Basingstoke: BSP 2nd attempt 2011-12

Welcome back! After that in-depth cover on my tactical approach I will now share the progress the team has been doing so far. It is 2011 and it’s my second attempt att qualifying from the Blue Square Premier. Hold tight…

DEspite the slump of form at the end of august I was very happy with the team. We got a bit more disciplined at the end of this period which shows in the results. Less conceded goals but also less goals for us. But I can live with that. Fitzharris is a classic poacher and isn’t fussing about with the chances he gets, it’s clean and simple into the back of the net.  McPhee is his usual partner-in-crime but Jordy Brouwer gets a few chances to shine aswell.

Topping the table at this point with 2 points and 1 game in hand.

Let us just continue then…

A very good run. I’m mostly happy about the fact that we don’t seem to let in more than 1 goal a game. It’s very healthy to see that the team never collapses during any game. We also create enough chances to score on so it’s only down to bad luck when we can’t seem to find the back of the net.

We’re out of the two cups now, but I can’t say that i bothers me too much as my aim is solely on the automatic promotion spot at the top of the table.

This was from the start of the new year, so there’s been a few games played as you can tell from the last picture.

At the end there we had some unconvincing displays but it was much down to that we had already secured the top spot in the league and the boys felt a bit out of shape after this heavy season.

I’m truly impressed with only letting 26 goals past us, despite having a rather weak Goalkeeper in Ross Kitteridge.

Here’s the team stats for the season aswell

The only great average rating is Sean Fitzharris, but it’s okay, the main thing was that we progressed on to the league 2. Now I’ll have to look for some improvment on the transfer market for next season. I’m in need of a solid centre-back and some quality in the midfield and of course a better keeper.

@Majk, thats very impressive. I lost count how many clean sheets you kept all season! It looks like you got your tactic spot on in that department! Congratulations on winning the league. Looking forward to your pre season post, goodluck.

    Hi Majk
Congratulations on winning the title. It seems that 6-0 thumping of Forest Green Rovers was a major turning point in the culbs fortunes. Well done!

Sears — I had to count. 25 clean sheets in the BSP. That even surprised myself! :) I changed to tactic back and forth depending on which players would start as I only really had 1 solid sweeper. But for the most part I had the sweeper-tactic.

Laxeyman and Kevin Mayo — Thanks guys. I’m happy with the improvements we made compared to last season. Certainly that big win got me back on the right track.

Well done Majk, Fitzharris might become a club legend soon. The defense seemed to be particularly tight indeed, that’s very important in building a successful team. Good luck on the transfer market!

Well then there’s a lot of decent choices out there for you ranging from cheap to expensive.

I’ll list some choices and you can look them up If you want to.

Vincent Eneyama — cheap and very good.
Andrea Consigli — a personal favourite
Sergio Asenjo — Might be a bit expensive
          Stephane Ruffier — solid
Sergio Romero — World class, suspectible descision taking though.
Diego Alves — I had him with Caen. Superb
Alphonse Areola — young but gets great later on.
