The diary of FMS Patriots star Darren Smith — Aug-Jan 2010/11

What a start to the season, who’d have thought our small Football Manager community could become famous within a few months. Everyone seems to be buzzing around the dressing room and Jake’s installed a real belief. I just hope my form continues and the Gaffa doesn’t drop me for Rodrigo. The kids got talent, but he makes me uneasy with those sharp glares across the changing room…if looks could kill….

Just got home after a tough away fixture against Millwall, I’ve heard horror stories about their fans and the reality isn’t much better. Tonnes of expletives and I’m sure the kid who tossed a bottle at my head was like 6 years old!! I had to watch from the stands of course, very frustrating seen as my leg is just gashed. Ow well the doc knows best and I’ll be back playing soon, besides the lads didn’t need me as Pepper was awesome…would be cool if the Gaffa signed someone called Salt lol :)

Crap, crap, crap!!! Had my first training session in a week and I’m injured again. Don’t know if I pushed myself too hard, but this groin injury will keep me on the sidelines for some time!! It was nice to see some support from the lads though, bar one of course. Rodrigo was grinning from ear to ear like a cheshire cat…you can have a few games you cocky ******* but I’ll be back!!

I’m soooo bored! This injury is getting on my tits and the doc says I’ll be looking at a minimum of 6 weeks out. In fact, I was so bored today I googled myself. Wasn’t happy with what popped up though, it would seem some rival fans or an ex-girlfriend found some rather embarrassing pics from Tijuana. It involves a cocktail waitress with a rather large adams apple…whoops, guess no bad deed goes unpunished.

Damn Rodrigo is good! He’s been holding back during training but the kids a beast on the pitch. My groin is almost sorted, but looks like I have some stiff competition upfront. Rodrigo has hit 7 goals in 17 games whereas I have managed 9 goals in 16 games. Lets just hope the Gaffa remembers my fine form.

I also heard a few rumours travelling around the transfer mill. Turns out Independiente of Argentina have been watching Rodrigo for months, but I doubt he’d leave England unless Boca Jnrs made an enquiry. Hhmmmm, while I’m on the web lets dig deeper into those horrible pics from Tijuana. Who the hell posted these, its on a random website but the webmasters name isn’t visible. This site seems to be all about me, why would someone do this? Think I’ll get myself a private detective before this site gets too popular.

Its Boxing Day, I’m freezing my balls off and you know what…I don’t care. The Gaffa’s playing me against Reading and Rodrigo has been dropped to the bench. Its me and my buddy Pepper upfront, the deadly duo are back and Rodrigo’s smirk seems to have transformed into a thrown…ow how I love Christmas time.

3-0 to FMS Patriots, two own goals weren’t going to spoil this for me. My return was marked by a goal and our captain, Sears, seemed relieved to have me back in the squad. Sears is one of those people that just brings a smile to your face. Its probably more about his funny accent and the fact none of us understand a word he’s saying. You should see him chatting to some of the guys with a lesser knowledge of the English language…pure comedy. All jokes aside though, Sears has lead by example so far. When we need a goal he towers above the rest, when we can’t concede he’s a brick wall. Spending 6 weeks on the sidelines meant I could make a short video. Just a bit of fun and the lads seemed to like it.

After scouring the Internet for the arse wipe who posted those pictures of me, I fell upon the BBC website and an interesting article. Turns out some pundits are backing us beyond promotion. Gary Lineker was quoted as saying…

The fairytale doesn’t stop at promotion for FMS Patriots. Despite just turning professional they have the most talented squad English football has ever produced. Premier League football is a must for them next season, then its only a matter of time before trophies follow. However, with big clubs across Europe sniffing around, Jake Lenahan needs to move the club forward fast or risk losing some key stars.

Haha, I found that damned site again. Ow s**t!! I don’t remember that picture at all, since when do I own a dog. These are doctored for sure, so maybe that Tijuana pic is too and that never really happened. Can’t remember much from that holiday to be honest. Better call my private detective again and see if he’s found anything.

Just got off the phone to my detective, he’s still drawing a blank but optimistic of finding this loser. Anyway, that crap is the last thing on my mind right now. Johnny Karp just called and urged me to turn on SKY SPORTS NEWS. He seemed very agitated and I joined him as the Plasma screen came on. According to Geoff Stelling’s report, at least 40 players from FMS Patriots are been scouted and are wanted by other clubs. I watched on in utter shock and disbelief, we’d only been playing for six months and the squad could be torn apart already. I shushed Johnny to be quiet as the big transfer news came out.

Dully decides: Chelsea and Lyon are just two of 8 clubs showing an interest in the 18 year old. FMS Patriots have issued a hands off warning, but London side Chelsea could offer more than £10 million.

Dezmo plays down Man City link: Manchester City and Arsenal look set to test FMS Patriots resolve. Dezmo has been a revelation and lit up the Championship with 4 goals and 10 assists. Jake Lenahan is standing firm and demanding £20 million for their top asset.

Pepper put on standby: With 10 goals and 9 assists there was no surprise to see some interest in the forward. While Pepper remains firm in his commitment, Barcelona, Liverpool and Chelsea could tempt the 18 year old away. Manager Jake Lenahan has laughed off any interest and stated a minimum of £40 million would be required to prize Pepper away.

Darren Smith stands firm: After reiterating his commitment to the Championship side, Smith may want to rethink his options with Arsenal and Chelsea poises to make a bid. 4 other clubs are said to be in the race for Smith’s signature, but the 9 goal man said he’s at FMS Patriots for the long haul.

Brazza looking at the bigger picture: England’s top teams are tracking Brazza, the Irish full back is said to be flattered by the interest shown in him. Whether that means the 18 year is a want away remains to be seen, but Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City are among 5 other clubs for the stars signature.

Yesterday was a real bitter sweet day. Its amazing to see so much interest around the club, but I seriously fear for the squads future. After chatting with a few of the lads, it would seem we’re all firm in our decision to stay at FMS Patriots. At the end of the day, a player can’t be forced to leave the club, so I just hope no one goes back on their word.

The clubs owner, Miles Jacobson watched training today. A few of the lads tried putting on a show and Miles was really impressed, although Johnny Karp tried one too many tricks and fell on his arse lol :) Gossip travelled around training fast that Mr. Jacobson wasn’t here for a training session. Sure as day he pulled us all around come 16.00 for an announcement…could this be about that pain in the arse website, I knew it would be seen by the wrong person eventually. :(

It turns out no one within the club has seen those doctored photos of me yet, guess my paranoia got the better of me. The meeting was actually about the Gaffa’s leave of absence and no one saw this coming. While the clubs owner reiterated that Jake wasn’t been replaced, he also took the opportunity to tell us who would be managing the team for the foreseeable future…and that man is Johnny Karp snr. Wow, a chance to play for the legendary manager himself. I know Mr. Karp has no real life credentials but then neither did Jake and we all respect both of them for their Football Manager triumphs.

Turned out to be a really great day, no one has seen my shameful pics on the web and I get to play for Johnny Karp Snr. Will be interesting to observe Mr. Karp’s approach and tactics, although he has assured the team everything will remain the same. All I need now is to get that website shut down. After calling my private detective he came up blank so I fired him, guess this problem will have to be solved on my own.
