This FM 2015 player profile of Gaston Gil Romero shows a midfielder with the potential to maestro any of the top clubs in Europe. Romero starts the game with good CA, well capable of walking into any mid-table top flight club and even provide rotation for the bigger boys. In my test save he developed insane mental attributes, especially defensive with positioning, concentration, composure, decisions and anticipation all hitting a minimum 17. Physically adept to get about the pitch Romero also gained excellent passing ability and could break up play too. Everywhere this lad went he left a mark, from Brazil to PSG then Napoli, tonnes of assists and amazing ratings followed.
You could ask Romero to sit in the middle and control the park, or break up play as a ball winning midfielder, even drive forward and cover defensively as a box to box midfielder. Brilliant bargain at just £6 million.
Update: Since the new patch Romero has suffered a rather large decrease in PA, meaning he will not hit the same level as in the screenshots above. Still a decent signing but not as good unfortunately.

We’ll certainly start looking for more DC’s, there don’t seem to be many high quality defenders at reasonable prices but we are aware that area is lacking.

Don’t sleep on the ‘other’ Romero. I have both Lucas and Gaston Romero and they play a treat. Just can’t get over how good he is for how little I paid for him. I only gave up 3.1m pounds after some bargaining and 3 years later he is worth 24m pounds. Even if you don’t keep him, you can profit heavily from buying GG Romero at the start of the game.

If you are looking for more high quality defenders I would suggest you do a profile on Kurt Zouma. In my Liverpool save, my scouts tell me that he is nearly on par with Balanta but at a couple of years younger. Now the only difficulty is how will I pry him away from Chelsea? :-)

I wonder which is better between GG romero and niklas stark. Both are cheap and stark is younger. I just started a new game and stark just priced 3-5 m.

Hi Darren, I read on another profile that you thought he isnt as good after the update, is he worth signing still? I’m looking for a ‘CM attack’. I’ve already got Lucas Romero, so I’m looking for a partner. I’m Newcastle, so funds are not huge. Any suggestions? or is he still good? I haven’t used him since the new patch and I’m dubious spending money on him if he is not that good anymore…cheers dude

TBH I wouldn’t really class him as an attacking type of MC, maybe try looking for more attacking options through our lists.
