Warren — FM 2011 Hartlepool, pre-season 10/11

Hi all and welcome to my new blog on the allthatisfootballmanager website. Before I start I would like to thank Darren for letting me have the opportunity of writing on this website and it’s an honour and a privilege. Some of you may recognise me as one of the contributors on the FMGuru site and I really enjoyed posting for Jason but there was a break up in communication and I stopped posting. For people who don’t know me I am called Sam Warren and like Darren I am a avid supporter of Newcastle United and I am delighted to have a person who I can have a debate with the current going ons with the club.

I started playing FM in 2007 and have bought ever version since I just feel that it’s a one of the best feelings that you can have when you have achieved something brilliant and I look for that every time I play football manager. Sorry but I have blabbed on a bit so I will now go move onto my story I have decided to be manager of Hartlepool United as I was going to be manager of Newcastle but I let Darren be the manager of them so I thought I would be a local team to Newcastle so Sunderland was defiantly out of the question so I decided that Hartlepool would be the best option.

Hartlepool is a side in the Npower League 1 division and have been there for 5 years and have been stuck in the same mid/lower part of the table for these years I felt that it was time to move them into the big time. When I took over them I noticed a lack of funds and that the club had £10million loan debt which will add on extra dimension to the story.

My expectations for the season were to avoid relegation. I would have tried to give myself more of a challenge by setting a higher expectation but the transfer and wage budget never really changed that much so I felt that it was a bit unnecessary.

Transfer Out

I decided to let go of four players that I felt were not needed by the club and players that never going to make an appearance and clog up the wage bill. They also all went out on free transfers as there were no offers in for them so I decided to cancel their contracts.

Transfers In

Due to the limited amount of money that I had to spend on players I had to bring in the majority of my transfers through loan signings and free transfers. All in all I made a total of 6 signings in the summer transfer window.

Ryan Donaldson

I was going to go through all of the signings that I made but that would have meant that the post would have been really long so in the end I have just decided to talk about who I feel was the best signing of the lot. Donaldson is one that is just coming through the ranks at Newcastle and is a player that could play either central midfielder or up front position. I have decided to play him upfront as he possess good striker attributes compared to my other forward currently at Hartlepool. On a 6 months loan deal.

Pre-season matches

I was satisfied with this pre-season as we played a few good team the Nottm Forest game was a game that we didn’t deserve to lose and I was really looking forward to what the new season had in store for us.

Thanks for reading but sorry for the length of post

Warren

P.S. I have got a youtube acount that will just be for my fm stories. It has currently got one video on at the moment so that I could test if it would work. Hopefully I will get to show you in detail my goals that I score on football manager. The link is below

    Hi Warren,
welcome to the team :-) Like Lye, I also followed your story at Jason’s site, really liked it too. I’m sure you can lead Hartlepool to the Premier League. Btw, what tactic are you using?

Hey Warren, welcome to the team mate!!! Loving the fact that we can compare thoughts on the best team of the north lol! The story has started well and I reckon you may even be able to challenge for the play-offs with some of those signings…just depends on luck and how quickly you adapt to the new game. Goodluck mate and its great to have you onboard!

ps sorry for taking Newcastle, unfortionately for you it was what the public voted for :)
