Hello one and all! Welcome back to my Stuttgart game! I left you at the end of March but what I didn’t realise at the time was that I only had 6 more games of the season left to play so this will be a short post! I also have a Cup Final to prepare for so let’s see how I got on.
League
So my final few games in the season went reasonably well. Before these games, I still had a shot at qualification for the Champions League. I knew when I drew with Schalke that it was a bridge too far. The disappointing loss against Koln sealed our fate. However, morale boosting victories over Bayern and Hamburg on the final 2 games on the season at least leaves us with good momentum heading into the Cup Final. Before we talk about that, here is how the league concluded
I managed to claim a UEFA cup spot which is quite pleasing in the end really. I just feel like I could have done more! I still don’t think I have my best team yet but a couple of changes in the Summer should make us more threatening next season.
Cup Final
I had moreorless my strongest team prepared for the Cup Final against Bayern. Beating them in the penultimate game of the season gives us a psychological edge going into the game but I would have to be aware of the wounded tiger effect.
I did it! Extremely pleased with this result and another trophy ticked off the list in the Ultimate European Challenge! This leaves me with just the league to accomplish in Germany which will be much more trickier. I am not even thinking about the European cups so if I somehow managed to win the UEFA Cup next season, it would be a miracle!
Pre-season
Seeing as this update is much shorter than I anticipated, I will show you what I have been upto in the Summer and my friendly results. I kinda went overboard with transfers which could come back and bite me!
In Darren’s game at the moment, he has been talking about his amazing Argentinian regens (with good reason too) but I have never known anything like this in previous FM games — There is a lot of fantastic players coming through in my game at the moment! That’s my excuse for all the signings! I am especially pleased with Eric Kouassi.
I thought I was done with all my spending but then he was brought to my attention and I just couldn’t resist! However, there was one player who I noticed too late and that is this gentleman below.
Absolutely stunning attributes and typically, he had to be Argentine as well! I will definitely be keeping an eye on him!

Some convincing results, finishing with a very pleasing 2 nil over AZ of Holland. It was very nice to see new signing from Algeria (via France) Sid Ahmed Boukemacha getting on the scoresheet a few times. He is another striker I have high hopes for and at the age of 23, he has the best years ahead of him
So that is all for now folks! Apologies for the relatively short post but next one should be up to the winter shutdown. How will I fare? Will the signings settle in quick enough?

Hey David,
That was a superb cup win against Bayern! Shame that you were just 4 points off a Champ[ions League spot, but I’m sure you can finish in the top 3 this season. Eric Kouassi is a phenomenal youngster, he will become a wonderful player. Can’t believe you signed him for just £3.5 million! Looking forward to see how you do this season, good luck :-)

Well done Dave, beating Bayern in the German Cup must of felt great. I think next season could see you take control of the League too. Looks like your game has been blessed with great regens too. You signed one hell of a player and at a very cheap price, but that Argentinian is really something. You should track him like a hawk.
ps I really liked Nemeth’s goal in the final :)

I just had a look at the Argentine under 20 squad and I swear all except 2 of them could walk straight into my team! absolutely unreal!

Hi Dave,
Good cup win over Bayer. As the games progress, more regens will come out. History tell us their attributes will be fantastic even at a young age. So i am not surprised you are able to sign Eric at 3.5 million. Hope you can find a few more in the game. Next season you will sure be challenging at the top as you are so close this season. Thanks Lye! There are certainly plenty to choose from at the moment! The best thing is that my youth team is pretty decent too so hoping a world class player will come through there soon too!

You could have been in the Champions League, Dave. After taking a look at the regens that you’ve sign, you can even challenge for the title. Well done on the cup win. Hope your team will do better next season. Looking forward for your next update Dave, good luck!

Cheers! My aim would definitely be to finish higher than 6th so CL qualification would do me nicely! This season, winning the UEFA or German Cup would be a bonus!

You were quite close Dave, 3 pts from the champions league spot, good luck breaking Bayern’s dominance in the Bundesliga, hopefully you can sign that Argentinian wonderkid regen!

That would be something if I could get him! I have probably spotted him and other Argentine regens too late so will need HUGE money to get them now!
Beginning to get a bit of a good track record against Bayern so depends on how I get on against other teams! Meant to say in my posts, Steve McLaren is manager of them :D

The league will be difficult but if you can keep finding these young players then you will definatly have a chance!!
