Warren — FM 2011 Hartlepool United Aug-Nov Part 1 2013/14

Hi everyone and welcome back to the north of England and to Hartlepool United and who were about to play their first ever Premier League season. After a very active pre-season where no less than 12 players arrived we were now ready for an uphill challenge to fight for survival in England’s top division.

August Results

A very quiet month to start off our season with 1 win from 3 games but unfortunately the win was in the league cup so I am yet to gain my first point or even my first goal. A difficult few weeks saw me against Everton who finished just outside the European spots last year and were looking to make up for it this season and face the runners up from last season Manchester City. Two very good performances against these two sides put me in a positive mood even though we had lost both games.

September Results

In September there was only going to be a number of 4 matches played with a trip to Blackburn and three home games on the cards I felt that I would get my first goal and points in this month. Indeed that was the case when we secured our first ever Prem goal and win thanks to Lee Foyle against Wolves. A bump back to earth with a 2-0 loss against Blackburn before progressing into the 4th round of the league cup with a 2-1 win over Swansea with Stoyanov scoring against his former employees. The month ended in a sour affair with a poor performance and a thrashing off Stoke City after we had taken the lead with Foyle getting on the end of a Stoyanov cross.

October Results

October came with a similar structure to the fixture list in September but it was the other way round with Hartlepool on the road three times this month with one home game against reigning champions Chelsea. The month started off really well with a 3-1 win over strugglers Nottm Forest. A thumping from Chelsea didn’t show the whole story as we played well it was just the gulf in class that won the game in the end. Another good performance but another defeat followed in a 3-2 thriller with Liverpool. We finished off the month being dumped out of the League Cup at the hands of a fellow promotion team of Wolves.

November Results

With 5 games in total in November it was going to be a busy month and I was hoping for no injuries as my squad his quite bare. A decent draw against Birmingham City started off the month in a good fashion. That was followed with a 1-0 win over neighbours Sunderland and a Michael Turner own goal. The win but us up 14th but we were back down the table after two consecutive losses against Spurs and Man Utd. The month finished with an excellent 4-1 win over fellow strugglers West Brom this was a vital win and its teams like West Brom I need to pick points up against.

Performance of Part 1

V West Brom

The best performance was saved till last and 4 goals were scored, one of many records that I will achieve this season. Two goals from Henaini, Hines and Foyle completed the scoring.

Table

If I am going to be honest I am very pleased with the way we have started this premier league campaign with 4 wins under my belt before we had got to December. I wasn’t getting too over excited as there was only 2 points between us and the relegation spots but alternatively we were only 6 points from a top half finish.

Thanks for reading

Warren

You mixed the September/November images up, mate.

Nice update, keep hanging in there, you’ll make top o’ the table in no time!

    Thanks Will

The mistake has been changed and with a few good results I should hopefully be in with a shout of mid-table finish but thats if I get a few good results. The aim this season was to stay in this league and thats what I am doing so far

      Hi Wazz

I guess your right if I win the odd game against a team that I should beat then I cant really have any complains. I hope so

Hi Warren, your objectives were to stay in the league and so far you are doing that, so well done. I reckon you can avoid relegation as your team will start to settle in the next couple of months. December and January will be crucial, if you can come through them still out of the relegation zone then you’ll stay up. Good luck!

      Hey Laxeyman

I have to agree that objective was to stay in the league and avoid the bottom three places. I am currently doing that and I hope that now that my squad has a feeling for the premier league they will hopefully be hungry for more and want to stay here for as long as possible.

      Hey Kevin

It was quite a difficult start to the season but now that I have got a few wins my players will be hungry for more and I can have an enjoyable season.

Was always going to be a big ask but its not the worse start you could have made.

You have won a couple of games but away games have been a struggle for you but am hoping that you can turn that around and start picking a few points up to help your home results.

Best of luck of survival, I have my fingers crossed for you! :)

      Hi Ana

Thanks for the support and I hope that I can stay in this league and start buliding for the future. If I can just beat the teams that are in and around my position than I guess it doesn’t really bother me if the points come from home or away.

Hey Warren, the first Premiership season is always going to be tough. However, you’ve got some difficult games out of the way and Hartlepool are still above the drop zone so not bad all things considered. Keep it up mate and I’m looking forward to the next update.

ps I sent you an email explaining how to sort the YouTube embed problem, very easy if you know how. :)

      Hi Darren

I have found that out and I hope that I can stay in this league. The fact that I have already played teams like Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd shown that I will have a period where I will play teams that are stuggling in the league and thats where I will pick up most of my points.

ps I got the email and I understand what to do the next time I post. Already writing it as I want to continue the story as quickly as possible

    Hey Warren
Some nice results there to start your career in the Premier League. I reckon you can easily avoid relegation if you keep it up good luck mate

      Hi Birdy

I think the more experience I get I will hopefully start to move away from the relegation spots. Cannot wait to write up the next part of the story.

    Hi Warren,

A difficult start but at least you are lying in mid table. I have no doubt you can preserve your Premiership status when the season ends. Good luck.

      Hi Lye

I guess it was a very difficult start but like I have said as long as I beat teams that I should beat then I will have no worries and if I can stay in the league then I can say that the season was a success

Not too bad for a start but I’m sure that your team can do better in the coming months. Best of luck and sorry for not spotting your update sooner, I don’t know how I missed it :)

Dont worry you dont need to apoligise for that as they are times when i haven’t commented on your story. As long as I stay in the league this season I will be happy and I know that people will be expecting more but i am just being realistic.
