Warren — FM 2011 Hartlepool United October 2010/11

Hi everyone and again welcome back to another edition in the Hartlepool story. After a good first two months to the season I was hoping to build on this can again move up that table to the chance of fighting it out with the big boys at the top of the table. I would have a total of five league games in October and I was thinking big and getting a lot of points this month.

V Exeter 2nd Oct 2010

The first game this month was against Exeter struggling at the foot of the table so I was demanding three points from my players as I felt that we were the superior team. I am not being cocky but I just felt that we should get three points from this game.

And that’s exactly what happened and like I thought we would we totally dominated the match with a superior number of shots than the opposition. Goals from Chamberlain and Brown ensured the three points.

V Walsall (a) 9th Oct 2010

Next up was Walsall at the Bescot Stadium. Walsall were near the bottom of the table when we faced them so the bookies had me the favourite to win this match even though I was the visiting side.

The bookies were wrong and we were beaten in the end in what was a pretty even match. We had the same amount of chances as Walsall but most of our shot seemed to be outside the area. Goals from Gray and Taundry denied us the three points.

V Dag + Red (h) 16th Oct 2010

I was now faced to play Dagenham and Redbridge who like the teams I have played so far this month Dagenham were close to the bottom of the table. It was a game that I was looking for yet another three points.

It was closer than I thought and we just managed to scrape a victory in the 89th minute when Ryan Donaldson who was making his first appearance after coming back from injury and I was delighted that he was able to come off the bench and grab the winner.

V Carlisle (a) 23rd Oct 2010

The next game I was set to play is the north-east derby between Carlisle and Hartlepool. I don’t think that many fans would really class this match as a derby but it that closest team that I have to play in the league.

It turned out to be a really good result and in a match were I really think that Hartlepool have got used to the way I like to play as this seemed to be a one of my best performance that I felt we have played all season.

V Oldham (h) 30th Oct 2010

In the final match of October I was playing Oldham from the Manchester area. I was hoping for another three points to keep this good form going.

It was an emphatic win to finish off the month with all goals going from the Newcastle strike partnership of Vuckic and Donaldson with Vuckic getting the match ball with a superb hat-trick. It was a brilliant way to finish the month.

October Results

Yet another good month with 12 points picked up from a possible 15 it was again such a shame that one result seemed to damped the month. I can take positives with the fact that I was supposed to be in contention with the relegation spots.

Table

Again I had moved up the table this time into 4th position and I was looking good for a play-off spot and possibly even a promotion places after closing the gap of the top spots to just three points.

Thanks for reading

Warren

      Hi Arjuna

A promotion spot at the end of the season would be amazing but I think that we will get into the play-off places. The win against Oldham like I have said was great as it the best I have ever seen my Hartlepool team play.

Great results there Warren. I reckon with Vuckic, Chamberlain and especially Donaldson you’ll be looking at top two soon. The team seem to be winning for fun banning in some goals aswell. Can’t wait to see you top next month :)

      Hey Darren

Thanks for the comment. The team is winning and winning well which is really pleasing and Donaldson and Vuckic are playing like a dream together. Chamberlain on the other hand has been a good short term signing but thats all he was as a back up for Donaldson being injured and is only on loan for three months.

Indeed a nice month, Warren! You must really have found a very solid tactic with an incredible placement of your defenders… just 2 goals scored against your team in 5 matches is almost as nice as the wins themselves! (I also saw that you are the team with the least goals against in the league, so I can’t wait for you to share your tactic with us, especially since I never managed to create a tactic where the team doesn’t concede :D)

      Hi Calin

It is really good that my team is able to not concede as many goals as others and I will share my tactic with you but I have felt that this would make my post really long but now that a few people have asked for this then I will put it into my next post which should be ready in the next 2-3 days.

      Hi Lye

Again like I have said previously I am very pleased with the results and the way I have played recently and I am sure that we can grap a play-off spot as a minimum target this season.

Hi Warren, a really good month capped off by the fantastic win in the last match. Promotion looks like a really probability if you can keep playing like that. Good luck!

Very good month Warren, your certainly a contender for a promotion spot now. The 5-0 win over Oldham must have been extremely satisfying. Good luck.

Well done, the team has proved that the defeat at Walsall was just a mishap. I predict that you’ll be top of the table by the end of December :)

      Hi Kevin

It was really nice to have such a good performance as a way to wrap up the month as the previous months I have ended the month dropping points so I wasn’t best pleased.
