SV Wehen: The Build

Hello Friends and welcome to my latest SV Wehen update.

I asked my assistant manager to provide me with a team report and his main concern was with the AML position and he had a couple of suggestions for a closer review. As I want to have a farily young squad I’ll make offers to Sergio Peter and Braganca.

The first staff meeting didn’t reveal any new transfer targets and pointed out that the team was not much good at anything other than fitness. I was  keen to add to my DMC options so after the meeting my AM provided another report for potential players though these are a bit older than I really wanted but nonetheless will be scouted.

A quick word about my transfer budget which is £0.00

The board expects promotion to the second division so I have immediate pressure to perform!

The job advertisements I placed for Scouting and Coaching staff didn’t provide any quality but that’s hardly surprising as I’m in the Third Division. I did pick out the best of the bunch so now I have a bit more depth in both the First Team and the Under 19’s. I also added two more scouts whom I’ve sent off into Switzerland and the other roaming around Central Europe.

Once the transfer window opened I was unable to sign AML Sergio Peter or Braganca who opted for other clubs though I did acquire Marco Loring and Mourad Hdioudad DMC’s as both were strongly recommended. Interestingly for loan signings it seems that clubs require a 60% to 80% contribution towards a player’s wages so my only loan signing was in the AML position who is Dominick Schwertel from FC Koln. Here are the profiles of the players brought in.

Also I picked up on a free transfer a new right back as well.

In reviewing my squad as a whole with the help of assistant reports there were only a handful players that could possibly be put on the transfer market but I felt there was no urgency to do so and may go back to that at a later stage. The Under 19’s I left alone completely.

Pre Season Results

A solid performance in pre-season and we were unlucky to lose against Hannover. Going into our first game of the season I’ve already got problems with injuries to three of my starting players including my #1 goalkeeper.

Morale for some reason is very poor and with just a few days until our opening game things are not looking good already!

Thanks for reading.

Hi Kevin, i don’t know about the quality of the rest of the squad but those signing looks fantastic for a third division club. I hope you will play your normal game and put the pressure aside to have a great season. Good luck.

@Kevin, I’m not familar with the quality in the german lower leagues but those new signings seem to be good players. You had a good set of pre season fixtures too. In my Ledds game (It’s on my blog which I started again, check links page if you want to see it) morale is low and players are giving out etc but we are still doing good so I’m not sure what way it will affact your team. Goodluck!

Hi Kevin, you seemed to have made some pretty good signings, well done. Hopefully you can get promotion, it seems like you have an ambitious board! About the team morale, it’s usually always low when you start a new game, I think that might be because the players like the old manager, I’m not sure.
    Good luck for the season.

    Hi Lye,
I was quite pleased with those signings too. My squad seems to have pretty good physical attributes so what you see psoted is a good reflection of the team.

@ Sears, thanks for your blog reminder and the comforting words about morale. In my previous saves i’ve always started the season with good morale hence the slight concern.

@ Laxeyman, thnaks for your comments which are always supportive as usual.

Hi Kevin, I’ll echo the others and say it looks like you’ve done a pretty good job. Good luck with the season!

I’m intrigued to see how you get on with your rules. I only usually use the filters to see which players are transfer listed (as I like the lower league clubs). Real managers can obviously see which players are transfer listed so are you incorporating this into your game?

My favourite thing to do is find transfer listed gems, offer them a trial to get a good look at them and either sign them up or move them on.

    Hello Jolicobbler
Thanks for your input. I hadn’t intended to use any filters and just rely on my scouts and «news» itmes that come into my inbox. You do make a good point about transfer lists so maybe I’ll add that in come the Janaury window. Thanks!!

    Hey Kevin,

great signings, good job. I’m curious what kind of tactic you put on the board during your teamtalk with the lads. Would you like to share that info with us? I’m looking forward to the next episode of your story.

    Good Luck, Andries.

    Hello Andries

My tactic is a 4-2-3-1 formation which is fluid and attack minded. If i’m favorites for the game I usually tell the lads they can win this one. Alternatively I wish them luck if they are underdogs. Hope this helps.
