The FM 2017 player profile of Jorge Mere shows a solid young central defender, his potential can bring him to success at Europe’s biggest clubs. Sporting Gijon know they have a gem in this lad, so they are not willing to negotiate below his minimum fee release clause. However, I am quite certain that sooner or later he will try to force his way out of the club, that’s when you’ll have to be prepared to seize the opportunity.
In my test save he got sold to PSG for a fairly reasonable fee, then they loaned them out for a couple of seasons and eventually he became the centre-back that they were hoping he would. He also managed to get into the Spain national team.
He is strong, agile and fairly quick, the ability in the air is also good enough, but he is also reasonably skilled when it comes to moments when he has the ball. He would be a great choice for any team that needs a central defender that can pass the ball around, along with dealing with the usual defensive duties.
