Pre-season with Sorrento

Hello again and welcome to my first proper post about my Sorrento career. It shall be about the signings I have made and also my pre-season transfers.

I opted for a top-half finish and got little cash, so I went scavenging for young players on loan or on free. They were very hard to come by, because they had to be EU players and also they didn’t want to join my team. Nonetheless, I managed to buy a few players and also I sold a couple to free up wages.

I would have liked to have bought more than 4 players, but I could only sign so little due to the reasons I mentioned before.

Pape Thiaw is a Senegalese striker, who I could only buy because he also has French nationality. He is pretty physical, at 6’2″ and also with a strength rating of 15. His physical abilities were the reason I bought him and I believe there is a goal or two in him.

Cristian Fernandez is an Argentinian/Italian left back, who has great experience in Italy. His mental attributes reflect that and he shall be my captain for Sorrento this season. He should be good for me this season as he has a pretty good left foot on him.

Koldo Sarasua is an extremely experienced Spanish centre back, ho has vast knowledge of the Spanish lower leagues. Apart from his lack of pace, at the age of 37, he should be a star for my team at the heart of the defence. He is superb in the air and also very intelligent. Although he probably won’t last me another season he is a good snap as my only money signing this year.

Firstly, sorry about this picture as I have no idea how it happened! Anyway, onto the player. Despite his laughable second name of «Long Williemin», the French right back should be reliable at the back for us. He has strong physical abilities, but unfortunately you can’t see them :) Maybe he moved to Sorrento because he was getting bullied about his surname!

The two departing players were not in my first team plans and they took up too much wages, so I showed them the exit door.

After my transfer dealings, here is how my team report looks:

The squad report looks good, so I hope my team can live up to their expectations!

Here are my friendly results. I don’t personally manage the friendlies and I always make my assistant manage them, so I am never too worried about the results:

One win, two draws and a loss…. it’s hard to predict how well my team are playing.

My next post will be about my performance in the first few competitive games, mainly the Serie C Cup Group Stage. My team will be working hard to retain that trophy they won last year. Anyway, thanks for reading and as always I am looking forward to reading and replying to your comments.

Grazie, (I had to get some Italian in somewhere!)

Hi Calum, your team now looks pretty competitive with some good signings. I hope you can retain your cup and good luck for this season.

    Hi Calum
Early days to see where this is going but Pape Thiaw looks to be a good signing for you. I think you have the makings of an intersting story here.

I have a good feeling about your team Calum, the new signings look pretty good. I know only one of your players, Raggio Garibaldi, I had him at a Romanian club in FM 2007 or 2008… Good luck!
