Huddersfield Town: November 2011

Hello friends and welcome to my latest update albeit a short one as we only had three games to play this month. I’m still on the hunt for an international role and my latest application to Norway was also rejected.

I decided to change out the team for the game against Scunthorpe as I wanted to give the regulars a rest and also our opponents were in the bottom half of the table. By the interval that looked like a terrible error as we were two-nil down and struggling. A tactical change and a passionate plea at half time produced goals from Ayala and Skarz and earned us a draw. Charlie Austin had a terrible time up front and is very unlikely to ever replace Sigborsson as the starting target man on a regular basis.

The game against Middlesboro was the first of two tough ones and although we came away with a draw Sigborsson had two goals disallowed one of which was decidedly onside. The visitors caught us on the break for their first goal and poor defending accounted for the second. Borja got his goals with a lovely glancing header from an Emmanuel-Thomas cross and a Lee Peltier through ball created the other. Midfielders Palsson and Gunnarsson both had to be substituted for poor performances and yellow card offences.

I was expecting a difficult match for our trip to Fratton Park but in the end we totally dominated the game with Anthony Pilkington scoring the only goal with a neatly placed shot just before half time. Steve Gohouri had an effort cleared off the line minutes before and Sigborsson rocket of a shot smash against the woodwork just after the hour. Defensively we remained solid and Jansson in goal was never under any real pressure. I’m really delighted with these three points.

So after a short month we now face a mammoth seven fixtures over the next 31 days and I feel the outcome of these games could determine the season and we face Burnley twice in three days.

Here’s a look at my current finances. Overall we are doing pretty well though the main area of concern is the salary budget which I’ve allowed to go over by almost 20k so I’m going to looking through my reserve team come January to see who I can possibly offload.

With the likes of Newcastle and now Stoke trying to tempt my youngsters I want enough payroll available to keep them on the books.

That’s it for this month and thanks very much for reading this article.

Looking pretty good there Kevin, the team surely looks strong enough to mount a serious promotion challenge. I’m over the wage budget too at the moment but only by 200 pounds (which is a lot of money for Dorchester…). Selling a few players could be a good solution to balance the books but it could affect the team performances too. I’m sure you’ll find out a good solution. Good luck!

    Hi Johnny
Thanks for your comments. There’s a couple of high earners in my reserve team that I’m hoping to get rid of who no longer feature in the first team set up.

@ Handy, Nowland is s regen with huge potential. I mentioned him at the beginning of last season. He’s an AMLC.

Kevin, your mounting a seriuos title challenge so well done…. Try sell a few un-needed players to balence the finances, but they look pretty healthy too. Goodluck!

Kevin two disappointing draws for you this month but a very pleasing win at Fratton Park. Your job is now no longer under threat as it once was

Hi Kevin, your team continues to look strong, well done! With your game in hand you have a good chance of promotion if you can keep it up all season, although I think next month will be crucial. Good luck!

    Hello Lye
Yes, it certainly is more exciting than anticipated and I hope it stays that way.

@ Ravenie, thanks for the reminder about my job. You are right, I seemed to be under the axe all last season.

@ Laxeyman, next month will be crucial and I hope they continue to perform above expectations.

Get digging into the realms of south america for top young players, dont get a scout to do it,just mooch on to the national temas and find the best players, this will save you loads of money, also try and have a look in the Scandanavian leagues for some top players, this will cut your wage bill down and give you shit loads of top players.
