World Cup Contest Standings and June 24th Fixtures

Hello dear friends, the World Cup gave us its first verdicts today: South Africa, France, Nigeria and Greece are out, Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina and South Korea will play in the round of sixteen. We had some spectacular matches to watch today and the results have not always been the expected ones: South Africa beat France 2-1 but they could have scored a few more, Uruguay looked mighty strong and went past Mexico 1-0, Argentina scored twice against Greece but both games came pretty late in the game, South Korea and Nigeria produced a fierce battle and a 2-2 draw.

As you know the leader of the rankings, Lye, announced that he doesn’t want to receive the prize, a copy of Football Manager 2011, so thanks to his generosity the second placed will receive the prize if Lye will win the contest eventually. There is a long way to go until the World Cup final though and lots of things can happen. What I can say right now is that the battle for the prize is extremely hot and with 24 points at stake every day until the end of the group stage the table can change dramatically every single day.
