Next up, another home game, this time Swansea were coming at Meadow Lane. They finished somewhere in the middle of the table last season and I certainly wanted a win out of that game. We produced a poor performance though, I still can’t understand the reasons. The 1-1 draw was the just result, Swansea deserved to walk away with one point.
I was slightly disappointed with that performance and I was sure that we had to do a lot better in the next game, we were playing away at Sheffield Wednesday, one of the main promotion contenders as they were relegated from the Premier League. My player’s didn’t let me down this time, they produced a solid performance and I was pleased to see them play with determination and creativity. The only goal of the game was scored after a nice team move, 17 year old Sam Hinshelwood found himself clean through and he passed the ball into the back of the net!
The next game was away at fellow Championship side Reading in the second round of the Carling Cup. I guess after seeing the result there wouldn’t be much to say about the game. There is something though, two players made the difference. First there was Sabrin Sburlea, he was unstoppable and he could have scored even more than four goals that day, he was on fire! The second essential contribution was brought by the goalkeeper, Ben Amos, he made a few crucial saves in the second half, Reading hoped to get back into the game but he kept the door shut with great courage and talent. He earned the place in the first team with a few good performances and he is keeping Kasper Schmeichel on the bench!
We will face Championship side Derby County in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup but there are quite a few more games to play until then. The last game of August was another difficult one, at home with promotion contenders Bolton. It was a very tough game indeed and Bolton made the most out of their experience, they scored through a free kick header and then pulled back in defense and looked to strike on counter attacks. We fought well though and Romanian striker Denis Alibec finally scored his first goal for the club after a great run from midfield. He was disappointing until that game and I was already thinking about packing his bags and sending him back to Jose Mourinho at Internazionale Milano. The goal gave us a good result and gave him the chance to stay at Meadow Lane and prove his skills. We could even have won the game but we missed too many chances, one too many…
The league table at the end of August was looking quite alright for us, we were in 2nd place, still unbeaten.
We’ll have fun in September too with quite a few tough games, at home with Middlesbrough and with Derby in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup.
That’s how it was, I’m looking forward to reading your views about our debut in Coca-Cola Championship.

@Sonny, hARRO and Calum
Thanks folks, I didn’t expect such a good start. Now that it’s over I can say it could have been slightly better :)
@Radu
Well, I wasn’t expecting an unbeaten month :) Wobay will probably get sold in real life too, he’s very talented but his attitude isn’t always the best. About Barboianu, it’s a shame that his versatility in real life isn’t reflected very well in his FM 2010 profile, he’s a very good youngster.

Johnny, nice start your debut in the Championship. Already looking like title contenders and an excellent result in the Carling Cup too.
I left a note in your forum so as not to get off topic here. I don’t want to distract from your «career» so when you have time if you could take a look. Many thanks

Thanks mate, I’m doing my best to write good stuff :)
@Kevin
Next Monday won’t be a holiday here I’m afraid, only the 25th of December.
@Martin
I’m very pleased with Sburlea indeed, he had a great start. It will be pretty tough to get promoted, that’s what I felt after the first 5 games…

I’m very happy that you found my attitude inspiring, you’ll see that sticking to one team has its very nice rewards. That is if you won’t get sacked at some point :P
Kevin
22 декабря, 2009 at 19:21
Well I’m currently in 4th place with Swindon after 12 games though playing like Man City and drawing a lot.
Better get back to my real life work before I actually do get the sack!

Well what is wrong with it?
I mean all I did was change blogs it is not like I changed the world I found it easier to change blogs for new settings is there really such a problem with that?
Sorry if this is to aggresive but I feel your choice to just reject mine is not very satisfactory towards my options.

Eddie, calm down mate. I just couldn’t understand why you changed the blog address and I still can’t. You can change settings with keeping the old address, can’t you? I was just trying to be helpful since I guess I have some blogging experience but it’s your choice. I don’t have to agree with it though.
P.S.: I will update your link to point to the new address.

Sorry there I did not mean to be so aggresive but some things just annoy me.
You are right you can change the settings but it was so much easier just to make a new one as I did not know the settings where evrything was so it was easier and quicker to make a new blog.
Sorry for being so aggresive but I get annoyed easily it is not your fault I was just very annoyed look foward to your next post.
