Hello everyone, and welcome back to the new FMS Community story!
Last time I left you, I introduced the club and my intentions for the save and I have to say the response was absolutely astounding! So much so that we have no less than 58 players signing up for the new team and contributing their own ideas which is great to see as that is exactly what the story is about. You, the reader. It took me what felt like an age to edit all the data from the editor and in all honesty I thought I’d bitten off more than I could chew but with a vast amount of help from Johnny and some innovative ideas from Darren, the post has come to fruition! Thanks lads :)
As you can probably tell from the title of the post, the club that FMS have taken over is Scunthorpe United in the English Championship. The reason for this is that I wanted us to be in one of the major leagues, but far enough down that it would involve some nice twists and turns along the way and make for a more exciting story. I felt that taking over a relegation threatened side like them would be the best option, and at least have the chance of gaining a promotion.. Or relegation whichever way you look at it ;)
I have tried to make the attributes quite similar across the board and the current ones, at least, in line with those players that play in the Championship. I have however included more potential to the players in our squad, as I think it would be a lot better in the future when we can compete with teams in the Premier League and in Europe without having to buy foreign players and therefore keeping you, the readers, at the heart of it. Below are the ranges for CA and PA of the current squad. They were all done at random, using a random number generator so I haven’t fixed any of the stats:
Current Ability ranges from a 95 to 130.
Potential Ability ranges from 130 to a massive 190.
There is even a player with 200PA that was picked out at random! (Basically me just waving my finger and pointing to a name on the monitor, that’s as scientific as it gets really ;))

These were not chosen for players, more staff actually. Obviously, we want the best staff available to us and these are possibly the countries that produce the best high quality coaches.
With that out of the way then, we can talk about the club! Here is the screenshot of the club as you enter it through the first pages of FM:
So, FMS Patriots it is! I quite liked the name, and all though some of the suggestions were pretty decent, the majority agreed that it should stay as it is. I also haven’t changed any of the facilities about so we have a base to build upon if we want to compete with the best in England. The media prediction is a measly 24th (Last place..), lets just hope that we can prove them wrong ;)
As I stated in the starting post, all of the lads ages range from 17 to 18 depending on when your birthday is. Unfortunately as there were that many of you, I had to create a ‘B’ team with the rest going in the U19’s team. Don’t worry if your not in the first team squad yet, there is plenty of time and each one of you has bags of potential! Though, like I said you can choose your own fate in this game and with each monthly post, I will be updating you on the major news regarding transfers, injuries and more.. :)

We have a few of trips to Berwick and Bournemouth and Droylsden before we entertain Chelsea reserves at Patriots Park. Not a tough fixture list, but I will be adding more so we can see us all in action during the month of July!
That is just you introduction to the team and I still have to sort a number of things out with the squad including the staff and getting rid of some players who are on loan at the moment. I will be doing my best to add better staff in to improve your development at the club while organising some fixtures for each of the teams to see who will be getting internally promoted/relegated.

Oh, one other thing I forgot, once you have the coaches set up can I get an individual training focus to improve my first touch as that is probably something I need to work on to become a better MC or DMC.

I’m in the youth team, I guess that’s fair enough seeing that there are a fair number of players! Well done, this looks really neat!
I would like you to base an individual focus for me on strength and composure.
Hope I will do well in the youth team to get a game with the first team :)

I know mate, but with everyone being a different age on this site, I set the default to 17-18. That’s the only reason I asked for day/month, so that It could be a little personalised ;)
In fairness though, I can’t actually change any of the details now anyway, or I would have done so ;)

Wow! Good to everything is ready! I am pleased with my attributes, especially with my dribbling and freekick taking. I would like to put my training focus into Concentration first then later on some of my weak Physical Attributes. :) Interesting to see that I’ve already got 9 caps for England!
Can I also know which club has an interest in me… ;) (my name is Srujun Gupta, just in case). Another thing I’ve noted is that Swede has a value of 2.3M being only 14! He must be pretty good! I bet FMS players will be a huge target from bigger clubs… Also, can you upload the save? Just want to play around with everything. :D

Swede is actually me, and I think I’m only valued more as im that young ;). Just to state it on the record now though, I’m not the one with 200PA and there is another goalkeeper who betters even my PA ;).
Lastly, as stated above mate, the save will be made available after a couple of seasons!

To believe the fact that I replaced an international, OMG! And I think Sibo and I are the only ones who have International caps, with Beast playing for the youth team. :shock: Do post the England squad in the next story, I wanna see how I’m being played… :)

Thanks for doing this and after looking at my attributes, I’m wondering if I’m the 200PA guy. Don’t tell me! I think I look like I should make the first team. (wilfred von karma)
Could you put him on a quickness regime? I want to improve my shocking pace. Out of curiosity, did you give him a second nationality because he can’t get caps with Germany.
If you do try setting up corners, I want to be the guy on the far post with the ball set to the far post so I can head. With that kind of heading attributes, I should be able score a few.
I have one suggestion. What if everyone posts on this story thread with their player’s name instead of their own username so we don’t need to keep bracketing our player’s name unless Excessive knows who is who.

Love my player. (Big O) surely with 17 heading, 16 marking and 15 tackling should be 1st team material!? but I don’t mind sitting in the u 18’s for the mean time ;)

Also, for assistant manager, I would recommend Tony Coton, if you can find him. His tactical knowledge isn’t great, but everything else speaks for itself. I also saw another possible assistant manager in my celtic game who does have good tactical knowledge, although not quite as good in other things, but I can’t remember his name.

Aha found him: Terry McDermott….the main things he isn’t as good in is coaching, although that’s down to personal preference and can obviously be chosen by you as to whether you’d rather have an assistant manager with excellent tactical knowledge but mediocre coaching abilities or vice versa.

Actually had a look at him, and he isn’t half bad.. Just that we need an assistant who can coach too as we are quite limited in terms of staff. Will be sorted though mate, and I’ll update you with the staff situation as and when.

Hey boss, I just wanted to discuss my training regime…I feel my game could benefit from focussing more on my ‘agility’ (if not possible my first touch) so could you have a word with the coaches. Also I prefer a poacher role upfront so when and if I get some game time, being played as a poacher would be appreciated.

The team looks fantastic and I’m certain we will be in the prem once some of the players have developed in a few seasons’ time. I look great for a Welsh person, and hopefully I will have a few games, as I’m in the substitutes, outside the 7 though.
I would like to be put on tackling training if you want me to be a better MC, and composure training if you want me to be AMC, is that possible please?

Here is the situation mate,
Basically I added 64 players to the database, but FM have capped the limit at 60 players per team. I know it sucks, but you and 3 others have not been included.
So, I talked it over with Johnny, and as a result we are sending you and the other 3 to their favourite teams to start out as youngsters there.
Now I was going to add a ‘future transfer’ for 3 years time, but thats only if you want to mate.
Sorry about that, but I really am trying my best to get everything sorted so I can actually start playing some games with you lot!;)

Hi Jake. Pity what happened to my player. Yeah you could put him in Liverpool, you don’t have to set the future transfer, he’ll probably not make the first team anyway. You’ll have to report his progress though. And i’ll like to see his profile. Good work you’re doing here.
