Basingstoke: Pre-season + transfer updates

Welcome back my dear readers!

The last season ended in a promotion to the Blue Square Premier. (The league just below Coca-cola league 2.) Our finances aren’t the best, and taking a look at the expenditure page it shows that we have some major outlets during matchdays, which I can’t figure out. The other major expenditure is wages of course. The biggest reason why we can’t make a better profit is due to the low attendences during matches. Tips for me to make the people come to the games are greatly appreciated, though playing good football is a certainty, but maybe we need some work on the stadium?

Alright, onwards to the transfer activity. I had only 2k to spend on players and a wage budget slightly above what i was paying at the moment. Still there’s room for some rather good free transfers.

Lee Makel

A very experienced player with good mental skills. He’s also the best coach in my staff which was the real reason why he was brought in. Still I’m sure he’ll do a good job when called upon.

Sean Fitzharris

He looks extremely good, right? Well this is one season later. I forgot to take pictures of the bought in players. Fitzharris was a prospect released from Celtic that I managed to lure to Basingstoke and even though he hadn’t developed to this level just yet he was still a very talented young striker.

Patrick Wilson

A perfect partner in defense with Chris Rodd. This tall defender came from DAC FC in Hungary.

Loan player Jake Taylor is a good and smart striker that will do a good job partnering either David Lee or Fitzharris. I’ll not post too many pics because my internet is acting up a bit.

I will however post the results in the pre-season games.

I decided to face a swedish team and went with Hittarp.  A team I’ve faced myself when I was younger and playing for my local team Ödåkra IF. Good results, even the 0-2 loss against Reading wasn’t that bad as we played some good football.

    Thanks mates.

The team is looking quite competitive. At least having enough quality to stay in the premier. The weak points are my wingbacks and my goalie but they’re also the toughest spots to fill when you’ve got no money to spend or not being that attractive as a club.
