premier League team…I might join you and start this challenge.

Yeah, I am usually always managing in Spain so its really nice to manage somewhere else!

Its pretty hard to find players, but alot more rewarding when you find someone who is pretty good! If you decide to join remember to post your story at the forums as I would love to see how you get on.

Some advice though make sure you start with a Sunday league reputation and double check as the game likes to reset it to automatic!

    Hey Ana,
might try this challenge in a few days. I cant continue my Athletic file and I’m taking a break from FM for a while. Hopefully you can do a good job with Cheonan and get to manage a better team sooner or later. Good luck!

      Hi Sears,

Thanks, its a pretty decent club to get started in but their is no way I can win the Asian champions league with them it would honestly take forever!

Hopefully its a stepping stone to a better job, but am still learning the league, rules etc But am really enjoying it.

Thanks for the luck I definatly need it! :)

    Hey Ana,
decided to try this challenge and a team called Volgar accepted my managers application :-D They play their footballing trade in the second division in Russia. Obviously I’m not going to win the Champions League with team but hopefully I can do a decent job to increase my reputation. It’s a hard challenge!

ps just noticed that my past experience switched back to ‘automatic’. How do I change it back to ‘Sunday league’ again or is it to late? Will I have to start over again?

    • Ana Garcia

      8 декабря, 2010 at 15:35

Yeah you will have to start again, I should have posted a warning about that.

The challenge states you have to start with sunday league rep, if you have automatic then you will easily get high profile jobs instead of working to get them, in my first game I tried the game switched me to automatic and I had to start again, just double check before you start that its says sunday league rep.

Just a problem with the game I think.

      Yay!

In all honesty its a pretty good club to start off at! You can even scout the players I bought to help improve your team!

      Good luck! :)

    Ana,
did u notice that u cant get promoted to the K-League?

    • Ana Garcia

      8 декабря, 2010 at 20:46

      Hi Sears,

Yeah in the first season you cant get promoted to the K league due to a rule change in real life I believe, but its wasnt implenmented into FM 11 in time but after season 1 you can win promotion.

Hope that make sense LoL, after your first season you are free to win promotion! :)

      Ha!

Good to hear! I will be looking for your story at the forums!

I have heard that Africa is one of the hardest places to begin, so good luck with it! :)

I reached the play off final with Cheonan, but lost on penalties!! Doesn’t matter anyway cuz they never got promoted :-D I’m using a 4-1-2-1-2 tactic, my team thrived on it.
