Ana – FM 2011: South China, Season Five

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great christmas and are looking forward to the new year and what it may bring! I will bring you the fifth season in my journey to win all five champions leagues in all continents as I aim for my first in Asia.

First up my career history :

— Cheonan (July 2010 — January 2013)

— South China (June 2013 — present)

Honours

Hong Kong League Title : 2014 (South China)

Senior Shield : 2013 (South China)

League Cup : 2014 (South China)

Asian Conferderation Cup : 2014 (South China)

——————

So without further ado here is how my fifth season on the game went and my second in charge of the Hong Kong based South China.

Transfers In And Out

I made a few new signings including two players who are both from Hong Kong, and one who isnt! I also smashed the transfer record by paying £350k for a player and I know I payed to much but who cares! We have the money! So lets have a look at the new players.

Lam Ka Wai

So he is a wide man and such a bonus with him being a man born in Hong Kong meaning he can slot straight into my team and I dont have to worry about any foreign status. Pretty good for a free transfer and also has a bit of experience.

Qiao Wei

So I know he doesnt look like a £350k pound defender but he is easily one of the best defenders in the league. He has spent 4 season in Hong Kong and has already got citizenship so I will have no problems with work permits or foreign status and again he will slot straight into my side.

Alejandro Valle

So a foreign player! But I couldnt resist when I saw him and he is easily the best player in Hong Kong! I payed a tiny £35k for him and although he is from Chile I will work a way to get him to play as much as I can.

League And Results Half-way Point

Too easy? I guess so! my team now are defending well but also scoring for fun, I am going to win the league and again they might aswell give the trophy to us now as we have no real chance of throwing it away.

Nothing to say, were are just miles away from the chasing teams.

My First National Job!

The new manager of Morocco! I figured that it may boost my reputation in Africa if I can do well and also I just fancied a change from the lack of a challenge in Hong Kong. My team isnt too bad my best player is Maroune Chamakh and he is also very good looking! So he is my captain (for football reasons! :))

The Second Transfer Window

Hung Fengtao

So made only one signing as I bought this player from China. He has spent a season and a half in Hong Kong so only needs another year to gain citizenship! He will help for next year as I try again for the Asian champions league but a very good striker.

The Final League And Results

Sorry, but nothing to say! We were unbeaten all season an had a goal difference of 44 in 18 games. I am sure I could pick most of you reading this story and still easily win the league! South China is not a great place for a challenge but at least I winning things and boosting my reputation.

The top two names are my top two strikers who are just impossible to stop! Like I said most of you reading could play and probably average a high 7, its just that easy here at South China and to prove that have a look at this :

The league’s team of the year and 10! Of my players are in it…..

Cup Competition

The Senior Sheild

Yes! A defeat! To be fair we hit the woodwork five times so we failed to defend our trophy.

The Asian Champions League

I learned a very valuable lesson from this! Always learn the rules of qualification before you start! I assumed (wrongly) that these games would be over two legs so after I got the away goal at 1-1 I defended and felt I could beat them at home. To my horror it was a single leg so we failed to qualify for the next stage.

The dream of the champions league trophy was over before it had even began!

The League Cup

The Final

I guess this shows how easy managing South China is, despite having 10 men for a huge amount of the game we ran out comfortable 3-0 winers. At least we defended our league cup trophy!

The FA Cup

The Final

Pegasus must hate us after we beat them again in the final by three goals to zero. Not much to say as Fengtao scored twice with Valle adding our third and yet another trophy.

So thats it! Am sorry its not more of a challenge, no struggles, no close games! But I really cant help the strong position I am in here at South China. However now I understand the rules of the qualification of the Asian champions league I will stay on and try to get to the group stage.

Nothing really much to add, but thanks for reading and I will post up my new season as soon as I can!

Thats so unlucky Ana, how unfortionate to lose like that in the Champions League. Like you said next season you’ll know. You’re dominating every competition almost so I think next season will see you maybe even win the Champions League. Goodluck and I can’t wait to see your next season results.

      Thanks Darren,

Yeah I automatically assumed it would be over two legs, not fair as I had to play away and they got a home game. Domestically its so easy but hopefully we can have a good go at the champions league!

Hey Ana, nice to have a Hong Kong update. I’ve just beaten South China 4-2 with Hong-Kong Rangers. Hit the woodwork twice as well. They’re tough, but they’re not invincible.

South China came third in the league last year. Guess who won it. ;)

      Hi Will!

Yeah i can get through the season very quick due to only having 18 league games! Agreed the manager before me finished third and cost him his job but like you said any team is beatable!

Congrats! Are you doing the pentagon challenge? Great achievement to win the league with them!

Yeah, with limited success so far. A word of warning: Never go to Mexico. Ever.

I know what you mean, it seems winning just one champions league may be hard enough!

I guess we should just keep at it! I havent even thought about South America yet going to toil in Asia for a bit it seems….

    Hi Ana,
your South China team have easily dominated the Hong Kong league and domestic cups. However, do you think you can win the Asian Champions League with them? Tbh, I don’t. Your a great manager but realistically from what I’ve seen from other people’s pentagon stories the South Korean and Australia teams are immense compared to the clubs from countries like India, Malaysia and Hong Kong. What’s your reputation level now? Anyway, well done on a terrific season Ana.

      Hi Sears,

In all honesty I dont know. I did play some pre-season games against Seoul and some Australian team that I cant remember the name of! I won both games granted it was only pre-season but I beat Seoul 3-1 (away) and the Australian team 4-1 (away).

I guess it will probably be different in the actual group stage but I dont really know how we will fair. My reputation is up to Continental. :)

I guess the entire population of football fans in Hong Kong wants you out by now (except the South China fans)! The Morocco job should be quite challenging, they have a few good players but the African competitions are quite tough.

      Hi Johnny,

      Yeah! :)

Its not to hard to win everything but my aim is the champions league, I agree I had a look and the squad at Morocco isnt as strong as I was hoping so my aim is to just qualify for the African cup of nations!

Hi Ana, it’s all very easy for you, what a season you had, but a shame about the Champions League. Now that you know the rather confusing rules I’m sure you’ll do well in it next season. Good luck!

    • Ana Garcia

      28 декабря, 2010 at 22:23

      Hi Laxeyman!

Thanks, yeah its just alot different from the rules in Europe. I must remember to always read the rules, so I dont get caught out again!

    Hey Ana

That was so unlucky in the champions league not having to legs to play out. Good luck for your next season and Morroco look like a good challenge with Marouane Chamakh.

    • Ana Garcia

      28 декабря, 2010 at 22:25

      Thanks Birdy!

Agreed, I was thinking to myself that we had a good result! Bit unfair to also play away and have no home game but I really should have read the rules!

Yeah Morocco is a nice challenge and a break from the ease of the Hong Kong league!

    Hi Ana
Excellent job in winning the title with such ease. Good luck with Morocco but I guess you will have to move on from South China sooner or later to a bigger Asian team for this challenge?

    • Ana Garcia

      29 декабря, 2010 at 13:36

      Hi Kevin!

I think I will have too move but I am not sure how my team will fair in the champions league yet!

I would like a big job in Korea as that could be my best chance but I dont think my reputation is high enough to get one yet!

      Hi Pickard!

      Thank you! :)

Yeah I guess I should never assume anything!

I know exactly what you mean by dont assume lol

Inspired by this story i have started my own with maritzburg united in the south african premier league and i had high hopes after a 7th place finish in the first season (predicted 14th). 2nd season…currently in 12th and only seem to be able to get results again top of the league teams haha…. my contract with them runs out at the end of the season and i’m not sure whether to renew it.

South Africa is a tough place to start but you may struggle to get another job if you leave!

It always takes time to build a side, usually from top to bottom so every job you have to be thinking long term and it takes a few years to be able to that.

But keep at it! Am sure your luck will change and good luck with your journery!
