Torquay United: Season End

Published on

Hello friends and welcome to my end of season report from the English Riviera. As you know we wrapped up the tiitle by the end of March so lets see how the last eight games played out.

Results

As we really had nothing to play for other than amass points the team actually performed quite well only losing two of the remaining games. Disappointingly hardly anyone showed up for our home games except for the final one against Notts County in which we finished up 3-1 winners in front of a passionate home crowd.

Club captain Nick Wroe who spent most of the season hitting the woodwork  got the opening goal that put us on the road to victory. A fitting way to end the season.

** If  this was Johnny’s Notts County I’m sure things would have been a lot different :)

The Final Table

Player Ratings

The top players were obviously my front pair on Barrowman and Benyon and even Subotic added in a very respectable 20 goals himself. Ryan Carolan who much was expected from end up my worse player but I’m going to keep him on nonetheless next season

Levi Porter and Nathan Ashton will probably be let go as well as defender Chris Robertson as he was the slowest of the back line and cost us a few goals throughout the year.

Finances at a glance ( not too encouraging)

I will focus on strengthening the back four during the summer and perhaps try to add a striker or two if the right players come along.  Another winger and a defensive midfielder would be nice additions also.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to bringing you my pre season report
