Sears — FM11 Queens Park: All Hail The Mighty Spiders 12/13

Hello everyone and a warm welcome back to my Queens Park story. As you know, we’d a tremendous start and were bravely fighting relegation. We were now entering the wilderness of Winter and I was anticipating some unwelcoming cold weather. In spite of this, I was optimistic that we be victorious in a small majority of our fixtures  and steer ourselves well clear of the relegation zone. In this post, I will present to you our fixtures during December to February, and of course, our transfers. Let’s begin…

Results from Dec-Feb (First Division):

December unfortunately began with two back to back defeats. Firstly, possibly at the time, the team with the most potential to have the worst ever record in the Scottish First Division claimed their first win of the campaign against my bunch of amateurs. Queen Of  Sth then thumped my boys 3-1 at Hampden Park. Miraculously, we reacted fantastically as we overcame the gigantic odds to defeat Dundee away. Remember that were predicated to finish last, and their predicated to finish top, thus you can only imagine the gulf of class between the two teams respectively. Anyhow we won, and in one of the most entertaining fixtures of the season thus far, us and Ross County played out a trilling 3-3 draw. We squandered a 2-0 lead and fell 3-2 behind but our courageous attitude showed as we equalized with minutes remaining. Oh, and Ross County were down to ten men since the 38th minute.  I’m sure the neutrals had an exciting day! We overcame Raith Rovers 3-1 away in our next game, my minor tactical changes were showing some promise. Our Hampden Park faithful witnessed yet another exhilarating 6 goal thriller. Thankfully, it didn’t end in defeat nor a draw. On this occasion, we absolutely destroyed Morton 5-1!!! This superb performance was followed by an even better result in our next game. Table topping Hamilton strolled into town assuring themselves that my group of amateurs wouldn’t get a touch of the ball. A late goal from Lewis Guy sealed yet another memorable victory and one that will go down in the record books. Unfortunately our amazing winning streak couldn’t continue, shamefully we returned to our inconsistent form as Kilmarnock and Dunfermline both inflicted damaging defeats on us. However, Queens Park would have the final laugh. We narrowly beat Queen Of  Sth away 2-1, then enhanced our reputation amongst the First Division further with a  implausible victory over giants Brechin. Go Spiders!

League table:

Amazingly, were currently a mammoth 14 points clear of that dreaded relegation play off spot. Brechin are sure to go down despite their mini revival, and if Ross County fail to turn their fortunes around as well soon there entering a play off to determine if they’ll be relegated.. It’s all so complicated when it could be all so simple and self explanatory. Anyhow, I’m ecstatic with our position as continue to look to augment our reputation amongst the big boys.

For the second consecutive campaign, we have exceeded our boards expectations by reaching the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup. Last year, we missed a penalty against St. Johnstone in the very last second of the game. This year, we face another SPL side in the quarter finals. Hearts will be our opponents. My optimism may come to a shock to most of you, but a defeat looks inevitable. As much as I would like to pull off a major shock, they are a great side and one of the best in the country. Whereas were just a bunch of amateurs. I’m not going to wave the white flag though as I intend to attack Hearts from the very beginning. Our confidence would have grown immensely following that phenomenal win against SPL side St.Mirren in the 5th round. We totally dominated the game and defiantly deserved to prevail 3-0. We also defeated 3rd Division side Stenhousemuir and Dundee following a replay.

Transfers out:

I decided to offload a load of my players in the wake of our terribly inconsistent start to the campaign. Being amateur sure does have it’s advantages! Most of these individuals didn’t possess the quality required to challenge at the top. Most of them were loyal servants to the club and I gratefully wished them all good luck (not!).

Transfers in:

I’m delighted to present you my new galactico’s, apart from Declan McManus. My feeder club Aberdeen sent him on loan to us for the remainder of the season.  Here are all of my new signings:

Player ratings:

Well that’s it folks, thanks for reading and be safe.

Well done Sears, you’re safely in mid table and there’s no way you’re going down now. You could even still win the league, it would be a big ask but with your new signings you have a chance. Good luck!

Cheers bud. Were not going down but a title win isn’t on the cards either.

Hey Sears, you are handling that amateur status like a pro (sorry for the pun.) You certainly aint going down, but I don’t think a top 4 finish is out of the question either. Looking forward to the end of season and an exciting few months :)

Cheers pal, I’ve adapted to our amateur status and although it’s annoying, I find it useful at times. I just want a strong end to the season to enable us of having some belief of success heading into next season. Thanks :-)

    Hi Sears
Great stuff in moving QP up the table especially after such a bad start in losing to Brechin but your mid schedule results were especially good. A very nice cup run you seem to be on as well and some good players brought in too. I like Castellano ans Riisee. Keep up the good work!!

That’s a pretty nice position to be in, midtable is pretty good, hopefully your new signings can consolidate your position and move up the table

At least you seem to be enjoying releasing players for free Sears, as an amateur club do you see your players improving with training at all? They probably don’t spend that much time training

Thanks man. I havn’t seen much improvement tbh. Might see if I can get a better job during the summer, being amateur does suck.
