SV Wehen: The Season Begins

Greetings from a hot and sunny Toronto and welcome back to my SV Wehen story. This report will be a little briefer than normal but the next one will be back to the usual «match highlights’ style.

The season kicked off in July with two games and by the time we had reached the end of August eight had been played altogether including a German Cup tie. Our opening two games were absolutely abysmal and  my 4-2-3-1 formation that looked so promising in pre-season was torn apart by the opposition.

The first match against Sandhausen we were lucky to escape with a draw but the following game versus Unterhaching we were ripped to shreds and rarely got in the opponents half. Here are the scores…

I wasn’t happy at all and after careful consideration changed the tactic back to a 4-4-2 for the cup tie against second division Duisburg. It was a much better performance and we won by a single goal from forward Damjanovic.

That victory seemed to spark a fire under the players and we went on to score eleven goals in the next three games with Marcel Ziemer set as a ‘poacher» finding himself on the scoresheet each time. We ended the month with two comfortable 1-0 victories which now propels us into second place behind  Sandhausen.

Results:

Third Division Table

The top two teams get automatically promoted and the third place team goes into a promotion play off against the 16th place team from the second division. There are only 18 teams in Division Two.

As mentioned previously Marcel Zeimer featured strongly this month so here’s his profile for your review and feedback.

On the scouting side of things (remember my rules in the first post) I now have a full complement of staff as allowed by the Board and so as well as Germany  all the «border» countries are covered as well.

Here’s next month fixtures which includes a home cup tie against First Division Hertha BSC

Thanks for reading and I hope you all enjoy The World Cup Final!

@Kevin, after that horrendous start with that 4-0 loss, your team have improved hughly. You changed the tactic and the new 4-4-2 seems to suit your team better. You havn’t conceded much since that second game and if you continue these excellent performances I really think you can get promoted. Well done. Goodluck.

A Fairly Bad Start, But BAM! You Started To Rip Up The League And You Seem To Be Coping Well With The Rules. The New Guy Looks Good Too!

Hi Kevin, after a dreadful start, that was a good reaction from the players. Things are looking good at the moment and hopefully you can have a great season ahead of you.

Despite some early worries, the team have picked themselves up well and could potentially become promoted.

Well done Kevin, that’s a very good start! That striker seems to be a Miroslav Klose «clone», he surely has the ability to score lots of goals. Best of luck for the rest of the season!

Hi Kevin, it seems that the switch back to 4-4-2 has worked wonders after that dreadful start. I think you’ve got a good chance of promotion this season, and good luck against Hertha BSC, that will be a massive game for the club.

    Kevin,

My congratulations on your tactical-change after those 2 bad results. A very good job indeed. I also want to thank you for the tips you gave me in the previous story, it really worked! I started a new game with Luton Town yesterday and made a straight-up 4-4-2 tactic, dynamic and counter-attack. I had some great results, i’m very happy with the prospect of this game. Thank you, once again. Good Luck with the Herta BSC-Clash!

    greets, Andries
