Stromson: The FM 2012 Story Is…

Published on

*wave*

Hello all, I’m back as promised! I know I said I’d make a video of the announcement, but I just haven’t had the necessary privacy to record this week (try recording with someone else in the room, you’ll see just how awkward it is). In lieu of that, my hand has been forced to make a far less dramatic written announcement. I’d like to thank all of you for your input, and I read each and every suggestion. I took your recommendations into consideration as I narrowed down my choice, and after some profuse brain sweating, I’ve come to my decision.

*drum roll*

*more drum rolling*

*awkward pause*

*a little bit more drums*

And the decision is….

Whoops, wrong image. I meant this:

That’s right, Wales! For those of you who know me, this answer probably doesn’t come as any great surprise. Wales was always the front runner, and since my first Afan Lido save, has been the object of my passion. I haven’t quite decided which team I’ll be starting with, but there is a fair chance it’ll end up being Afan Lido once again. Before our challenge begins, I’ll do a quick summary of the goals and rules I’ll be following:

Goals:

1) Win the Welsh Premier League (feasibly within the first 2 or 3 seasons max)

2) Win the Europa League (Will likely take at least 15-20 seasons)

3) Win the Champion’s League (I’d expect this to come 5-10 seasons after Europa)

4) Improve the Welsh Premier League to a 4 or 4.5 star league on par with the Big 5. (Will probably take me until midway through FM 2015’s cycle)

Rules:

1) No cheats

2) No database tweaks

3) No third party scouting software

Lofty goals, to be certain, but I think with dedication and perseverance they’ll be possible. Given the long term nature of the project, I’ll be altering my posting strategy somewhat. I’ll have two types of updates for this story:

1) Videos — These will be video-centric posts with only some text. These will be done in-season, and will likely just be one-off or key games.

2) Season Reviews — These will be the «meat and potato» posts, where I’ll review the season in full, including key transfers, results, and whatever else I can think of.

Depending on real life events, there may be some gaps between Season Reviews, but I’ll do my best to intersperse those with video posts. I’m very likely going to need to lean on some of you for moral support during this incomprehensibly long journey, and I’ll go ahead and thank you in advance for that. My job for you, the reader, is to not let me quit! If you seem to notice my morale dropping perilously low, please be sure to smack me upside the head and remind me of the greater goal here (which is to make Wales awesome).

I’d like to thank you all for your support, and I’m extremely excited to begin this quest (I think it’s epic enough to be called a quest, no?)!
