This FM 2014 player profile of Thibaut Courtois shows one of the best young goalkeepers in the game, if not the absolute best. Most of you are already familiar with his current ability, so I won’t insist on that. I have to say though that Chelsea don’t want to let him go and I can’t really blame them. I made an offer for him at the start of the game and Chelsea decided to negotiate, they asked for 225 million! Eventually I was able to negotiate that transfer fee to 100 million but not a penny less.
However, PSG managed to get him for 26.5 million in my test save, so I guess there’s still some hope. His future profile looks almost flawless: he has the concentration of a Chinese table tennis player, the aerial ability of a basketball player and the goalkeeping skills of a true world class goalie. He is one of those players that you might want to get at any cost, as long as it’s less than 100 million though.

If you want to play a sweeper keeper I’d go for Ter Stegen, otherwise, Courtois in my opinion.

I just noticed that there is a technique stat above the outfield rating. What does this stat represent? Is it a key stat for sweeper keepers?

I have just noticed that too, not entirely sure what it represents but it should be technique on the ball, the same attribute the outfield players have. It’s not listed as essential for the sweeper keeper role but it surely wouldn’t hurt.

Apparently the stat of technique refers how good they are in the art of goalkeeping.
Taken from the FM13 online manual.
Technique is the aesthetic quality of a player’s technical game; how refined they appear to be with the ball. A player with high technique will be more likely to pull off a tricky pass or a cross-field ball with greater ease than someone less technically able. This in turn affects a number of technical attributes; poorer technique will let a player down.

The same definition is in the FM 2014 manual but there’s no mention of how that applies to goalkeepers.

Take a look at Jeronimo Rulli — top class ‘keeper signed him for just 2.6 million in 2017 for Southampton and has dropped Lloris down the pecking order. How do I send in a profile of him?

Just got him in 2016 as Reading for $7.5 million. Holy shit. Still can’t believe he was sitting in the Chelsea Reserves for a whole season. Almost didn’t get him because of the unrealistic transfers box!

Worst keeper i ever had in fm, he can’t save anything and won’t even try to challange cross passes or corners. Have anyone really had him winning games or does he just have good attributes? And yes i have giving him time, two and a half season now, playing very defensive now cuz i know he won’t save anything… hopefully i can get some money back because of his good attributes

in my save, chelsea released him for free after three years as a substitute for peter cech. i didn’t sign him though because i had david de gea (who was doing great) so he ended in french side Montpellier :P.
