Premier League 2012 — 2013 Forecast: City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal?

   I think this will be another extremely exciting and fascinating season. Chelsea are the team to watch in terms of where they finish. They will either mount a very serious title challenge or horribly falter. Consistency is something that the team lack. In defense, Luiz is the question mark. Ivanovic, Cole, and Terry are fairly consistent and reliable but Luiz is either amazing or terrible. In defense, the same thing can be said of Meireles. Mata and Oscar can also have a tendency to disappear when things aren’t going too well. Marin is not a player I see as not having too great of an impact. He has his injury troubles and he is easily injured. The last bit is in attack. I don’t understand Chelsea’s reasoning of keeping only 2 strikers at the club, especially when Torres is the king of disappearance acts. Every top club should have at least 3 high level strikers. United have Rooney, Chicharito, and Welbeck. City have Aguero, Tevez and Balotelli. Arsenal have Van Persie, Podoloski, and Girourd. Liverpool have Suarez, Carroll, and Borini. I question the logic behind sending Lukaku away.

     Also, I think Kagawa will be a huge hit. Statistically, he produced more than Hazard, in a harder league and one that is far more similar to the PL.

   Sometimes i just cant look past us (Utd) for the title with our attacking line-up, add to that RVP makes it one of the most potent strike forces in Europe.
   On the other hand Chelsea are going to be hard to stop if they get the right balance. Hazard could shine this year but i personally think he will take a year to get up to speed. Oscar on the other hand looks extremely impressive and i can see him lighting up the league. I doubt Marin will play much, i didn’t see the logic in signing him.
   Man City might be even better this year. Tevez is in the best shape of his life and together with Aguero, that could give Rooney and RVP a run for their money. I have always thought that their weak point is a more defensive midfield, so i dont see them doing that well in Europe. Barry just doesn’t cut it and when De Jong plays city alter their style for some strange reason.
   I think this season will be the closest season ever, last season it was 2, this season i think those 3 will be impossible to separate with Arsenal not far behind.

       If Tottenham can sign another good striker then I can see them giving everyone hell as well. And don’t forget Everton with Naismith, Jelavic, Fellaini, and Pienaar. I don’t think Newcastle will do as well, however.

   If we sign Van Persie, I think that we will win the league. We needed a creative midfielder, and Kagawa is the one that will fill that. We have Rooney, Chicharito, and Welbeck, and if RVP comes, we will have a great strike force. Arsenal seem to be losing their players. RVP, Song seems to be going to Barca, and Walcott hasnt signed a contract extension and has only one year to go. If RVP and Song leaves, I dont think Walcott will sign a new contract.

   Now that Van Persie’s gone, I see Arsenal struggling, Giroud and Podolski didn’t convince at the Euros and I can’t see them adequately replacing RVP. The signing of Van Perise also makes Utd favourites for the league in my opinion, alongside Rooney he could be devastating. I reckon Chelsea will get 3rd, so 4th will be a straight fight between Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and possibly Everton which could go any way. I can’t see Newcastle doing as well as last season.

       Ba was a flash in the pan, he showed that by tailing off dramatically last season, and Cisse’s goals were the sort that if your lucks in then they fly in the top corner, but if it isn’t they end up in row z. Newcastle aren’t bad, on their day they can beat anyone, but I can’t see them finishing 5th partly because Chelsea and Liverpool can’t be as bad as they were last season.

         man, newcastle managed to grab hold of their best players as well as strenghtening the squad, as liverpool had the worst market last season since i can remember. although i’m a AS Roma fan, borini won’t be able to do much if his is assisted by a decaying gerrard and a not trustworthy j.cole. the spurs, on the contraty, made some fantastic acquisitions, but lack depht up front.

   1). Man City — No signings for a reason — they have a brilliant squad. The spine of Hart, Kompany, Yaya Toure, Silva and Aguero is enough to win a title on its own. And the 3-4-1-2 that Mancini used in the Community Shield was tactical genius.
   2). Man Utd — It there’s one thing we’ve learnt in the last few years was don’t rule out United. The signing of Van persie will help MASSIVELY but the fact is their squad isn’t that strong, compared to City. However Fergie’s a genius and they will push City straight to the wire as RVP is an absoloute animal add on Rooney and Shagawa and United will again come so close.
   3). Chelsea — Di Matteo’s experiance racing for a title is non-exsistent but Chelsea should put up an intial strong title charge then crumble away early April. I’m so excited as a Chelsea fan as Marin, Oscar and Hazard but the Blues will fall short as there is still no replacement for Drogba and they underestimate the amount of important goals he scores. I agree with Barghav that there is no sense in loaning out the very talented Lukaku as sometimes Torres is in and out and that could be the downfall in the Premier league persuit.
   4). Spurs — I had Arsenal here but the sale of RVP makes me change my mind. However I remain unconvinced with AVB’s player management (his handling of Modric is poor) however his tactical know-how is second to none and that is why Spurs will get top 4 premisis. If they can get Llorente then they can push Chelsea for 3rd but at the moment only having Defoe is not enough or tottenham. If Modric leaves then Spurs are worryingly lacking a creative midfielder.

   I guess this season is still a fight between both clubs from Manchester. The addition of RVP make Man Utd a devastating strike force and only the Aguero/Tevez partnership can match them. Though i am not a red devil fan but i have a lot of respect for Sir Alex’s management skills and his mind-games could edge Man City for the title. I predicted Chelsea will finish in 3rd place. Being a Arsenal fan, i hope they will at least grab a CL spot this season. Regardless on what happens, it will be another exciting season and i am gearing up for the games this coming weekend.

         Well, I am a bit disappointed as an Arsenal fan but I guess we’ll have to live without van Persie as we did without Henry for instance. We’ll manage ;)

   Looks like another fight between the two Manchester clubs, with Chelsea trailing in the wake, as I’m not convinced their defence is solid enough for the entire eseason. Given I hate United and Chelsea, I have to hope for City to win again.

   The main thing for me though, is I hope that Queens Park Rangers are nowhere near the relegation dogfight again. A safe mid-table would do me fine at this stage. I still can’t quite believe we survived last season with the fixtures we had. The number of times I thought that was it, was unreal, the worst being when were 0-2 down against Liverpool, looking like we didn’t even know there was a goal at the far end of the pitch. ;) Somehow Liverpool committed suicide and Jamie Mackie showed just why the fans love him, to get the win, although at the time I thought it was still just prolonging the inevitable agony. Oh ye of little faith. :D

   Being a Chelsea fan I was confident that with the signings we made, they would settle in quickly and we would mount a serious challenge for the title however after watching us on Sunday their is a lot of work to be done as the new players will take time and even though they have only bought in Rodwell City do look strong however with the addition of Van Persie United have got two goal machines up front who could power them to the title so all in all it is set for a very exciting season, can’t wait!

     united’s and city’s attack are astonishing, indeed. and i’m sorry you only have torres as central forward. however, your midfield boosted with hazard, oscar (he is really good. everyone here in brazil were upset with his departure) and marin is the best one in the premier league.

    Will have to say Chelsea otherwise I will have a very grumpy boyfriend! :)

    I much prefer la liga, maybe I should do a special post on that! ;)

    One thing worries me is the sheer amount of money spent by those big clubs on players and yet most are from abroad and a team like Southampton who have spent £7 million on one player and yet are 5000-1 to win the league!

    Levante finished 6th in la liga last season and spent less on the whole squad!

    Fingers crossed for Santi Cazorla I think the way Arsenal play will suit him down to the ground and he might just light up the premiership next season.

    Darren once said to me that English players are so overpriced and first I didn’t really get it, but the fact that Man City spent £12 million on Jack Rodwell (sorry never heard of him) and Barca spent £14 million for Jordi Alba says everything about the premiership really.

          you might as well add to the comparison gaston ramirez, bologna’s hottest prospect, going to southampton as well, for 15 mill euros and a rumoured transfer of song to barcelona for 16 mill pounds.
          or even, take liverpool’s market of last year and there ya go, no more discussion on that matter.

        I would really like to write one!

        I used to write one a while ago where I would write weekly updates on whats happened in la liga results wise as most people dismiss it as only Barca and Real Madrid, and its true to a degree but outside the big two the competition is far bigger than England in my opinion with maybe ten clubs fighting for the other champions league places.

        Plus if I can get a few more people interested in la liga that would make me happy also! :)

    Manchester United look really strong up front with Kagawa, Rooney, Van Persie, Welbeck, and Chicharito, if Anderson and Cleverley can stay fit the midfield will be stronger than last season, there are a couple of injuries at the back but Vidic is back (probably need a new left-back to replace Evra soon though), my pick for the title

    Man City are still very strong and will be title contenders with their title winning squad fully intact, Aguero and Tevez upfront will give Premier League defences nightmares

    Chelsea and Tottenham are in a bit of transition, depending on how well it goes I think Chelsea will put up a decent challenge to the Manchester clubs

    Arsenal will do well to win a trophy! They keep selling off their captain but this time with Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud at least they won’t have to make last minute transfer deadline deals to save their season!

    Would be interesting to see how Liverpool do under Rodgers, maybe his style of play could improve their league form (I doubt that Borini will be really prolific though, and Suarez is wasteful in front of goal at times so someone has to score the goals!)

    I didn’t realize that Spurs and Chelsea had let go of so many players but then again I’ve spent most of the summer in the garden :)
    Bit upset that •Park Ji-sung is no longer at United and you must be gutted to see RVP at Old Trafford?

      I am a bit disappointed that RVP left the club but as Arsene says, the club always survived the big-name departures. I don’t really understand why he wanted to leave, he was getting paid quite well at Arsenal.
