Hello friends!!
It’s great to be back after what seems like an eternity since the conclusion of my Southampton save but now we have a brand new version of the game and for me a brand new story featuring League 2 side Plymouth which won the vote that was held a few weeks ago.
Today I am bringing you an introduction to my story and will be back later next week with all the usual pre season content.
As FM 2012 allows you to add and delete leagues I decided to load the game with just the UK and Ireland for now as for sure the board will only allow scouting in this area. As we hopefully progress towards the EPL I’ll adjust these settings adding leagues from the rest of Europe and perhaps South America too.
You will notice I decided on using the FM 2012 dark skin which seems more comfortable for my aging eyesight and bi-focal glasses! Once the voting for my new team was complete several of you commented on Plymouths finances and you weren’t wrong. I have no transfer budget and I’m already over my salary budget so there’s very little wiggle room to buy new players so it looks like I’ll be loaning once I get started.
Transfer Budget:
Salary Budget:
Speaking of players, take a look at theses two screen shots of the first team squad. I don’t reacall ever seeing player morale like this when loading a new game. This is going to be hard to turn around.
First Team Squad:
As I embark on this new journey Plymouth will celebrate their 125th year as a football club so I hope by the end of the first season we will have something additional to celebrate.
Well that’s it for my first FM2012 post and thanks for taking the time to read it. I hope you all have a great weekend and can find the time to enjoy your copy of Football Manager 2012. Here we go!!!

Good luck mate, the players morale looks very grim but I suggest trying the new ‘team meeting’ feature and talk to the entire squad. This is a great way of lifting morale as a unit. And the best thing is their morale can’t get much worse.
Kevin

Oh yeah, the new Team Meeting feature — thanks for the tip!

Also doing plymouth argyle, and just a few pointers
1. all the players on over 1,500 a week always ask for reductions on their salary
2. there are 2 players who are lethal/free and they are: Enzo Scorza and Mark Leech (or something like that) :D
Kevin
22 октября, 2011 at 13:55
Hi jagginman
Good luck with your Plymount team and thanks for the player tips. I just found Leech and made an offer!

It all starts now, get rid of your hopeless players and dead wood and your wage budget should be much better. I cannot wait till I get FM 12. Maybe I should have changed that delivery option…
Kevin
22 октября, 2011 at 13:56
Thanks vaibhavc and I look forward to you following along.

And the first of the FM 2012 stories arrive :D. It looks like a very tough challenge and I have never seen a worse squad morale. Good luck and I look forward to updates:)

Neither have I though i’m hoping the new team talk feature will help a little.

Never seen players with ‘Abysmal’ morale Kevin, looks like you might have quite a tough job on hand here! I’m sure you’ll make them happier though, good luck!
Kevin
22 октября, 2011 at 13:58
Hi Laxeyman
I’ve definitely lined myself up for some trouble I feel but we’ll see what happens.

You’ve definitely got your work cut out mate, im from plymouth and this is not going to be an easy save! But im really looking forward to seeing how you do with this one especially after the state of the club in real life! good luck mate
Kevin

Hi Luke
Greeting from Canada. I hope I can work some wonders for your home town and look forward to you following the story.

I am also Plymouth on my version of FM12. The first thing i did was sell Simon Walton to Crawley. I only got £10,000 for him but his wages were 6k a week. With this money i have been able to make some free signing and am top of the league after my first 5 games.
Kevin
22 октября, 2011 at 14:01
Hi Gary
I’m not sure if I will sell Walton but seems to have workled for you and that’s great you are top of the table. I hope my managerial skills will be as good as yours!

It’s been sad to see what has happened to Plymouth over the last couple of seasons. They been into administration and two successive demotions. In real life, the players have also suffered a lot of delays with their wages, hence the really bad morale.
It’s still a shock though to see a team with such bad morale. I’m sure you can turn that around though, but I’m guessing promotion is probably out of the question this season. :D
Kevin
22 октября, 2011 at 14:04
Hi Ziggy
This whole morale thing is quite a shocker to say the least. I’m not even thinking about going up right now, I’d be happy just to improve the atmosphere in the club for the first season.
TheZiggy
22 октября, 2011 at 16:57
I was joking about promotion. Just staying in the League is the main priority. I hope they can somehow achieve that in real life, after all the agony they’ve gone through.
If I understand how the playable Leagues work correctly, it would have probably been an idea to have the English Leagues playable down to non-league, so that if you do have players you put for loan, there’s more chance they’ll get taken up.
Kevin
22 октября, 2011 at 17:06
I’m sure Plymouth will do fine in real life mate. That’s a good tip about non league — I never thought of that. Cheers!

Hi Kevin,
Get rolling. Time for a new journey. I am not too worry about the players morale. A few friendly wins should improve things. Good luck for the new journey ahead.

Thanks Lye and I think you are right about the friendlies. Heading over to your site now….

Hi Kevin,
Good luck with what looks like an incredibly difficult story! As for your morale problem that looks like the perfect way to test the team meeting.
Kevin
22 октября, 2011 at 17:11
Hey Dan
The task does look like one of the worst i’ve taken on so hopefully I can raise morale through those team meetings and a couple of good results

22 октября, 2011 at 16:50
Holy cow, that’s some depressingly low morale. This one is going to be tough, but I’m excited to see how you can manage with Plymouth (especially considering their awful run of form in real life).
Kevin
22 октября, 2011 at 17:13
What a way to start a new game especially after publicly annoucing I would be Plymouth. I couldn’t have made it more difficult!

Hi Kevin,
Hope you are well! Interesting choice of team, I hope you will be even more successful in this story. Good Luck!

Hi Sayam
Good to «see you» again mate and thanks for the well wishes

Be careful with Simon Walton. He is a very aggressive player and he will gain a few cards for you! Best of luck!!
David Wiggins
22 октября, 2011 at 20:02
Meant to say that Walton’s sister plays for the England womens team and she is just as aggressive!
Kevin
23 октября, 2011 at 09:52
Cheers Dave — duly noted!
Calin
23 октября, 2011 at 08:14
Good luck Kevin with your challenge, you won’t have the easiest season with that transfer budget and such a tight wage budget, but maybe with a few players sold and some intense scouting, you’ll get a bunch of quality players to start of with!
Kevin
23 октября, 2011 at 09:56
Hi Calin
Hopefully I can offload some players though after all these comments I wish people had voted for Weston Super Mare…LOL!
CsAtlantis
23 октября, 2011 at 10:11
Wow looks like us voters have you a tough challenge, hopefully you can find some way to stay alive with those finances?
By the way, is Plymouth the club where their manager had to sell off his medals to pay for club costs?
Good luck Kevin
jagginman
23 октября, 2011 at 19:12
Yep and he paid heating bills too, but the fans got the FA to make another medal for him
Kevin
24 октября, 2011 at 09:48
