Sears — FM11 Queens Park: Creepy Crawly Spiders 12/13

Published on

Hey folks, welcome to the new home »Allthatisfootballmanager». As you know, Johnny and Darren decided to merge together arguably two of the biggest blogs on the internet together. Genius or what? It’s been my dream to write on Johnny’s website, he really is the God in our FM community. So thank you Johnny for allowing me and the other writers to post here. Although this couldn’t have been accomplished without the fantastic Darren Smith. Ever since I began writing for him, he has become one of my friends. He gave me the wonderful opportunity to write on his old blog, then on Allthatisfootballmanager and now this. I’m so grateful pal and I can’t thank you enough. Seeing as I won’t be able to post all next week, I decided to finish my season and share it with you before I left. Here’s how the magical Spiders ended the 12/13 season….

First Division results:

In my previous post, you may remember me stressing how crucial a strong finish would be, especially to our confidence. Our start to the season was unpredictable and inconsistent. We could play phenomenally one week and terribly the next. However, a slight change in tactic changed our fortunes and now were winning on a consistent basis. This is evident from the picture I have provided regarding my fixtures from March to the end of the season. In a short space of time, we went from relegation contenders to title hopeful’s. This is the crazy life of managing an amateur club :-D All in all, I’m elated with our tremendous end to the season. This gives me so much optimism heading into next season. We just a few players short of actually conducting a consistent title challenge. I’ve seen stranger things.

League table:

If we began the season as we ended it, it could have been us and not Dundee enjoying promotion… We played them 6 times this term, and didn’t lose once, We won 5 and drew once. Needless to say, following our poor start to the season, I would have snapped your hand off if you said we’d finish in 4th position. Especially considering we were just 5 points off 1st place. So close but yet so far….. Go Spiders!

Aghhhhhhhhhh no!! Semi final heart break.. God damn you Aberdeen, you most certainly ruined the party. Shame on you! Only joking, they deserved to win. We played well, but their superiority showed and could have scored another goal or two. But wow, we dismantled Hearts away in the quarter finals. That was defiantly the highest point of our season, and probably my career. (In charge of Queens Park, of course) The board only expected me to reach the 4th round, thus we exceeded in their expectations. Although yet again, my bunch of amateurs surprised the nation. Were making a habit of this, aren’t we?

Players ratings:

I was disappointed with loads of my players, but hey, were amateurs so I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. Mayulu was immense, and most of my new players were decent.. But one question remains, will I continue or resign? Tbh, I’m getting sick of being an amateur club. There’s no room for proper progressing and I’m becoming deluded. I’m not going to quit and start a new game though. Instead I’ll just resign and look for a new club. Kind of like a journeyman story? I feel I’ve bought this club has far as I could have bought it, however I’ll think about it though. Let me know what you think!

That’s it for today’s post, my next post won’t be until next weekend or later. That’s because I’m going to an Army Barracks for work experience on Monday. I’m looking forward to it hugely! I’m seriously going to consider whether I should resign or stay on as boss of Queens Park though. Thanks for reading.
