Notts County Story — Last Season Transfer News

Hello folks, my last season at the helm of Notts County is getting closer! After winning a fantastic quadruple there was no more silverware to win apart from the FIFA Club World Cup. But I surely want to make this last season one to remember!

Hello folks, my last season at the helm of Notts County is getting closer! After winning a fantastic quadruple there was no more silverware to win apart from the FIFA Club World Cup. But I surely want to make this last season one to remember!

The board gave me no choice regarding the season expectations, they want another title! The transfer budget wasn’t too big though, only 55 million pounds. You might remember that I promised a big name transfer but that sum didn’t give me too many hopes of luring in a world class star.

The bookmakers were pretty sure that we were going to win the title, that surely adds some pressure.

Anyway, on with the transfers. Before beginning the chase for that world class player I had to bring in another free one, you know that I like doing that :) The free transfer is Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel, he will replace the aging Lucas Biglia in our midfield.

And now, the chase for the new star. First I tried to get Lionel Messi, my favorite player. The chase ended pretty quickly though, the lad didn’t want to leave Barcelona.

Next I moved on to Francesc Fabregas. After some negotiations Arsenal settled for 75 million, a sum that was way over my transfer budget so I had to move on to another target.

My next targets were from the Italian league, Inter’s Mario Balotelli and Milan’s Pato. Those didn’t go too well either, their clubs wanted more than 100 million pounds for each of them!

I had just two more names on my mind, Wayne Rooney (30 years old now) and Sergio Aguero. Manchester United wanted 35 million pounds for Rooney and I stepped out of the chase, it was too much for a 30-year old. Juventus did pay that much though, so Wayne moved to Torino. Finally, after pretty long negotiations Atletico Madrid agreed to sell Sergio Aguero for 55 million pounds. The player signed the contract immediately, so here’s my new star, Diego Maradona‘s son-in law!

Chris Gadi immediately started to complain about too much competition for a first team place so I told him to pack his bags and sold him to Manchester City for 16 million pounds. With that money I bought myself a new winger that could provide backup on both flanks, Aston Villa‘s James Milner.

Here’s a quick recap of all the transfers, a few youngsters from the reserves were sold and a few others were bought, nothing special.

The friendly games went pretty well except the unlucky draw with Independiente (they didn’t have any shots on target but equalized thanks to an own goal). Sergio Aguero looked pretty impressive, he scored a few goals and showed some of his skills despite not being fully fit yet.

The first month of the season will see us facing tough challenges right away, double encounters with Chelsea and Arsenal.

That’s what happened during the transfer window, I’m looking forward to reading your views about the new faces at Meadow Lane. I’m also going to update the current squad pages shortly so that you will be able to view all the player profiles and their career stats. Thanks for reading, see you in the comments box! ;)

    Hi Johnny, well done on getting Aguero, he’s incredible! 67 goals in 73 international games! Milner is also a good player, but he’s underated in FM, he’s really good in real life. Witsel should do well for you as well. I am looking forward to your final season!

    Hi Johnny
    Ref: Gadi «Pack your bags and go». Love it!!
    I wish I could say that to a few poeple at work. LOL!
    Anyway, three excellent signings that you have brought our attention too and I like all of them in real life.
    I hope you go out in some style as you embark on your final season with Notts County.Good pre-season too!

    Well done on the signings!

    Last season as in you will leave Notts County and find another job, or last season as in finishing the game and starting again?

    Anyways hope you can retain all your silverware this season! :)

    Thanks for the comments my friends.
    @Laxeyman
    Milner is a decent player in FM, very reliable from what I’ve seen while employing him in the England squad.
    @Kevin
    That’s a bit more difficult in real life, usually I pack my bags and go when there’s something I don’t like.
    @Ana
    I think I will start over with a new team although resigning and then applying for a lower league job could be fun. I might not do that because this Notts County will be hard to beat for years to come :)

    WOW! Aguero, fine catch! 55 mln! Sobis is doing a great job in the preperation-season though. I like that, a low-rated striker who’s outperforming the top-dogs. Like Eddie Johnson in fm2007, he’s the KING!! Good Luck with that tough start of the season, a good start makes a great season!

    Hi mate, you have really impressed us with these 3 signings in your last season. Though i can’t bear to see you leave Notts County but i believe there is a bigger challenge for you when you finished your career with them.

    @Andries
    Rafael Sobis started as a backup to Guilherme last season and then he slowly took the place in the first team and netted a truckload of goals. I can’t see why that wouldn’t happen again although I hope that Aguero will produce the goods sooner rather than later.
    @Lye
    Thanks mate. As I said, I hope to make this a season to remember :)

    Hi Johnny

    Aguero will be a brilliant signing and I cannot wait to see him in action. Milner will also be a good signing when he gets a run of games. Looking forward to your last season

    Great Signings Johnny And You Picked Up A Nice Fee For Gadi.
    Aguero Is A Beast Of A Player And I Really Admire Him In Real Life And I Hope We (Chelsea) Can Bring Him In.
    Romano And Aguero Up Front, I’m Guessing?
    Or Maybe Guilherme Or Sobis? So Many Options!
    Btw, I’ve Started A Game As Atletico Madrid And Forlan + Aguero Up Front Is Great!
    I’m In My 4th Season And Won The League In The 3rd Season.
    We’re Not Great In Europe Though!
    I’ve Signed Zapata And Gourcuff Who I Also Really Admire In Real Life!:P
    Also Signed Adler.
    How Does David De Gea Look In Your Game?
    My Assistant Rates Him As 3 And A Half Stars For A Title Challenging Team

    @Warren
    Thanks, I’m pretty curious to see Aguero in action too.
    @Martin
    I’ll probably employ Romano and Aguero more often, they seemed to work well together in the friendly games. De Gea is decent in my game, he was sold to Mallorca though.
    @Cory
    Thanks a lot mate, I hope he will be worth the 55 million.
    @Callum
    Thanks. Sobis did really well for me since I bought him, very consistent scoring and quite a few hat-tricks if I remember correctly.

    Oh And I’m Also The Italy Manager, It’s Quite Hard Because There’s So Many Great Players!
    I Usually Play:
    GK; Amelia/Curci
    RB; Santon/Motta
    LB; Criscito/
    CBs; Chiellini + Santacroce/Bocchetti
    DM; De Rossi
    CMs; Marchisio + Montolivo/Pirlo/Gattuso/D’agostino
    AMC; Giovinco
    STs; Balotelli/Paloschi/Gilardino/Pazzini/Acquafresca/Cassano/Morimoto/Rossi

    Up Front Clearly Has The Most Talent And Then Midfield

    Well done Jonny. You done well to get Aguero for that money. It will be interesting to see who has the best partnership upfront. Good luck for the season ahead. Hopefully you can go out with a bang.

    @Martin
    managing Italy is a great challenge, you have good players but I agree that choosing the right squad can be difficult under the circumstances. There are a few players that should always be in the first eleven in my view: De Rossi, Pirlo and Gilardino. What about Buffon, is he too old to be in the squad?
    @Micheal
    Thanks mate. So far it seems that Romano and Aguero can do really well together but they will need some time to gel.

    Your saves awesome, I’ve been trying with Notts County, done almost what youve done just havent won the prem yet, :/, and what I was wondering was how you got the official teams for the premiership?

    @David
    Thanks, I’m sure you will win it soon. If your question is about the logos then you can add them too, they are available in the downloads page.

    Thanks, well I’ve moved on to Real, been there for three years and won everything all three seasons, where is the download page?

    Yeah, The Experienced Players Should Help!
    Buffon’s Retired But He’s Only 34, I Tried To Get Him Out Of Retirement But He Doesn’t Want To!

    Transfers can be very annoying sometimes. For example,David Beckham snubbed my contract offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Beckham wants far too much money for what he can do on the pitch but that’s only my opinion :)
