Real Competition Names for Football Manager 2009

Due to legal reasons Sports Interactive doesn’t use the real names for some competitions. For instance, the Premier League is called «Premier Division». But you can change that easily. Let me show you how.

Download this file. It is made by the Italian website called Panoz. If you unpack the rar file you will have a folder named «lnc». Now I’ll tell you what to do with the folder, depending on your game configuration.

If you are using the original game database you should replace the «lnc» folder located in C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\data\db\900 with the «lnc» folder you extracted from the rar file. If you bought the game through Steam, like I did, the folder should be located in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2009\data\db\900.

If you are using the database from patch 9.1.0 you should find the «lnc» folder to be replaced in C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\data\updates\update-910\db\910 or if you bought the game through Steam look in  C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2009\data\updates\update-910\db\910.

If you are using the database from patch 9.2.0 you should find the «lnc» folder to be replaced in C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\data\updates\update-920\db\920 or if you bought the game through Steam look in  C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2009\data\updates\update-920\db\920.

After replacing the «lnc» folder as instructed you shoud have a nice «Barclays Premier League» name for the English top division.

      @Browar
      Make sure you paste the files in the right folder. If you’re using patch 9.3.0 you should replace the «lnc» folder following this path: Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\data\updates\update-930\db\930

      Hm, that’s strange. Maybe your game is not using the 930 db… Try to replace the other lnc folders too, see if that does anything.

    this might help someone —
    i got steam version of FM09 with 9.3.0 patch. Initially after replacing the «Inc» folder (Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\data\updates\update-930\db\930), it did not work for me either but then i replaced «Inc» folder in all the updates (\data\updates\update-910\db\910) & (\data\updates\update-920\db\920) & it worked!!!
